fake turf installers?
Submitted by saltydog on Mon, 2013-01-07 12:58Anyone recommend installers of fake turf norther/eastern suburbs?
Reason being,
James14 off this forum who I purchased the roll from is no longer running the biz
and has moved to Qld so can no longer help me out for the stage I am at.
I have just about finished the install but was wanting a quote to do the joining, nailing and infill.
I contacted Green Planet Grass in Malaga as they seem to be one of the bigger companies
but because I didn't buy the grass from them they weren't interested at all.
Must say very rude not willing to help with any rec of others in the industry that may be able to help,
was hung up on and the other person I spoke to when I called back was just as bad, bunch of %^!$@*#%^!!!!!!
So anyone know of a good mob that could give me a quote.
I have done the google search and some of the gallery photos from others work is pretty bad
why I'm after recommendations.
cheers

Rottnest Swim
Submitted by davidbland50 on Fri, 2013-01-04 23:28G'day all,
I'm hoping someone can help me or more so an associate of mine. I elected to be a skipper for an individual swimmer in this years Rottnest swim. However, I have now been booked in to have a hip replaced at the end of this month, which of course, rules me out of the up and coming event.
I am wondering if there is anybody here who would be able to fill my shoes and help out this swimmer from the east coast. Of course, he is more than willing to pay all expenses and time spent. Please let me know and I will forward your details to him.
Regards all.
Thanks Campbells

Picked up this combo from Campbos in Leederville yesterday. Thought I owed myself something nice because, well, just because! Thought about the new gopro but that can wait a bit considering I've already got a couple at home. Needed a plastics/jigging outfit now that I've got the boat, and totally felt undergunned out in the 40s last week jigging with a 4-6kg Nitro Magnum Butt, although I still managed a small sambo! Anyone else using the same outfit or either the Catalina 4000 or Catalina Game 68S rod?

(it was in AV when i gave it to him) Now i cant select AV, TV, or M modes. as i turn the dial it skips these modes and goes through to the auto modes. I am very much hopeing he has done something in the menu by accident and the camera is not on the way out. Anyone got any ideas? oh its a canon 450D

Great help from BCF in Busselton
Submitted by Buz on Wed, 2012-12-26 22:58Just thought id post up my experience of great customer service at BCF in Busselton last Saturday.
Night before i broke the screw on my GME antenna for my boat(that allows it to be raised or lowered) so was stuck with a non functioning radio and didnt really want to head out with it in that state from a safety and a fines aspect. Was my own fault was a bit stiff/stuck so just got some multi grips out, and yep snap. OOps :O
Thought being so close to Chrissy my only chance in Busso was maybe BCF for getting a new screw as the rest of the antenna was fine. Well got down there to find out they dont sell spare screws but they could order one, but it probably wouldnt arrive till after New Years. Not good i thought considering i planned to head out the next day. So i was looking at the prospect of buying a whole new antenna assembly for $74.95, all because of one broken screw. Would have sucked to have to re-run the wire cable for it too.
But just then the manager saw what was going on and came up and said, its all good and they'll just pull one off a new antenna and give it to me FOR FREE, and that they would order a new one and put it back on whenever it would arrive. Couldnt believe my luck! Got what i needed and for free. My old antenna was already out of warrenty but probably would have been anyway even if under 12 months as you could see the multi grip teeth marks on it.
So just remember the bigger chain fishing stores arent all bad, sometimes they can be exactly what you are looking for.

WA ocean heatwave linked to shark attacks
Submitted by sarcasm0 on Tue, 2012-12-25 07:32WA ocean heatwave linked to shark attacks
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-12-23/wa-ocean-heatwave-linked-to-shark-attack/4441672
The West Australian Department of Fisheries says it will conduct further research on a marine heatwave that has been linked to a recent spate of fatal shark attacks in Western Australia.
Scientists say the unprecedented heatwave occurred off the WA coast between 2010 and 2011, and could be responsible for declining fish stocks and increased shark activity.
Ocean temperatures rose up to five degrees last summer, and the Department says that has led to pockets of cooler water developing near the coastline.
The Department's research director, Dr Rick Fletcher, says this may be causing sharks to move closer to shore.
"If there is a relatively smaller area of cooler water inshore, then the sharks could be concentrated in that smaller area," he said.
Dr Fletcher says further studies will be carried out to determine the long-term effects of the heatwave on fish stocks and shark activity.
"If we actually understand a little bit more about what conditions are more or less likely to have concentrations of White Sharks or Tiger Sharks, than we can inform the public about what the conditions are likely to be," he said.
"Two years post that initial heatwave, what's happened both to the stocks but also what's happened to the oceanographic conditions, have they returned? Or has that change dissipated over the past two years."
There have been five fatal shark attacks along the WA coast in the past two years, prompting a raft of research aimed at trying to better understand the animals.

Merry Chrismas to all from Carnarvon Sea Rescue
Submitted by carnarvonite on Tue, 2012-12-25 07:23Wishing all members and guests a very merry Christmas and prosperous new year.
If you are travelling please be aware of others on the road and have a safe journey.
Unlike my counterpart Mark from Whitfords sea rescue I don't have radio duty this morning but instead have Boxing days afternoon shift and with the forecast for strong winds won't expect there will be too many venturing out to interrupt the cricket and yacht race on tv.
