I hope it was not as bad as it looked
Submitted by allrounder on Tue, 2011-02-22 18:50 I also hope it was no one from the forum either that had a bit of a mishap on the freeway tonight.A white 80 series towing a blueish ali boat about 6.2 long flipped the trailer near hodges drive.Looked a bit messy but dont think anyone would have been injured except maybe a dented pride and a few scrapes on the starboard side.![]()

Carnarvon Flooding.
Submitted by Elora Danan on Tue, 2011-02-22 07:17Hey guys,
For the people who live/work up in the Carnarvon area, how are you doing? Is it all going well? I'm just curious on how badly the water movements and rain has damaged the area. Myself and a few friends are heading up in a couple weeks and just seeing if it is possible for us to get up there for a fish.
Kind regards.

prawning light in progress
Submitted by fisho-ron on Mon, 2011-02-21 21:31hi guys
just got my new lights for prawning this year(still in progress)
60 led's per meter, submergable, 1.2amp draw per meter
i am running 4x 2.5mtrs strips on a pvc pipe setup that hangs of the towing hooks at the back of the boat, alot better than the halogens i tried a few weaks ago, with much less amp draw.
will try to get some in water shots soon and put up some pics.
bring on the prawns!!!

Ballooning
Submitted by Bisho on Mon, 2011-02-21 15:31Hi all,
Went fishing over the weekend off a little rock shelf I found a bit North of Leeman. Didn't have much time so I only pulled out the light gear, snagged a little Skippy and a couple of herring around 30 - 35cms. (I think that's a good size for herring isn't it?) I also caught some colourful little numbers that I didn't recognise, it had spots up top and stripes/blotches on it's body, colouring was black, yellow and silver, serious gill rakers and some nasty little spines up top and underneath. Anyone know what these were?
I released everything I caught anyway but the second part of this query is ballooning. This ledge I was on looked prime to drift out a balloon with a small herring or skippy on live, has anyone done this up that way? What would the possibility of a lurking spaniard be like?
Still relatively new to WA so any advice is appreciated!

throttle cable trouble
Submitted by Boppo on Mon, 2011-02-21 09:15Have just started work on my neglected 4m whaler and while most things are in great shape I have found the throttle cable to be buggered. I am having trouble getting into the forward control housing to remove it from that end. It is a Yamaha 40 2 stroke. Was wondering roughly what a new forward conrol set up might set me back or if I have any other options?
at last an ali boat that rides well!!!!
Submitted by Ryan C on Mon, 2011-02-21 07:41hi guys i thought i should share an interesting observation with you i have made in the last 2 weeks, i have been going in my mates boat ,560 bar crusher c/c last week we did 63 miles on the log and the week before we did 50+ miles and both trips were out of mindarie in pretty average conditions and amazingly i'm still as tall now as 2 weeks ago, these barcrushers REALLY ride well!!!, i have had 11 boats(10 ali 1 glass) and the last 4 before the current 25'7 glass c/c (seafox)have been well known ali hulls and the latest models quintrex 620 offshore(08),660 sportscab trailcraft(09), and this little barcrusher would eat every ali boat i have ever been on , so my advice if you are looking for a new boat and would like ali but want a reasonable ride check out the barcrusher range!!! i'll be looking at the 760 ht when it comes time to trade the seafox for sure!!! cheers

Rec. fishing licence renewal.
Submitted by iana on Sun, 2011-02-20 21:04My fishing licence is now up for renewal, my beef is that this is a blatent descrimination against engine powered boat owners as opposed other boaters e.g. yachts and kayaks, etc. So we can have one licence per "engine powered " boat, and we have about 20,000 boats taking part in fishing activities through out WA. Say an approximate revenue for the fisheries of $600,000, probably much more depending on who has brought licences, but we have about 640,000 persons taking part in fishing activities. If every person who fished had to buy a $5 licence, the income would be $3,200,000.
OK the figures are a bit up in the air, but as far as I am concerned everyone who puts a hook and bait in the water is affecting the balance of the sea. Why is it the moles and wharfs are lined with people fishing, but not contributing a single razoo to the fish up-keep, and a few boat owners are pinged, just because we are easy picking, i.e. Rec licence numbers on record, boat rego's etc.
I am not against paying for a licence, I agree something must be done, I'm against this discrimination.
