Seabird report
Submitted by sea-kem on Mon, 2013-04-01 18:22 Hello all some pics from our outing on good Friday. My oldest boy Rory was rewarded early in the day in 22m with this 6kg speciman.
. Next up was the Baldie for the deckie after he lost a horse halfway up so was duly rewarded with a decent fish. It was getting toward 2pm when I heard Anypuddle on the radio so decided to say g'day. I had caught zip until then so that radio call must have bought me some luck as literally 5 mins my rod took off and I pulled up this PB for me 13kg Dhuie.
This also christened my jigging rod and was the first time I have ever caught a decent fish on braid being an old school mono diehard. Thanks Bunny if you read this. The rod performed oustandingly and it's paired with an 8000 SW Stella.
Day's catch.

Submitted by Paul G on Mon, 2013-04-01 16:50It seem that only the odd topic now attracts much interest .with only a couple of comments and hundreds off views ,are people getting bored with the same old thing or just can't be bothered. It's nice to get comments on vids, reports and pics it makes it worth the effort.,I'm sure there are others thinking the same thing or is it just me.

Anyone here lost a dive bag with goodies at Peppy Beach?
Submitted by craig scott on Mon, 2013-04-01 16:02My kids found a dive bag yesterday afternoon down at the Peppy Cut area.
It has some rather nice things with it, I'm sure whoever lost it would be real happy to have back.
Looks like Busso people maybe lost it.
Please ask around.
Cheers, Craig.

Advice for beginner
Submitted by Gary18 on Mon, 2013-04-01 08:57G'Day all,
new to the forum , a good site by the looks I'm enjoying the topics , stories and the humour
I am a bloke who would be best described as a shite fisherman, as in can knock up a basic rig , chuck a mulie on and feed the tailor ect but I really want to teach my son (11) how to fish , to give him an alternative to XBox war games which will get him down the water and hopefully having fun.
I live in the Comet Bay area and want to have a go at the Yellowfin Whiting which are plentiful along secret harbour , golden bay ,singleton area
I know the bigger ones are difficult to catch but was wondering what people have had success with , rigs , baits or techniques so I can put it to practise. I have been told about "Gulp" fake sand worms and that they are supposed to be good ?
Thanks in advance and happy fishing
Cheers Gary

Exmouth - April school holidays
Submitted by Tandawg on Mon, 2013-04-01 08:26Hi all, I'll be fishing Exmouth during the coming April school holidays. Arriving 22nd and departing 29th. Will be staying at Lighthouse Caravan Park and I think we have secured a campsite to the northern end of the park. Have a white 560 Barcrusher called "Lady Nancy".
Let me know if you are going up and we can share some exagerated stories over some beers.
Regards

Which Exmouth Fishing Charter
Submitted by Young_bass on Sun, 2013-03-31 23:20Hi, I'm heading up to Exmouth in mid June to do some diving/fishing and wondered if anyone could tell me a good reliable fishing charter? Have had a look at some old discussions and sounds like there are a few dodgy fellas working up there so don't want to waste time and money on them. ny info or recommendations would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

squiding
Submitted by thebmac on Sun, 2013-03-31 21:23i went out from mindarie today. only about 10 mins from the marina. had some fun with a hell of a lot of skippy. seeing as we were over some broken ground i thought we wouldhave a good chance of a squid or two. so i baited up a squid stick with a mullie under a float on a handline. it was set at about 2.5 meters deep. half an hour and nothing. then it got smashed. took a fair bit of line before i reaslised what was going on.grabbed the reel, felt wieghtand then was bitten clean off. i through another bait straight out. and nothing.anyone have any ideas what smashed my squid bait?

Good Friday
Submitted by buddharock on Sun, 2013-03-31 20:00Headed out with a mate on Good Friday and had a great day out. Sea was washing machine like and a bit rough on the way out. However, picked up my first pinkie ever, 67cm and 3 baldies between 43cm and 47cm. Also picked up a couple of undersized dhu's, undersized pinkie and a couple of small black arse that we sent back down as well. Chose the right time to head back, between the switch in the breeze and was pretty happy with the day's haul.

Anyone have experience using an EPIRB
Submitted by pale ale on Sun, 2013-03-31 09:35
Has anyone recently had the misfortune of requiring a rescue initiated by your epirb?
I also need to buy a new one.
http://www.e-marineworld.com.au/store/cart.php?
This one which hekser linked in another topic looks like a better unit than the GME due to battery life / warranty and it apparently updates your location more frequently.
Has anyone used this model before?
I have never had much faith in GME radios / CD players..... they dont last very long
Also, does anyone ever do the "self test" of their epirb? I have always looked at doing it, but too scared I might set of a search party.
