Bugs
Submitted by Shane O on Sat, 2018-02-03 16:29Anyone know where I can get morteon bay bugs around Mandurah, need to get 3 or 4 before next Friday.
Doing a wildcard entry for a seafood dish at smokin in the port, would do crays but a little too expensive

How did you go yesterday
Submitted by Gav475 on Sat, 2018-02-03 10:58Headed out from two rocks to the bank. Was hard work early and had to fish alot of marks with not much happening. Shifted again a bit further north and the sounder lit up. Multiple dhuies pinkies baldies rat sambos and the biggest black bum I have seen. Took our bag of 2 dhuies 1 pinkie and 1 baldie and left them bitting. Great day out and back in at 28 knots on flat seas with a lovely bag. Nice slab of fresh dhuie for dinner last night. So how did everyone else go as the ramp was busy as.

Winds
Submitted by dakka on Sat, 2018-02-03 10:23Howdy All
I have a general question about wind direction, because as with most I work weekdays and have weekends off, with the wind and swell not agreeing most of the time we are off. I know the 15 rule but my question is what direction of wind should I be looking for to head out from Rockingham for a fish and what winds are a no no to head out in, I have a 5.25m western craft cheers

Unreel
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Fri, 2018-02-02 21:08Had a horrendous episode of pinging today. Drifted a spot in the 40s off Hillarys today and after the 3rd drift a nice black hulled Haines Hunter called 'Unreel' proceeds to pull up and start drifting at the start of my line.
Bit miffed but I pull back around and we manage to 'share' the drift without getting in each other's way. After another drift I look up to see him anchoring over the ground completely cutting out my drift.
We drove right up over their lines within 10m of their boat with some death metal cranking full volume and proceeded to reef in a nice estuary cod right in front of them to what can only be referred to as a celebration for the ages. Suck it Unreel. I hope they enjoyed their HJs for dinner coz they caught faaaaark all.

New Products, Latest Products, Deals & Back in Stock > February 2018
Submitted by Oceanside Tackle on Thu, 2018-02-01 14:54Well it's that time of year where the temperature’s on the rise so a good quality cooler for keeping your drinks and catch cold is a MUST!
A good quality ice-box has high density refrigeration foam (the cheaper versions don't have) and that is the KEY. It ensures maximum thermal insulation and WILL keep your ice/fish/food/crays and beers colder for longer which is especially important for those long trips up north and hot summer days.
BIG CHILL ICE BOX'S are an example of a quality ice-box that we stock and we just received another delivery.

South Australia Fishing
Submitted by Terry on Wed, 2018-01-31 17:06Gday Everyone,
We are soon to embark on a trip arond Australia and fishing is top of the agender. South Australia first stop. Are there any South Aussies hereabouts , or anyone else that could shed some info on beach fishing around Adelaide please. Namely areas of Yorke & Eyre Peninsular and down towards Cape Jervis and Victor Harbour. Would be doing beach and estuary fishing I am thinking. And I suppose I will have to sneak around to Coffin Bay and get into a few oysters
. At this stage maybe thinking of the smaller fish like KG whiting, Herring etc. But certainly not limited to those species .....
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

What tackle bags for jigs and trolling lures?
Submitted by randall df223 on Tue, 2018-01-30 15:33In the process of replacing my el cheapo tackle bags. Forgot to rinse them after last trip away and all the zips on two seized up. The only only that survived and has now been cleaned is my asari zip up bag that opens up with h/d plastic zip lock sleeves inside.
That asari bag has my bait rigs in it, for bait fish, herring, whiting, fresh and live bait as well.
I have bought another asari bag that now has my soft plastics and i have a special squid jig container on the way.
What i am chasing is storage solutions for metal jigs, and trolling lures (hard bodied and skirts).
Ideas, suggestions?

New Outboard
Submitted by Superfish on Mon, 2018-01-29 14:53I have a 20 foot Voyager Ghia that i bought 12 months ago and i am saving for a new replacemnt outboard. It has an Ocean Pro Evenrude 1998 model that is runnig fine but just want a new motor. The boat is in amazing condition including a brand new professionally built transom as the old one was rotted out. The sticker on the boat with the horsepower rating is obscured but have seen these boats or similar with 200 HP plus. I am thinking of upgrading to at least 150 HP or more but want the lightest possible engine. I must admit i really like the two stroke Evenrude and was wondering if anyone out there has one of these boats with a bigger motor and could give any advise or suggestions for the new motor.
Thanks for any help much appreciated.

Rules
Submitted by IncognitOh on Mon, 2018-01-29 01:47Straight out of the 2018 rule book, I came across the following:
Fishing gear
Legal fishing gear is outlined below; everything else is illegal.
Rods, lines and hooks – you can only use a maximum of three baits or lures on each line.
Does this mean that 5 or 6 hook sabiki rigs are actually illegal?

Abrolhos islands advice
Submitted by beeroclock on Sun, 2018-01-28 15:03Hi all im planning a trip to abrolhos islands for the first time around April when wind and swell is down. Have had a good look on the search function and found alot of good info. Just wondering if anybody could advise where is best to anchor for the night as i cant find specific info on that. Have been looking at navionics and figure Sandy island , Gun island or Stick island in the southern group or just west of Pelsart island are the go. We have a 22 footer and ideally we would like to anchor and sleep on the beach overnight but can sleep on the boat if we have to - all info greatly appreciated cheers dave

Rigs
Submitted by Helen on Sun, 2018-01-28 08:44Hi everyone. Can anyone recommend some good resources for learning different rig techniques? I’m fairly good with some of the deep sea rigs but more for land based. Also I want to know if anyone knows how to attached line to braid with that fancy wrap technique. Mine was set up like that till I caught a big fish and needed to cut the line. Thanks :)

How to find ground
Submitted by Jackson Dwyer on Sat, 2018-01-27 15:29Hi There,
I'm very new to fishing (dad & i have just bought a boat) and are primarily fishing out of dunsborough. Is anyone able to give me some help on finding good ground? Is it just a matter of looking at some charts and then driving around sounding for lumps/drop-offs etc?
Secondly, once you've found good ground what is the best way to anchor up over it? We're concerned about dropping the anchor and getting it snagged as we're not sure how to tell on the sounder whether we're above sand or something more snaggy.
Thanks in advance!

Kalbarri last week
Submitted by clogwog on Sat, 2018-01-27 08:59Ended up spending 3 days in Kalbarri, great place to take the family to relax.
My boats steering was locked up so hired a boat from Murchison boat hire, good clean solid boat. Fished the cliffs with one dropped fish, fished the 30s but really slow and no bites, ended up drifting and caught 5 silver cobbler of all things. Didn't know you could get them in Kalbarri.
Murchison was chocolate brown, ended up fishing from the river and had a good result catching approx 12 soapies. Kept 6 for a couple of meals.
Caught 1 x tagged fish, sent in the details and they confirmed that it had grown 90mm in 260 days and had travelled 11km.
Also all the Soapies had worms in the stomach cavity. Didn't tell the missus off course.
Also stayed in a hotel and got bitten badly by bed bugs, have let them know, won't make too much of it because shit happens, would recommend to sleep above the blankets and cover yourself with aeroguard. Itch like you wouldn't believe.
