Headed out on Tuesday in readiness for this Sundays sambofest charter with Saltwater. Check out the hordes of sambos following the hooked fish (2:50) Sometimes they'd come almost to the surface before retreating. After this spot I headed deeper (see photo) and got totally smashed twice by some hefty ones. Not liking the idea of these poor sambos with 200g worth of bling hanging from them I popped in to the tackle shop on the way home and had the pe3(40lb) boat braid replaced with pe4(70lb) Ocea braid... Might be able to slow down the angry ones :) Bring on Sunday.

Was looking at some videos from a trip last year, these 2 are quite funny.  First video is a yellowfin tuna that turned into a shark (just before 3 mins for the impatient) . The angler had enough and gave the rod to the skipper. Part 2 shows the fight ending with a large jobu hook snapping! Sorry the cinematography is a bit rubbish! 

Never ceases to amaze me how good the Billfish in Exmouth are. It is a truly world class billfishery.

We were lucky enough to have two cracks at them recently one in November and one in December.

In December we treated ourselves to a couple of days with PEAK Sportsfishing and I cant reccommend these guys highly enough they are a very swithched on outfit and we had a ball fishing with them.

Not long ago someone mentioned removing the pectoral fins so I thought I'd post a clip of how we do it. There's a good feed in the bigger fish and it's not hard once you know how.

I was out having a paddle on the yak yesterday morning out behind Tern Island in Safety Bay when I came across these two dolphins 'playing' with a couple of BIG rays.

At first I thought they may have been feeding together and half expected to see a school of bait fish or something when I saw the footage but there was nothing that I could see.

It was a pretty cool sight - gonna have to start carrying a set of goggles and flippers on board - would have loved to have had a dive with them. 

Excuse the shaky footage, I got this with the GoPro on the pole. In these situations the GoPro's really are a PAH camera - Point And Hope.

Anyone else seen them behaving like this?

So I managed to get last Thursday off work.
Badly in need of some time on the water I headed up to Two Rocks for a solo mission. Determined to get fish on jig I left the bait at home. A lumpy morning turned into a nice arvo and managed, for the first time, to get my bag limit on jig only. Not big fish... but the sense of achievement was.

Even got some gopro footage.
