Found cat
Submitted by Sand_whiting on Sun, 2013-12-01 09:15Hi guys, sorry I haven't got anything to say in regards to fishing this time, but I thought I may as well give it a go. Have any of you lost a cat, or want a cat? You can have it for free. It has just appeared at our place, and is living under our verandah. We don't particularly want to keep it as we have a jack Russell that doesn't like it and the cat tries to hunt the birds. It's not very practical for where we live because we own a bit of land right next to a national park. If anyone's interested pm or post a comment.
Cheers, Charlia.

Abalone Sunday: SLSWA Warning
Submitted by Swompa on Sat, 2013-11-30 19:25
Recreational fishers are warned that forecast ocean conditions for tomorrow are likely to make it potentially dangerous for the one hour abalone fishing session in the West Coast Zone.
Department of Fisheries Principal Management Officer Martin Holtz said the predictions in some sections of the zone were potentially dangerous for abalone fishing.
“Fishers should very carefully assess the situation at their favourite abalone fishing location and consider not fishing at all tomorrow morning,” Mr Holtz said.
“It is very important that people do not take risks in the ocean, in order to catch abalone. Rough sea conditions over the reefs can make them very dangerous to fish on.”
Surf Life Saving Western Australia is also urging all abalone fishers to reconsider participating in tomorrow's abalone fishing session.
Conditions forecast tomorrow are going to be treacherous for many fishers and Surf Life Saving WA cannot guarantee their safety. When the hour long fishing season opens at 7:00am, conditions are expected to be 10 knot south/south-westerly winds accompanied by a 2.0 metre swell and 1.5 metre seas.
"For many fishers these conditions will be well beyond their capabilities and even life threatening, to not only themselves, but could also put the lives of surf lifesavers at risk as well,” said Surf Life Saving WA Duty Officer Andrew Matraszek.
"Surf Life Saving WA is urging people to take extreme caution and even re-consider the decision to enter the water. No fish stock is worth putting your own life on the line. Your safety is your own responsibility."
Surf Life Saving WA will be providing lifesaving, jet ski and helicopter patrols during the abalone fishing session.
Mr Holtz said, following the introduction of a new season structure in 2011, fishing for abalone was this year allowed for one hour only (7-8am) on the first Sunday of the month November to March.

Trans Tasman Match Fishing
Submitted by Bluetonic on Sat, 2013-11-30 13:25Anyone else watch the 5 series Trans Tasman Match fishing on Fox Sports?
It was held just north of the Bay of Islands and most of the fishing was flicking plackys into the washes for Snapper.
Esperance Jetty!!!!!!!!!!!
Submitted by Jdubya on Sat, 2013-11-30 09:31Morning Fellow Fisho's
Less than a month now and ill be heading down to my local fishing destination yeeehaaa!!
Anyone here from Esperance way know if the big Jetty has been re-opened yet. Some talk a few months back about putting a bridge across the start until the rest of the redevelopment takes place. Will be a shame if its not coz its the best spot for some big squiddies

Whiting Lures and Poppers - changing trebles
Submitted by crasny1 on Fri, 2013-11-29 12:11I have just about had a gut full off the small, shap as hell and get stuck on everything trebles on the small whiting poppers and stickbaits. The post about changing trebles to singles in the casting Mackie lures reminded me to ask.
Has anyone tried this. I know which hooks I would use, but not sure if this would deter the action off these diminutive lures.
Neels
Edit: LOL what is shap, its sharp

Drawing the Line, Commercial Fishing in Australia Documentary
Submitted by Buz on Thu, 2013-11-28 23:06Drawing the Line, Commercial Fishing in Australia Documentary
Went and watched a screening of this documentary at Bluewater Tackle Myaree tonight. Was a great piece of work, with a lot of good information and myths(scaremongering) dispelled.
Big John raised it on here first: http://fishwrecked.com/forum/drawing-line
You can check out the preview, buy the download, and get more information from their website
http://drawingthelinemovie.com/
I can only hope that all of you have a watch and that this documentary gets out to as many Australians as possible, to let people see what the Greens and Media don't want us to see or to know.
It definitely would be great if it could get onto free TV. Don't think the ABC would have it though :-\

Respect to Fishwatch
Submitted by Notorious on Thu, 2013-11-28 17:13Saw some illegal fishing activity today with some persons throwing and retreiving crab pots at my local spot inside cockburn sound. Called fishwatch, only 2 minutes after getting off the phone to the operator a local fisheries officer called me and attended the scene busting them in the act.
Well done to fisheries and I urge all of you that see any illegal fishing to call Fishwatch and they will nab them (hopefully).

Replacing trebles with singles
Submitted by Rusty Balls on Thu, 2013-11-28 17:13Hi All ,
Just looking at my lures and thinking that i need to replace quite a few Treble hooks on my mackie lures (halco, rapala, yozuri)
and am thinking should i go singles ?
and if so what sizes ?
And what brand ?
Most of my lures are 150-180mm as they are casting lures for steep point.
Thanks in advance

Crabbing Scenario
Submitted by chris raff on Thu, 2013-11-28 10:594 persons go to mandurah in the same vehicle .. two go in the boat and get their 20 the other two scoop landbased and get their 20 . All legit , but once we are ready to go fisheries decide to knock on the window and check with 40 crabs in the esky , yet 20 is the max on a boat. The onus would be on us to prove we caught them separately if the officer decided we might be telling porky pies for some reason . Obviously to eliminate any drama is to take two cars , but not really wanting to . Might be overthinking it , but not wanting to chance a hefty fine if this scenario did eventuate .
Any thoughts ?
