LEST WE FORGET rememberance day
Submitted by meglodon on Sat, 2017-11-11 03:15I fought in the frozen mud of the Somme... in a blazing destroyer exploding on the North Sea... I fought on the perimeter at Tobruk... crashed in the flaming wreckage of a fighter in New Guinea... lived with the damned in the place cursed with the name Changi.
I was your mate... the kid across the street... the med. student at graduation... the mechanic in the corner garage... the baker who brought you bread... the gardener who cut your lawn... the clerk who sent your phone bill.
I was an Army private... a Naval commander... an Air Force bombardier. no man knows me... no name marks my tomb, for I am every Australian serviceman... I am the Unknown Soldier.
I died for a cause I held just in the service of my land... that you and yours may say in freedom... I am proud to be an Australian.
The above words are not mine and I can't find the author of them, but, they say it all.

Herring Lure
Submitted by Alex15733 on Fri, 2017-11-10 20:44Hi All, Went down to woodmans point today trying to get herring, Got one on and got to shore but spat the hook over a rock and fell back in... There was still bubbling on the suface but couldnt get any, After putting a smaller hook on i soon found out they were trumpeter.....
Anyway on that note there was a guy down there with a burley blob with a silvery lure on the end that looked homemade, I was wondering if any of you have made a homemade lure for herring, ive seen the green straw lures but, Do they work well? And how are they meant to be used?
thanks Alex!

Air Con Install - Not fishing related
Submitted by Matt T on Fri, 2017-11-10 12:30Hi - Can anyone give me a price on the install of a 3.5kw Fujitsu Split System? I just bought one and want to get it put up in my daughters bedroom - direct access to outside and the ground unit can go on the corner of the house (back corner room). Seems the cost varies but wanted to find out some ball park idea - or anyone want a cashie?

lots of dhuies updated with screenshots
Submitted by crano on Wed, 2017-11-08 16:20Had a look at a little lump that we have fished 5 times without fail. Not a big lump but good to look at. Pity it is not a mile or two north as it would no doubt hold jumbos.
These screenshots are not of the lump in the pics but is another one I found the same day which I have not looked at yet but I believe it will similar. No obvious big fish in the pic but I am sure it will produce in the future
Got me stuffed why they are upside down. Hope no one breaks their neck looking at the pics.

Cockburn sound night fish
Submitted by Jimbob01 on Wed, 2017-11-08 12:13Hey guys new to boating n boat fishing but have some basic knowledge and am thinking of going for a night fish in the sound somewhere. I have found some decent looking ground on the charts around sulphur rock and am wandering if it would be worth a shot to anchor up n juck out some baits for a mully or gummy????
Has anyone fished there or around there recently or before even and have you encountered anything worth going there for also what kind of rigs n baits would you recommend?
Thanks,
Jimbob

Wily Bream
Submitted by crasny1 on Wed, 2017-11-08 07:51Have been fortunate to finally after yrs of planning and dreaming to move onto Mandurah canals. Not a mansion but hey its on water.
The previous owners must not have been fishers and I suspect fed the bream, because they come up very close to the edge with little fear. AND there is some trophy size there I can see (but then its a fisherman talking and you know the tall tales!!!!).
Been catching the odd legal crab and dropping the shells back in and they go crazy.
But wow as soon as you float anything with a hook and line down among the "berley" you can clearly see the cunning nature. It's unweighted, direct fluoro (light as 2lb)direct to braid, but hey smash anything else, but stop, look and dodge anything with a hook in it.
Have among the Blackies hooked Tarwhine, but not a single black, not even the junior models among the large ones.
Just make you realize how clever these cunning trophy fish are, and how good it must feel to hook a 40cm plus model.
Will keep you updated if, and a big if, I manage to land (and return these "old men of the sea").

Woodman Point Fishing Location
Submitted by Fishn n Ridin on Sun, 2017-11-05 17:33As I'm fairly new to fishing and exclusively land based, I find myself only knowing a couple of places I can go fishing. I go to Coogee Jetty, Ammo Jetty and sometimes under the Old Traffic in Fremantle, and the North and South Moles. I was wondering whether, on the attached image of Woodman Point, it was legal to fish on both the blue circled area and red?
Thanks

Mandurah offshore Fishing and Sailing club members?
Submitted by ElDub on Sun, 2017-11-05 16:42Any MOFSC members on here? I'm a Mandurah local and thinking of joining, mainly to use their ramps and I think you can leave your boat there aswell, not much room at my house. And also keen on their fishing comps. Pretty expensive at around a grand a year, worth it? Are the members all ages? I'm only 26 so dont really want to join and be the odd one out...
Cheers.

It's farewell to boating
Submitted by Poppy on Sun, 2017-11-05 11:45But not to fishing. I've turned 76 and I promised my wife that I'd sell my boat when I turned 80. However the best made plans etc. I have to have a full hip replacement in a couple of months and the specialist advised me not to try fishing in a small boat because, in his words, "throwing the leg might dislocate the hip". Anyway I've listed my beloved Pongrass in the "For Sale" section. I will still be going on the occasional charter and of course, will keep an eye on the happenings on Fishwrecked. I've picked up a lot from the writings in the Forum, So it' it's goodnight from Him.
Cheers

Trailer Refirb Mandurah?
Submitted by ElDub on Sat, 2017-11-04 15:52My boat trailer is in need of a birthday. Rust is starting to take its toll and I don't want to take it long distances in the condition it's currently in.
I need new guards (tandem), new leaf springs and U bolts and new axles and the bearings done.
Anywhere no anyone in Mandurah that would do this or should I just get another trailer?
Cheers.
