I'm looking for some lure suggestions for targetting post-rain Mulloway. Have had luck with small metal slices on the smaller models, should I just increase lure size to find the larger ones ? I try to fish the clean-dirty water border and I've had strikes on broomhandle lures too. I'm using a 9ft Angler rod and a 4000 Cazna with 20lb braid. Cheers in advance. 

 Was in BCF the other day and they had the new carbons on display but the price tag was for the old HDS 2 units at $1080 so I thought I would try the shop assistant and ended up getting it at that price so couldnt resist. 

The unit came with a total scan all in one transducer, are these any good? Will be fishing in depths upto 50m max but usually 15 - 30m. What would the bsst transduced be for this situation? Would prefer to stay at a 600w rather than going to 1000w.

Also with the SD card slots, do the chart and storage cards go on left or right side or doesnt it matter? Noticed it isnt labelled.

 Anyone been snapper fishing off dawesville cut rocks with this stormy weather if so how did you go? Thinking about heading down there

We have been working through the idea of running a Saturday morning fresh bait market from our premises at Wangara.  We have all the permits, parking, building layout, refrigeration, packaging and can buy required products from many sources.  We are seeking feedback on the concept and how you would like to see it work.

The initial idea is 7am to 10am every Saturday morning at 65 Buckingham Drive Wangara.  We will make available fresh bait fish products that can be selected from tubs and weighed and packed as required.  Although product availability fluctuates, likely species are: pilchards, sardines, mullet, garfish, trevally, herring, whiting, mackerel, squid, octopus, tuna, plus others based on supply at the time.  Price per kilogram would be set on the market floor, but we would also barter price based on volume, although there would be no holds and you must take it with you.  There would be no guarantee of supply on the day, except for what we advertise prior as an available species and you arrive early enough to buy it.

Your thoughts on the concept would be appreciated.

 Went out yesterday arvo and ended up getting into some good fish with a dhu first drop followed by a 98 cm pinky which is lacking a good photo as i wanted to get it back in the water for a successful release, then another pinky which fought alot harder than the first smoked my sp and killed my old abu garcia ambassador 5500 which was almost as useless as tits on a bull by now, somehow landed this 92 cm pink on the oldest cheapest soft plastic i owned! Luck was on my side for sure with this one haha

 Went out for a play yesterday evening in a south metro, not so secret place along with 25 other boats and kayaks. Launched at 4:45, anchored in 10m of flat, protected water with burley in at 5. First fish was as the sun kissed the water and as the first targeted pinky on the boat (got an 85cm fluke three years ago) at around 60cm. Around 30 minutes later, the rod went off again with a Big Johns pink jig but it was rediculously small for the fish we were targeting and pulled. 

Over the next hour and a half, we landed another two fish (70 and 80), got a ray, Port Jackson, and two other significant runs that pulled out.

Best fish of the night was the final (80cm, 7kg), about 3 minutes after I said 'let's give I think another 30'. Stuffed up netting it and actually managed to hook the net with the bottom hook. Threw the net at the fish and got it in. When on the boat, both the leader on the hook in the net broke and the hook in the thinnest part of the fishes mouth snapped whilst trying to pick it up. 

If anyone else was in the area, we were the two blokes screaming and shouting like school girls when we got a fish...

After doing miles and miles and throwing thousands of dollars at these fish, was funny to get them where we did.

Pretty sure the Shore Catch block of burley was the winner as the fish were very much around us. Only heard one other boat catch something and when we left, two other boats moved to where we were.

Gotta be the most rewarding session I have had, perhaps ever. Total of 2.1m of fish at 17kg

Everything caught on Bait. Plastics, per usual, proved beyond useless.

Hit the water solo on Monday to give the new transducer a sea trial. Having installed a TM260 I was pretty happy with the results, not much wind with a little swell made for pretty consistent readings. Spent most of my time out there going over known ground, especially a couple of spots I've dived before to get an idea of what the sounder was showing up. Solid returns even when doing 35 knots on the way back in.

Only using jigs and plastics, was able to keep busy whilst grabbing a feed and some bait for next time out. Highlight was the tuna which took the abrolhos crayfish 100g jig I threw at it on the way back in. Managed to birds nest the spool on the cast and still get it in. Not often you see these guys busting the surface 200m offshore from bunbury.

 Ive never caught an LB snapper, So if you have any tips on rigs and general Snappe fishing please tell me (Fishing from cockburn sound rockwalls)

Seabreeze says NW winds between 6-10am but Fishranger is forecasting ENE both low report low winds of approx < 5 knots but the direction is different. Which to believe?

 I wonder if any one could advise how long it is ok to pre mix 50/1 fuel. A mate said six months but im not sure you can keep it that long? Do i need to add in some fuel additive? Thanks for any help much appreciated

Seeking advice on a light jigging rod. Around pe1-2, I already have a stradic 3000 fk with 15lb braid I plan on using, going for anything anything up to snapper and maybe even YTKs or Sambos (the challenge :P).

Budget is up to $150, so in the value range.

Also, any low priced recommended rods friends and stuff can use to drop for whiting?

Going to bring the boat (Haines Sig 6.1m) this weekend, just to explore the river and maybe find some bream.

I believe the mouth was broken very recently.  Does that mean there won't be enough water in the river to navigate safely?  According to Transport department's boating guide and Navionics, there should be 1-2m for a stretch?  Or is that dependent on the mouth being closed?

Getting a new car in the new future, and what to get something that can tow a boat (eventually), 

Iv'e been looking at an old (1998-2003) subaru outback wagon, is awd, 

Hoping to eventually get a centre console boat, and was wondering what size boat the car would be able to tow (if at all), and how it would handle launching off a boat ramp, 

would also be looking to do some light offroading with it, 

Just chasing peoples experiences or opinions on the matter, 

Any other suggestions that match the criteria would be greatly appreciated,

>Someone told me me that the rod takes around 66% of the load. So even though a reel may have 5kg max drag you need a 15kg load on the end of the line to exceed this.

How true is this statement? 

So in essence even though the max drag is 5kg, 30lb(15kg) line and a 30lb rod would be best if you want all your gear to be on the same failure plane.

Was manning 6CL this afternoon and there were almost traffic jams as both CPBA and Woodies ramps ....talk about mass exodus toward the rock walls and the D9 .....manic......come on how did everyone go given the impending crap weather as it was flat as a tack when I left after 5 

 Was  a great  arvo got into some lovely  fish which was part of a double hookup and a feed of squid plus an unexpected dhui which was released.
