Hi Team,

Hoping for a bit of advice and get some other peoples experiences. I am currently running a HDS9 gen3 as a plotter and some engine managment functions.  I have the EP-60r fuel flow sensor hooked up to this through the nmea network.  This works really well at measuring the fuel used, generally after a couple of hundred litres used I am about 5l out from where it says it should be.  However, I am now on my third sensor. The first one i got second hand and it died quickly, fair enough I thought, thats what you get, the second one I got new and it lasted just under a year before it died and I got it replaced under warranty, now the third one has lasted just over a year and has recently died.  

Has anyone else had similar experiences with these?  Any suggestions on what is going wrong?

And seperately, does anyone have a fuel flow sensor hooked up to a Furuno GP1971f?  And if so what flow sensor did you use?

I bought a boat in Jan and doing a refurb. It came with an Elite 9 TI2 with the 3 in 1 tranny. Only got to take it out a couple of times before stripping the boat for the refurb. I'm torn between using it as a chart plotter and getting a Furuno sounder or tweaking this one with a P66 or something to get it working well. Any advice, tips etc would be greatly appreciated.

Has navionics for western australia .

Just need to splice a plug on to the external gps receiver .

Have done video of me going through most of the functions and have more pic's

Does not come with transducer , p66 is about $200 from blue bottle marine .

I ran a tm 260 off of it and it worked great.

Reason for selling  is i have a furuno gp 1971 and are getting a furuno sounder .

Hi all, have navionics card (micro ) in lowrance hds9 live has worked great for nearly four years then started to stop reading, restarting the unit the card worked ok, but recently card stopped reading, have cleaned contacts with wd40, worked once and now does not read, have tried in second slot for card still no read. Saved my waypoints to new blank sd card then did a soft reset, still no read. Has any one had similar fault? 

Hardly used,perfect condition and includes 3in1 (transducer new) chasing around $1000.Manjimup but can get it to most of south west

i have an HDS Gen3 12" with the 2015 bundled 3in1 Transducer.

Mostly used for estuary fishing up to just 40metres.

is there any improved functionality i can enable.?

Can i get it to display : Structure Scan 3D..?

Or maybe HDS Live is what i need..? more money :)

Hey guys have an issue with my elite 7 hdi, when ever i plug my transducer into the unit I get a ticking sound from the actual unit, (not the transducer) 

and nothing shows on the screen, but if I plug it into my elite 7x chirp it works fine, could there be an issue with the unit,

the gps and everything else works fine 

 Is anyone getting good sonar reads over 10 knots

I have an older 27' Riviera Flybridge which I have begun taking out further to about 150m deep. I have her at Port Stephens. I have a Lowrance Elite 9 Ti2 with the standard 3 in 1 transom mount tranny.

Now, I'm losing bottom at about 80m and don't like the idea of the transom mount tranny.

I'm taking her out end of this month for antifouling and was hoping to install a through hull tranny whilst out of the water.

I have been looking at the Airmar SS75M (600w) at $969 or the SS175M (1kw) at $1329. I know my Elite is only a 500w unit but also looking at upgrading further down the track.

I'm after some advice on best Tranny to get at a reasonable price which will work now with the Elite and then when I upgrade possibly HDS unit.

Is the 1kw tranny worth the extra $360 or not?

Also as I have a flybridge was hoping to be able to link the new fish finder to my Elite as a screen only so I can have one at each helm? Also, I have been told the HDS units have 2 tranny plugs which I can then keep the 3 in 1 tranny for bay fishing etc??

Or do I need a whole new setup with 2 new finders, etc. at a million dollars???

Had a bit of a search with not much luck but trying to work out how to clear and reset the track as sometime the marks I fish around are quite cluttered. Put up with it for years but surely must be some way of clearing and restart ? Cheers for any help.

 A mate of mine has a Yamaha 70 hp four stroke and wants to be able to display engine and fuel data on his HDS Live. There is no nmea 2000 backbone fitted to the boat but he does have 2 Yamaha CY8 Multi Function gauges. So my question is what is required to connect the Yamaha to a nmea backbone is there a loom to go from the back of the gauges or direct from the engine? 

Testing out an Active Imaging 3in1 transducer strapped onto an inflateable tender. These dolphins looked huge in shallow water.

 Hey fellas, read loads of this site but never posted. So heres my first one. 

Ive got a Lowrance HDS12 for side scan and down scan and use a Lowrance HDI5 for GPS. The 12 is OK for side scan but if I use it on downscan it is very slow and takes ages to come on if I swap from side scan (up to 1min) and the scan speed is slower than the HDI5.

Has anybody got a name for a local expert on Lowrance OR anybody whose really good with them. I'm SOR in Munster and am willing to take an expert out for the day on my little boat to go through a set-up or drive it to somehwere where they can take a look at it. Beers provided on either option.

