who caught in cockburn sound this weekend?
Submitted by bayliner on Mon, 2012-09-03 19:47was just wondering who caught anything in the sound at the weekend???????????
Water was lovely and calm most of the day, the solunar tides say it was good fishing at around 11.30am til about 2 30pm, i fished quite a few spots drifting and at anchor but just little nibbles, but couldnt venture out to far as we had our little one and missus on board,
bonus was the missus didnt want to go home till she caught anything...... she failed, but first time out for her........... she wants to go again. perfect!!!!!!

Braid lines, Tasline
Submitted by _subz on Mon, 2012-09-03 17:57Hey guessing most of you guys on here have checked out paulus' site about braid reviews and testing to get actual diameter and strength of different braids, but was just wondering if anyone has tried using the braided lines he has manufactured himself called Tasline?
Their strength to diameter ratios almost seem to good to be true, not to mention a very good price.

November fishing trip ... where to go?
Submitted by setadrift on Mon, 2012-09-03 00:34We're planning a fishing trip for November. We were looking at Shark Bay however I've looked at the weather patterns and the wind looks like it picks up then. There will be 7 of us going with 2 boats. A 6.3m and a 4.5m, so it cant be too rough or it's going to make life pretty tough in the 4.5m.
Any thoughts on good spots to go? We've considered Jurien Bay and Coral Bay/Exmouth but not sure if they'll be any better?

Stella SW4000 vs Branzino 3000
Submitted by roganjosh on Sun, 2012-09-02 06:54HI,
Hi Everyone, a smilar post most likely has been put up before, and i gather this might open up a can of worms due to the brands that i am considering.
Has anyone used both these reels and prefered one over the other.
I am looking at using one of these around Exmouth / Coral Bay, for soft plastics from the shore and maybe a little light jig work running 20lb.
Any thoughts would be great

Dongara/port denison
Submitted by mucsavage on Sat, 2012-09-01 23:48hows it goin all, Its been a good few weeks since i last was able to get to sign in or see the site. As due to working and living in dongara, no internet.
Iv been living and fishing around dongara an port dension o, and been catchin loads of small snapper and bream and nice sized tailor on muiles. But Im just wanting to get some info on the types of lures to use to land a few more big tailor.
Im unsure of the whole area in itself but have been fishin on the north groyne towards the reef and into the marina. Also tried the wheelchair accessale platform (blowies all over the place). With the North groyne facing the reef it has produced big buff bream and the odd tailor for me so far on baits and free weight mulies, But Im wanting to change it up a small bit and try for the big mullaway and bigger snapper i hear are lurking around there.
Can anyone provide some helpful insight in to the type of rigs and set up I need to get to the mulla's and the bigger snapper, cause if there is small ones there, im sure the big brother is somehwere near by.. Also maybe name just one or two decent lures to try. I have a few halco twistys, a ricther lure and a small plug cant think of the name of it. ANy help much needed and all advise welcome.
Look forward to reading your replies. PS I may not be able to reply as fast as I like due to the lack of internet. But please any info would be great..
Ps if anyone is around that area and wants to meet up for a fish some evening or even a night fish, please give me a shout on my email..
Cheers.
Muc.

advice 15kg trolling outfits
Submitted by spanishmackeral on Sat, 2012-09-01 19:51Hey fellas, with a new job and a trip to exxy planned for August next year it looks like im due for some new gear. Im sick of trolling with abu's so first thing is to upgrade the trolling spread. Use will be mainly for macks, cobia, reefys etc with the possibility of a billy (fingers crossed).
Looking at 3 x 15kg outfits, reels holding around 450ish metres of mono, lever drag, quality anti-reverse, and drag that wont burn out after a few big runs, budget around 900 for the 3 reels and i want to get the cheapest good quality rods possible, most likely about 600 for the 3. All up $1500 but if i can find something cheaper without comprimising quality i will.
First reel to come to mind being at the upper end of my budget is the Shimano Tyrnos 20, which i do like, just interested to know if someone can recommend something cheaper that will do just as good a job.
My main issue is the rods, as im not sure what defines a good trolling rod so i don't know where to start looking.
Any help/advice is welcomed, rob.

National Parks
Submitted by Howard George on Sat, 2012-09-01 07:12I don't know if i've got the right forum site but a question has come up that I don't know the answer to so perhaps someone can help me out. Today is the start of the trout season and a lot of the river systems I fish on run through National Parks so is fishing for trout banned in these areas. I keep hearing greenies say that Marine Parks are just like National parks on land but if areas are closed to trout fishing where do I get the maps from that define those closed areas.

Here's hoping for a nice day with a few rainbows and some redfin for tea.

Anyone fished Kuala Rompin?
Submitted by Ninety Mile on Fri, 2012-08-31 14:35G'day All
Has anyone here fished Kuala Rompin before? If so would be great if you could share your experience. Myself and some mates are headed there mid-September for 3 days fishing.
For those that don’t know, Kula Rompin is a small fishing town on the east coast of Malaysia, about 3hrs drive from Singapore (possibly more by the looks of the map!) Its renowned for its sail fish, with huge numbers and anglers getting into the double figures on a days fishing!
Look forward to hearing any reports and I’ll provide one myself on my return!
Cheers
Jarrod

broome fishing
Submitted by AaronC on Fri, 2012-08-31 13:06Hello,
Just thought i would ask if any fellow FW members were going fishing in broome this weekend and had any room for a fellow fisho?? Weather looks magic and very hard to stay on land!!!!!!
I am a 30 year old aussie bloke up here on holidays and looking to go fishing. I have bought my own gear up here and have fished Eco beach and the jetty with no love!!! Not willing to thrown $280 to a charter company to lake me out to some pissy little reef and catch bait, as i am sure all fisho's have done before.
I have my own 5.5m boat in Perth and would be more than willing to take you out and return the favour if you are down in Perth anytime. I am more than willing to pay for my share for fuel, ice etc. Not a problem. I understand the cost associated with fishing.
My mobile is 0406 383 791.
Cheers,

Kalbarri in September
Submitted by Evansb80 on Fri, 2012-08-31 11:58Hi everyone farley new to fishwrecked and thought it would be a good place to get some info, heading up to kalbarri in late september and just wondering if it's worth towing the boat up or not. Has anyone fished up there this time of the year and what would be the best thing to target on the boat, and is it better fishing north or south of the mouth. Any info to make my decision would be much apprecatied.
