Submitted by petermac on Tue, 2016-05-03 19:24I had my car rego , motorcycle rego , boat trailer rego and boat rego all come in within a fortnight of each other , why is there a rego payment option that of 3 , 6 and 12 months for the car, motorbike and boat trailer and no option option on boat rego you have to pay a full 12 months when it comes to boat rego , i can pay the full 12 months but it must be hard for those on struggle street , and why are we still paying for a sticker to put on our boats when we dont have one on our cars these days ????

Bean bags
Submitted by Comrad on Tue, 2016-05-03 11:23Hi All,
I wanted to ask peoples opinion/experience with bean bags in the boat. My dad and I recently went on a charter where the centre console boats would regularly travel 60kph in 3 metre swell/19 knot winds. As such, they had bean bags where you could sort of rest in the floor to avoid crushing your vertebrae. My dad loved them, and is seriously considering getting one (not for me, the gunnels on my boat are a little taller, and I go a little green if I go below them). I figured it might be a good fathers day present or something.
My question is about whether anyone here has used non-marine versions of them for the boat. I've seen all the marine ones online which certianly look the goods, but, they're about $100 USD, then postage. I'm wondering whether I can't just get a cheapy fabric one from K-Mart and use that. I suppose my concern is mostly the salt water. Obviously I would hose it down after a trip, but, I'm not sure how long it would take to dry out, and whether it would then develop mildew/mould. Also, I wondered if it was just regular fabric whether it would go fairly brittle fairly quick - last thing I want is 10,000 little polystyrene balls getting loose on the boat, particularly when we're out on the water.
I look forward to hearing anyone's thoughts they may have.

Where to go North?!
Submitted by Bruce on Mon, 2016-05-02 20:39Howdy,
I've booked a week off work in July and am planning on a camping/ fishing/ 4x4 trip up north somewhere, but not quite sure where that somewhere is. I'll just need to grab a Waeco and a generator and then I'll be self sufficient (if I go an unpowered site), got everything else for camping already.
Really want to make it a worth while trip, catch good fish and stay at a great location. I know the South West too well so was thinking Kalbarri or Shark Bay somewhere.
Was thining Denham because theres a bit there, boat ramp etc. Can do day trips to Steep, Francois NP...Maybe Monkey Mia after Randals good report. Nanga doesn't look too bad. Kalbarri is okay but I think Shark Bay in general has more to offer!
Looking at somewhere 9 hours or less.
Where have you been? Would you go back again? More importantly, hows the fishing?
Any input appreciated! Cheers

Stereo speakers
Submitted by Cruise Control on Mon, 2016-05-02 16:47What are the best weatherproof speakers to get? I'm getting tired of replacing the same GME ones that I buy, they only last a season, if that, before they corrode out. Not looking for boom box performance just something to get some tunes in the boat and won't fall to pieces in 12 months. They do cop a bit of water now and then so the more water proof/resistant the better.
cheers

Under floor storage/kill tanks
Submitted by Boydy on Sun, 2016-05-01 20:31G'day Crew,
Chasing opinions on under floor storage/kill tanks as the title suggests.
Having recently purchased a glass boat it has a 130 odd liter compartment. Thinking of using this to actually keep fish in with a ice slurry over the course of the days fishing. Couple of concerns, one is its not actually insulated and secondly, cleaning it out. It is a sealed tank with a bung that drains straight into the hull and I'm not real keen to dump it into the bilge/hull to hopefully wash all the muck out.
So what does every one do with these, bail them and wipe out, just wash them through the hull and out the hull bung or not bother and just run a esky on deck.
Just trying to maximize deck space?
Not too concerned about it not being insulated as fish would only be in there for the days outing.
Appreciate your thoughts on what to do with these.
Cheers.

Any good deals on Lowrance going? Transducer recommendations also
Submitted by beau on Fri, 2016-04-29 13:43Hey guys, currently in the market for 2 NEW Lowrance units, both HDS Gen 3 series. Has anyone been looking around lately and found any deals or can anyone recommend someone they dealt through? I seem to recall Chivers being dealers for Lowrance but cant find anything on their site. Also looking for someone to install these units and transducers if anyone can recommend.
I also have no idea what transducer is suited to me. Will be going on a ~5.5m ali boat, transom mount. Mostly fish shallow, >50m, but still want to find those smaller patches of ground. Is there anything better than the stock transducer that comes with the unit thats going to help? Will also be running 3D Structure Scan.
Thanks guys,
Beau.

Rd 6 - getting harder to tip this one
Submitted by crasny1 on Thu, 2016-04-28 09:41Not so easy this one.
NM vs Bullies - North cant keep it up all yr, so WBD
Melbourne St's - Melbourne
Adelaide Freo - in Adelaide them
hawks GWS - taking a punt - GWS at home (this will test them to see where they stand)
Richmond Port - 2 strugglers, toss a coing at MCG Richmond
Cats GCS - cats
Brisbane Swans - poor brissy - Swans
Carlton Essendon _ wouldn't be surprised the other way, but Blues
WCE Collingwood - at home WC, but still to be convinced that they are the real deal this year. About time they showed themselves

WAFL in Kulin
Submitted by lachieH on Mon, 2016-04-25 21:53gday everyone,
just wondering what everyone thinks of having a WAFL match in Kulin on the weekend? Just for some background info Kulin is a small town in the Wheatbelt region, and the game is Claremont vs West Perth. I reckon it's great that they do this occasionally for the small Wheatbelt towns and they should maybe have this sort of thing more often for the country folks that can't get to the city to watch league footy or AFL footy.
thanks,
lachie

AFL Round 5
Submitted by Justin M on Thu, 2016-04-21 07:25Hawks v Adelaide
Swans v Eagles
Suns v Roos
Bulldogs v Lions
Port v Cats
Saints v Giants
Freo v Blues
Demons v Tigers
Pies v Bombers
Looks like it will be a difficult one for tipping, well maybe for me anyway...Blues have been improving but surely the Shockers can notch their first win and end all these Owen memes once and for all? Eagles haven't won at the SCG for over fifteen years. Hawks 3-1 but haven't been too convincing coming up against Adelaide, who had a cracking win last week. Congratulation to Silk on his 300th game btw. Which Tigers will show up against Melbourne, was Watts game against the Pies last week a one off and will mediocrity resume? Will April's premiers Roos continue their good start and finally show they really mean business? Are Port well and truly shot to pieces? Pies and the Bombers? How many memes will tim-o flood the forum with if the Dockers go down? Interesting times ahead!

Knee Buckled
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Mon, 2016-04-18 09:29Was playing a beauty yesterday racking up clearances galore through the middle, hitting targets and feeling the fittest I’ve felt since I had cartilage removed from my knee last year. Picked up the loose ball and worked through traffic to nail my team mate with a low snap and he spilled it resulting in a turnover. I gave chase on the inside and as he went to handball back in I changed direction but my knee didn’t and it gave way with a big thunk and down I went screaming in anguish. After a couple of minutes I got the courage to try to stand on it and I was able to walk off with no pain and get some ice on it.
I didn’t get a chance to ice it properly as my mate got his ribs broken and punctured his lung as I rushed him to hospital and stayed with him until it was determined he was in for the night and went to his place to feed his dogs and get him some fresh clothes etc.
I’m pretty stiff, swollen and sore today. Seeing the physio soon and getting an MRI done tomorrow morning so really just expecting the worst and hoping for the best but the way I went down doesn’t fill me with a lot of confidence.
Anyhow that’s my sob story for the week and if I’ve done my ACL you can expect a few more fishing reports!