I'm at the point of changing it as i think its crap OR is it just me. How has everybody else found the HDS12 ?

 I have just purchased a Lowrance Hook2 7 TS/Combo.  After firing it up I have not been able to calculate the distance between any two points on the chart. According to the manual it is a simple process ie, select first position on the chart using the cursor - quick press ENTER - select MORE OPTIONS tab on the sub menu display - select MEASURE DISTANCE tab and proceed from there.  According to Lowrance it should work but the MEASURE DISTANCE tab does not appear.  Has anyone else had this problem and if so know how to fix it?

was wondering on peoples opinion about having transducers mounted on the port side?

some people are telling me that the prop will cause interference, wehereas others are saying it isnt an issue?

any thoughts on this? looking at the posiitoning it looks like the prop would be back far enough o to be an issue, esp if moving forward?

i have a bit of a dilemna. with my new sounder/transducer coombo i seem to be loosing bottom when fihsing in depth above 30m at anything above 4-5 knots.

i have a hds live 12, with the 3 in 1 transducer on a carribean reef runner. i have tried playing around with angles of the transducer and ping, scroll speeds etc, but nothing seems to make a diff.

strange thing is that when in about 20m or below seems to read well at up to 18knots.

almost seems liek not enough power?

any suggestions? most of the fishing im gogin to be doing will be in 30m and deepr, so trying to scout new ground will become very frustrating at 4 knots.

i went out after work to drop craypots out for Easter. I have just recently bought a hook reveal 7 triple shot and this is the first time I have used it,  when going onto sonar page it says stopped and is not showing anything at all, I downloaded the manual when I got home but it did not really help me, so is anyone able to enlighten me on how to get sonar on this unit, am going back out Friday to check pots hopefully can get it sorted cheers.

My lowrance elite 5 is taking a long time to get a gps fix it's pretty annoying at the moment, it's been happening for a while now, but what I found yesterday is if I take out navionics card if finds gps pretty much straight away, but then when I put the card back in it drops out again straight away, turning it on and off a few times and pulling the cable out and back in it will finally get a gps signal, so I am wondering if my navionics card is the problem has anyone else had this problem on there unit  or give advice as to why this is happening, I have it mounted on dash and always put it away before I wash boat down so I don't think it has got any water in it as it has a cover over the card slot anyway cheers

Another Transducer positioning and sounder set up question.

I have an Elite 7 Ti with the Totalscan tranducer and having the common issue of it not reading at speed. I had it out to 40m the other day and couldn't read anything over about 4-6 kn. Over that I had to dial the sensitivity and colorline WAY back, to the point that i'm not confident i'm actually going to sound anything. Then when I slow down it's basically a blank screen until i dial it back up. I was running it in High Chirp mainly but also tried med. chirp and 200kHz, same reults basically.

I understand it's all about transducer positioning but I have tried a couple positions (inside and outside of mounting plate) and as low as i can go. Anyway, I have attached pics of the current (and previous, inside) positions for your comments/advice.

I have also attached some pics of out at 40m last week, both at speed and drifting. Also, feel free to let me know what i'm looking at in terms of bottom. I did manage a Black ass and size Dhu off some of it.

Can anyone tell me if this card has shell beds marked on it dont seem to see them ?
Watch a episode of Big Angry Fish and they said shell beds were marked on there sounder, not sure what card they had but.

 Hi can anyone tell me what transducer I have as the tag has fallen off, it has Skimmer  and Pats 5.109.364 D329.616 written on it. It is on a HDS 8 and I was playing around with various setting and have noticed it is set to generic so was thinking might be better to select the right option if I only knew what it is. I have attached  a copile of photos of it for ID.

I have an Elite 9 Ti2 with the active scan 3-1 transducer installed on a Haines Hunter V17 and am unable to read the bottom when travelling above about 16 to 17 knots.  I have been in contact with the Lowrance technicians (APAC) who have mad a few suggestions about moving positions but so far nothing has worked.  There latest comment is that basically it might not work on a deep vee hull which would have been nice to know before I forked out my hard earned.  

My questions is has anyone on this forum had any luck setting up active scan transducers to read the bottom above 17knots and if so could you share some pics of the set up.

 Hi everyone, I have acquired a 1st Gen Lowrance HDS7 and am still getting use to it. Does anyone who owns one ar knows a bit have any advive or info for a good set of settings? I also have the Structure Scan HD but am figuring out how to mount it the best way. Help would be greatly appreciated!!!

My Lowrance HDS7 gen 2 seems to be having some issues. Used it for the first in 6 months, worked fine before. First off it loaded but wouldn’t show map detail, after a number of restarts it showed the map but the time wouldn’t work. Just trying it at home now and it’s only loads the screen in pic and then restarts. Seems to just keep doing this. Not sure if it’s something to do with the GPS time reset problem. Any has similar issues?
