footy Round 1 - Banter is back
Submitted by crasny1 on Thu, 2016-03-24 14:00Its back . Know there is the tipping page but not everyone is in that. So here go.
Don't think there is any particular one we can start to "pick" on with this one, but its good to be back.
Let it all start again.
Will also "bump" the top8 predictor for last predictions.
Good luck to all, but I take it back for everyone not an Eagles (or to a lessor extent Dockers) fan.
No longer really "2 team", more like 1 1/2.

Fisheries, its not all happy stories!
Submitted by Rob H on Tue, 2016-03-22 18:25 Have a read of this below.
Basically Fisheries prosecuted a diver for bringing up more than his 8 crays and gauging onboard the boat, as many people including me.
Their idea was that you have "taken" those crays once onboard, despite this not being the case with pots, having 5 minutes to return the kakkas etc.
This guy took it to court and won, with the judge awarding costs to the defendant.
This annoys the shit out of me, and is the reason I got myself involved with Recfishwest.
Fisheries wasting their goodwill and everybodies time and money prosecuting stupid crap that has no effect on the fishery itself just like last years "you can only keep crays from your own pot".

What do you do for a living - 2016
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2016-03-22 09:13I'm sure there was another of these back in 14/15 but can't seem to find it. Time for an update. So what do you do for a living in 2016? Me, I'm holding in there with Health and Safety at the moment and run the Site on the side, always busy and not enough time for fishing lately, but really need to start changing the work life balance again as the scales are getting tipped in the wrong direction lately.

AFL Rnd 1 (is it too early)
Submitted by randall df223 on Sat, 2016-03-19 20:24Footy is back!
Round one... my tips are locked in but i reserve the right to change them right up to bounce down on thursday night.
Just wondering how everyone thinks their team recruited over the summer? I see the Eagles prize recruit got three possessions on debut
and is unlikely to play round one. Richmond's came back to preseason 7kgs overweight. On the other hand geelong's has just cut sick and freo's is starring but may not be able to force his way into the team (i suspect ross is throwing outa red herring there).
Anyway, i think i am tipping
Whoever is playing carlton and essendon. West coast and freo, gws, roos, pies, port and geelong.
Good luck everyone. And heave ho!

Lowrance HDS importing/ exporting waypoints help please
Submitted by Quobbarockhopper on Sat, 2016-03-19 16:59Hey all
Am having some issues putting some waypoints into a both a HDS8m Gen 1 and HDs12m Gen2 touch plotters. Ive spend a lot of hours trying to figure this out, and assume Im going wrong somewhere along the way, but cant work out where- am experiencing different issues with both models on the HDS. Any help would be greatly appreciated…
1) HDS8M Gen 1ssues: We have an excel document with a fair few spots on it. I converted it to the following format (S24° 44.372' E113° 12.539' ) and saved in CSV format. I then have used the trial version Expertgps to convert this to a .usr file (the type the HDS like apparently). I then put the .usr file on a SD card and tried to load it into the HDS8m Gen1 through the usual means (utilities > files > .usr file > import). The .usr file then shows in the “my files” section- see first pic below). So it seems like it has been done.
But, when I go to my waypoints list, none of the marks show up in the list. Am I missing a simple step? Or is the CSV-.USR conversion through ExpertGPS the issue? Or perhaps the coordinates format Im using is wrong (even through it seems to successfully convert them to USR?)
And
2)When I try to import the spots (using the .usr file to the HDS12mGen2, it allows me to import the marks and they show in the waypoint list, but the details are blank (coodinates etc just listed as 00.000.000 etc- see the 2nd pic belowion 4 versions of the file to put them onto both GPSs thinking that might be the issue, but its not working with either
The more I play with them, I think I must have stuffed something up in the conversion of them, but the fact that both units have different issues with the file seems strange.
Or, maybe much better still (and would hopefully solve ALL the issues- if anyone could recommend to me a process that can get the spots from an excel document (either .xls or .csv file) in the S22° 23.372’ E113° 15.559' format onto both the HDS8Gen1 and HDS12gen2, I would be very much appreciated
Thanks heaps in advance. Ill owe whoever helps me a 6 pack at least!

