Cray jizz
Submitted by scotto on Sun, 2017-11-26 16:28Here’s a handy hint, fuck yas:
sick of that shitty blue cray jizz gel stuck to the bottom of your esky, bucket, or the deck of your boat?
Instead of ripping off your middle cray flap close to the crays body, get yourself some scissors, and cut off only the bottom half of the cray flap. This stops them bleeding/jizzing that shit blue jizzy/gel shit all over your boat, esky, bucket, etc.
youre welcome.

Duelling crayfish and agro wobby
Submitted by crano on Sat, 2017-11-25 19:12Had a dive on thursday and saw 2 big crays having a brawl. I filmed them for about a minute before they decided I was too close and they took off.
Also had a little wobby swim over my sharkshield and opened its mouth right up and then swam past my buddy .
Last year in the same place I had one about the same size come from behind me and brush against me as it went past.
Crap quality pics as taken from gopro video.

Another Fish ID
Submitted by Fishn n Ridin on Wed, 2017-11-22 20:53I've used the Fish.wa.gov fish identification PDF but I'm not sure if I've found the fish or not, I was snorkelling today and found a fish I've not seen before, it was about 12-14 inches long (put my hand close to it for reference) and looked a bit like a chinaman rockcod, but had incredibly bright pink/orange lips. It was in some seaweed and rocks near Trigg. Any ideas?

Dropping pots
Submitted by Jim on Wed, 2017-11-22 18:37Is there a problem with dropping pots before 4.30am? I remember awhile ago some people got there knickers in a knot when a bloke was entering the marina before 4.30am. I have to get to work early so I need to drop them earlier. I couldnt find anything on the fisheries site.

Cockburn Sound/Mangles Bay- No Crabbing for 2107/18: Closure.
Submitted by Moking on Tue, 2017-11-21 10:48Here's a copy of Email recieved this morning:
Looks like it's still not good for the Crabs!
Further to the below and as you are aware, the Department recently completed its 2017 assessment of the status of the blue swimmer crab stock in the Cockburn Sound Crab Fishery.
The assessment identified that while the egg production index has improved, the abundance of juvenile crabs is still well below the limit reference point. Fisheries therefore considers it appropriate that the Fishery remain closed (to both sectors) for the 2017/18 season.
Fisheries will continue to undertake breeding stock and recruitment research surveys in Cockburn Sound throughout 2017/18 and re-assess the status of the Fishery next year. At this time, Fisheries will provide an update to the Western Australian Fishing Industry Council and Recfishwest on the status of the crab stock and discuss the future management arrangements for the Fishery.
If you require any further information please contact me.
Regards,
Jodie

Bottom Bouncing Rod
Submitted by selthy on Tue, 2017-11-21 08:06I'm looking for a new bottom bouncing rod for a 10,000 saragosa (50lb braid) primarily for bottom bouncing.
What should I be looking at? I'm thinking you can get some decent rods for this purpose at a reasonable price.

Green laser
Submitted by brown364 on Mon, 2017-11-20 21:44headed out from mindarie this morn around 0420 to drop the pots and as we past the marina entry there was a flash. I first thought lightning or camera flash but then , a couple of hundred meters on there was more light and when we looked back it was a green laser from the eastern side of the entry pointed at us and darting around my boat. Has anyone had this b4 at mindarie or elsewhere. Bit early on a Monday for Radom kids to be playing around I would have thought. Anyway, something different for the morning!
safe sailing over the crayzee season ![]()

River Soapies
Submitted by Spinnerak on Mon, 2017-11-20 19:49Hi all,
Have made it my mission to land a decent sized soapy this summer on bream gear.
At the minute looking at working deeper sections of the river with 4inch or so plastics and bouncing them along the bottom.
I have a kayak too,
Just looking for any direction as to where I should be focussing efforts (ie around bridges like mt Henry/Narrows) and what tides are best,
Andrew

Possible Dirk Harthog trip questions
Submitted by Wannafish on Mon, 2017-11-20 18:01Gday guys,
i am looking at taking the family (and boat) over to DHI for a week over New Years. I spoke to Tory at the 4WD Show, and again today, but forgot a few questions and was hoping someone else on here would have some info on the following...
what is the chance of getting a 5m Quintrex (and 60 series landcruiser) on the barge?
what are the flys / sandflies like over the New Years period?
can you have a fire (and I gather firewood would need to be bought in if so) - camping at the homestead camp ground?
what is the boat launching like up the eastern side of DHI? (Drop-down third wheel, used to beach launching)
how soft does the track into Steep Point get over summer?
where do people normally camp the night before catching the barge?
Would you take kids there this time of the year?
I know - these are questions I should have written a list for first to ask Tory, but hoping for some first-hand answers! Thanks heaps!
Drew
