what can u catch of off the two rocks marina at the tip of the small one and on the sea side of the bigger one any help is greatly appreciated. Me and my dad are going to fish of there tomorow morning from about 6am-8am can anyone tell me what type of fish i could catch at that time so i can make the rigs up??

I know I said we werent' going to go out there after our session last Sunday but the weather was too good and we wanted a few more baldies to take home with us.  Baldies didn't play the game, however, but the dhuies certainly did. First jig drop of the day resulted in a 62cm one, second jig drop got a little SBT. Those fish were on a 160gm tomman in a gold/black pattern...hlokk (Matt) saw it earlier this year and reckoned it was a copy of the Daiwa Sacrifice jig.

The boys were getting smallish snapper on bait while I switched over to an octo jig and got a scorpion fish, followed by about a 10kg dhufish. I was almost disappointed with this because we were struggling to get baldies...ended up with one small specimen at 43cm. My oldest boy managed a 50cm flattie on bait in the same area.

While the ground we were fishing was mainly flat coral plateaus, we did hit a proper lump in the northernmost area of my marks on the way home, hoping to load the jigger up on some sambos (Connor got a few on bait last Sunday there) but when I dropped another tomman, this one a purple/silver knife profile, instant dhufish again! This one went 70cm but had to go back as we already had two. All in all we landed four legal dhufish up to 10kg and probably another 3 or 4 undersized ones.

So concludes our Jurien trip...sorry no pics from this last session, I was frustrated at not being able to raise baldies and couldn't be bothered getting the camera out! If there was one thing I learned this time around is that metal jigs are fantastic and every chance I had to use them they outperformed bait in terms of quality of fish. I just wish I could find fish like this and get them on jigs off Mandurah!

The weather looks weird tho!, with it stating 10ish knot winds early morning, swinging westerlie in the arvo...but the thing that got me is the temperature, its going to be 31 degress..... Im thinking its more inclined to be easterlies in the morning, and will go south west in the arvo?

2 questions, any deckies who may be interested taking into consideration it may not be all that flash out there, 2nd whats others opinions on the weather front?

We have just made a rudimentary glow box to test various glowing things.

Some products that are meant to glow, don't or hardly do, others are blinding.

What are people's thoughts on how much say, a soft plastic should glow? do you want a plastic that is going to light up like a christmas tree (like a B2 lumo squid) or does the very subtle glow of a nuclear chicken gulp do it for you?

Do you think fish are attracted or put off by something at night that looks radioactive?

well folks with the Sound closed to Snapper fishing from the 1 Oct already and the Dermal Closure a week away, it seems we need to get our options ready for the pelagic season.

My brother in-law and sister have been camping at Ningaloo Station for the last 1 1/2 months. About 2 weeks ago their inflatbale tender (equipped with a dinky little outboard) went missing. They hadn't pulled the boat up onto shore far enough and sometime in the night it was swept away. They had a good search for it however had no luck. 

I know this is a long shot but did anyone who was up that way find the dinghy? Happy to give you $100 bux for its return. They loved that little boat, it was part of the family.

Took my girlfreind fishin tonight to the local jetty down freshwater bay hoping for a nice bream.
This is the part where is gets really wierd. As we were walking to the jetty i said for some unknown reason " you should catch a seahorse tonight".
I dont know what gave me the idea. I have fished the swan river for 20+yrs and only caught one while fishing at point walter. It wrapped itself around my hook and i released it unharmed.

Around 8oclock Lisa got snagged then it came free. I was rigging up my rod and as she got the bait out the water i heard her say " oh my god , you said i would catch a sea horse and i have one"!!
What are the bloody chances of that!. I must be psycic!!!!!!!
Lucky this little guy wasnt hooked. He was hangin onto a lump of what looked like sea erchin or river erchin. Took a couple pics and let him go. What a spinout!

and was wondering what the fishing is like at that time and what sort of fish can

I went to an information night at EFYC on Tuesday - the Port Authority guy said dredging is ahead of schedule, and will be finished in 2-3 weeks. So, allowing a week for the crap to clear - we will be able to dive for some prawns before the cray season starts!!!

I have always wanted to fish shark bay, especially turtle bay....I'm gonna try to find a good patch of weather and go for for about 4-5 days....another boat would be good if anyone is interested and I always need crew...

Just a question on what reel you guys use when you jig/plastic for dhuies. I currently use a pfleuger supreme xt 9040 which is very very light but a drag of about 5kg. I feel it may be a little on the small  side especially if i hooked up to a descent sambo so i may look for something new. Wouldnt have a huge budget but just wondering what you all use and if you think what im using is fine.

hi, im having trouble catching my first dhufish i might just be unlucky or havent found the right place yet. ive been out a few times in albany and peaceful bay but havent landed any, maybe im not going out deep enough or something im only just learning the boating thing. im looking at going to bremerbay/doubtful island next fishing trip but could change my mind if i get some help or tips on where and when to go thanks

would  like to know your fishing  stories what baits lures you used .

would like to hear  from landbased rock 4wd beach  fishing and also from those who used a dinghy