Boating etiquette or is it just me
Submitted by todd davies on Tue, 2016-03-15 15:02Is it just me or over the last few years there seems to be more boats coming closer to you when you are fishing or diving.Im not sure what drives individuals to b line to a boat if they see them fishing or diving but certainly over the years its getting unbelievably frustrating. Two weeks ago Saturday the 27th of feb I was diving of myalup with a mate and my step son watching the boat (dive flag up) and a muppet drove past my boat and stopped on the bubbles above where we were diving to what I can only assume to mark the spot. Not only is this practice extremely dangerous its illegal to do so. Unfortunately my step son didn't get the boat number but described it as around 6m marone bar crusher with a radar and two large white antennas. He had a radar for god sake and still had to park on top of us which gives you a good indication of his intelligence .unfortunatelly without a number we couldn't complete a full report with dept of transport. Is it just me?

LCD Polarizer Film
Submitted by sandbar on Mon, 2016-03-14 22:18I need to fix the LCD display on my jetski and after research i come to the conclusion I can repair it by replacing the LCD polarizer Film? Hardest part is finding the film of reasonable size in Australia. I can get it for IPhones and the like but it is too small. I can also recycle the product but then I need the adhesive. Is anyone able to point me in th eright direction?

Daiwa and Gamakatsu Car/ Boat Decals- where to get them?
Submitted by Quobbarockhopper on Sat, 2016-03-12 14:26Hey all
Not sure if this belongs in a WTB in buy/sell or not, but anyway....
Just bought a new set of wheels and looking for some specific stickers/ decals for it
Not into over the top bling but am looking for both a decent quality Gamakatsu and Daiwa decal. I've done the usual googling and eBay browse, but I'm a bit particular on what I'm after, being:
- a Daiwa (name only in the straight font block writing- not Team Daiwa or an emblem) sticker- preferably vinyl but not essential, a about 300x100 to 400x200mm size.
- Gamakastu in about 150x50 to 200x75mm size
That in itself isn't too hard to find, but I'm a bit picky and only want them in reflective silver or gold colour. Also no background- the type that's just the letters only and has the double sticky sides so you can put them straight onto the surface, if that makes sense...
I know the search is a bit vain, but if anyone could point me in the right direction, would be much lay appreciated! Many even a decal maker who be prepared to knock a couple up?
Cheers

Setting up an Aquarium
Submitted by Ashen on Sat, 2016-03-12 09:41Hi guys. Setting up an aquarium for fancy goldfish and looking for abit of advice.
The tank size is 120cm long, 50cm wide and 60cm deep. I will have 3 canister filters running, all filled with bio balls and ceramic ring noodles. One of the return hoses will go to the inbuilt filter compartment in the Aquarium hood. It will be filled with chemical filtration such as activated carbon etc. I set it this way so that the chemical media can be added/removed without disturbing the biological filter media in the canisters.
Is there such a thing as too much filtration? Haha
Now, i am not sure whether to use sand or it leave the bottom bare. The tank sits on greenish blue foam so if I dont use substrate, the foam can be seen through the bottom of the tank, eliminating glare. Have read mixed opinions online regarding sand vs gravel vs bare bottom..
Thoughts?

Meth charges thrown out of court
Submitted by Cruise Control on Sat, 2016-03-12 09:13Is it me ? Am I reading this wrong ?
Following on from the large number of posts regarding the attack on a fisherman by 3 offenders armed with a baseball bat, I was amazed to read this mornings West where on Page 5, a judge has dismissed charges against two men charged over a $320m meth haul.
The charges were apparently thrown out by the judge because the police didn't provide a hard copy of their evidence to prosecutors, they provided the evidence in soft copy ie on 26 disks. The Judge apparently "was astounded" at the police attitude and that he was of a mind to drop the charges. He went on to dismiss the charges and said the men should be released from custody.
My "law 101" experience fails to understand how this situation could arise. Are we not striving to be a paperless society, can the prosecutor not print out her own documents ? Are we really going to let these guys go over something so trivial ?
Unless there is more to this or I am missing something this is an absolute joke. How the fark are we supposed to stop meth in society when this bullshit occurs ?

Then came across this article
which I cannot paste here
Bottom line a search for the Aagtekerk, thought to have been wrecked very close to the Zeewijk
