4x4 Advice!
Submitted by Bruce on Tue, 2016-01-05 08:39Morning fellas,
Currently looking to buy a 4x4 for purely offroad use. Looking to spend about 7k and was wondering what peoples choices would be. It will be my second vehicle so not really worried about fuel efficiency etc... Must have high/low range. Don't really mind 3 or 5 door either. Used mostly on the beach and through the dunes, and maybe on holidays up the coast!
On my hit-list are:
- Suzuki vitara's
- Kia sorento ~ 2004/5
- Jeep cherokee ~2001ish V8
- Landrover Discovery ~ 1999 V8
So basically, what would you be looking at for that budget?
Thanks boys!

Jetty in a poor state
Submitted by carnarvonite on Sun, 2016-01-03 12:30Took the rescue boat for a quick run to keep the batteries up and took a few photos of the jetty here in Carnarvon.
There are lots of piles that have the middle section eaten out by worms, makes me wonder why some of it hasn't collapsed by now. The amount of damage has greatly increased in the last 6 months or so. The bloke fishing on the end of the jetty had a small shark on but lost it trying to lift it up to the deck---no cliff gaff or long handled one.
After leaving the old jetty we cruised in to what's left of the prawning jetty where 4 people were fishing and dropping everything they caught straight in the bucket regardless of size. Once they spotted me taking photos it was pack up and off as quick as they could. Bugger, we didn't have the fisheries number on or phones but I think they got the message though.

Pots stolen
Submitted by carnarvonite on Tue, 2015-12-29 07:43Got a call from a mate down in Greenhead, telling me that since the holidays have started he has had 5 pots stolen, his neighbour is nearly in the same boat with four. Lucky enough that they cut up old pallets and build their own but it still costs for bait baskets, floats , ropes and steel for the escape gaps
They reckon from now on whenever there is an influx of holiday makers the pots are coming out.
To make matters worse, they haven't had a whites run this year so things have been pretty tight.

Lost gear
Submitted by Cruise Control on Sat, 2015-12-26 12:17My bro-in-law's boat sank at its mooring in Rocky Bay out at Rotto on Xmas eve. He lost a fair bit of gear that floated out of the hull. It's got full flotation so lucky he didn't lose the whole boat.
he has recovered some gear but his main loss is a big Yellow esky probably 150 litres. If anyone sees it or knows of someone who has recovered one, I would be grateful of you could let me know who they are or pass on a contact number.
cheers

BBQ Spit Thanks to Epic Marine
Submitted by eziliving on Mon, 2015-12-21 05:48Last week i was going to make a frame for a bbq spit I had saved from going to the tip, as my sons 18th birthday was saturday night just gone. Last saturday i got a phone call work related so i had to go to Port Hedland for the week. With everything already arranged for the boys 18th, i decided to go and see Todd from Epic as he has done plenty of work for me previously. After a quick discussion and a sketch Todd said he will have it ready for me. True to his work Saturday i went down to pick it up and sure enough it was ready. being the first spit i have done i learnt a few things for the next one but this still tastest great. Big thanks to Todd for getting this done for me.
