Woodies or Mangles for Squid and Hezza

Bout to take the young fella out on the dinghy to chase some squid and hezza. Don't know either area so can someone let me know where am I most likely to get him into some?

Raymarine Lost Waypoints

I decided that it was time to update the software on my C127 Combo unit. As a part of this I thought it best to finally back up all of my waypoints, about 300 of them in all. I followed the instructions to the letter and then proceeded to reinstall/import the waypoint files. After i had completed the reisntall/import I went htorugh to look at the new software. It was then that I noticed that the only waypoints that had transferred were ones that were Alpha Numeric that I had actually named rather then the ones when you just press mark way point. I have tried to research just how to find the waypoints on the SD Card and in the system but it has been to no avail. I have in the past lost ten years worth of spots and have spent hours, days weeks, months and years rebuilding, I would be distraught to say the least if I was to suffer this ill feit again. Could someone please help me.

Prime dates available to fish with No Boundaries Oman, April 2016

I have a booking to fish with No Boundaries Oman for 6 days in April 2016 over the new moon.

This has historically been their best month of the year, and I had to book 18 months in advance to get this booking.

Unfortunately work is going to prevent me from making it this time, so my booking is up for grabs.

Devastated not to be able to go, but it is what it is.

I have the whole boat booked. You can fish up to 4 people, but 3 is ideal. If you are keen in taking over the booking, please get in contact.

Cheers,

Dan

decided to head to CORAL BAY

Thanks for the last advice guys. Ive decided to go to coral bay with wife and kids. Any tips on spots gear to target. Would be good to land my wife and kids some decent fish (gts macks etc). I will have a boat. Thanks guys

Metro tailor session

Had an awesome 2 hour session on winter greenbacks and a couple of wayward salmon this morning. Had some big hook ups, lost a couple of salmon and landed some big metro tailor. Even had a baitfish bust up 60 metres out in front of us. My son beat me to the cast and landed a waxwing right on the spot and hooked up instantly. Surprisingly this was the smallest fish for the morning at 47 cm. Waxwings (88 mm ) in various colours did most of the damage, I did manage a 55 cm model on the old faithful Richter plug. Fishing north of Mindarie around heavy reef, resulting in a few bust offs and pulled hooks. Kept a few for a BBQ tonight, the rest are still swimming. Cheers.

Overnight trip

hi everyone. I'm thinking of going on an overnight thing soon and am wondering where to go. I am staying land based and am hoping for some tailor and herring for a feed (I know it's not the time for tailor but that there will be big ones around) and maybe some KG's but if there is a river system it would be fun to get onto some nice sized bream for catch and release. The time to our destination will be between 2:30 - 4 hours from Perth. I was thinking probably up north but aren't 100% sure. Any suggestions would be great!

Boat vs land based etiquette

Went for a fish today land based at one of my local tailor spots in Henderson I put a bit a bit of effort in to find the school and got a hook up then dropped the fish as they are hard to land off the cliffs I kept moving so the spooked school could settle then two knobs in a dingie decide they want some action pull up in a metre of water where the school was drop their anchor then smack their lures on the surface of the water for whatever reason and then fish paternoster rigs off the side 'in a meter of water ' wtf needless to say no one caught a fish from then on. I felt like sconning them with a rock

Berley

Just mixed up some berley using scalies, a grunter, fish oil, chook pellets and water and gave it a good mix with the drill and it looks great and i can't wait to try it out tomorrow from the dinghy to bring in some hezza for the wee man while I catch squid.

I've put it in my removable berley tube but the question is, should I put the tube in the freezer so it breaks down slower tomorrow?

 Hi everyone

peppermint grove beach.

 Hi Al

I'm heading down south for the weekend. Anyone fished peppermint grove beach? Thought I might chuck a line in. Any thoughts?

Bait size

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out where to get (SOR) mulie what are suitable for 4/0 and 5/0 gangs. Most of the stuff I have been buying has been too wide for the hooks. When I push the hook through the body it doesnt go far enough through to turn without tearing up the flesh.

Target is tailor/salmon from shore so I don't think I should be going to larger hooks...

Geraldton fishing

Going up to Gero this weekend to targe some tailor and other species Land based, does anyone know any good spots or tips for around geraldton, got a 4wd so can go off beach.

Hot session on the local reddies

Early morning redfin session proved to be a beauty. Biggest fish tsken with plastic and livies used aswell. Great fun in shallow water watching the fish strike and fight.

as for the daily wager, i can say i won the comp convincingly. Good fun bet between mates. Put that finger down trent , you lost hahaha

What gear for Broome(help)

 Hi Guys

Going to Broome in October for a few days, going out fishing on a guys boat who lives up there. We are also going up the creeks, I am limited for room for rods so was wondering if you can help me with what I should take.

We will be mostly trolling for bill fish(which he has all the gear) but also bottom bouncing as well as a bit of fishing in the creeks.

I was thinking of taking a 7 foot Tcurve with a stella 5000 for the creeks and was hoping this would do for bottom bouncing as well.

Any thoughts? All help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Adam.

Suprise land based tuna!

Hi guys went down south a few weeks ago to try get into some salmon off the stones instead of taking the boat out. Bloody epic day with 16 xxl salmon on big live baits and 2 sbt(I think lol) spinning metals while waiting for our livies to go. First fish was 11.4 kgs (pictured) and his mate prob 15 mins later that was easy twice the size of the first fish that ended up pulling my unofficial boga scales to 28.2 kgs! Such an epic day with the weather as good as the fishing! Sorry for the unatractive pic, almost killed my mate when he told me he forgot the camera as the second fish was released to catch another day!

Have all the gear, solid 4wd, and this time im taking a 4.2m 3 man canoe with a minnkota. just wondering what kind of areas are more friendly to using this canoe, looking for some coral type ground close to shore or just structure. Looking on maps francois peron looks okay but no coral?

cockburn sound

well after all of your help, we went out at about 3 yesterday. unfortunatley, the sounder didnt start so we thought we would have to do it the old school way. then our day went bad to worse, at about 4 the engine stopped but luckily it started up again. about five minutes after that. the motor completley stopped and we lost all power. we tried to fix it but it wouldnt start. we had full petrol full oil and the batery was fully charged. does anyone know what would cause this?

anyway we started up the little 15 hp yamaha and headed home, we stopped near point peron for a quick drift, we got a few nice squid, biggest had a 31cm hood, we got about a dozen sand whiting, and a little 47cm snapper which was released, i was fishing with a small paternoster rig with little pieces of mulies, which surprised me that i got a snapper on it. so after all it wasnt such a bad day apart from the motor stopping.

Also on friday were going to Albany for a week, does anyone have any land based reports from there. and are there any salmon still around there?

cheers vinnie

Fishing around Garvey Park

I went for a walk with the missus around Garvey Park and noticed quite a few jetties/sandbanks and structure, water didn't look too pleasant though.

Just wondering if its worth throwing a line for catch and release and what people might be catching around that area?

Thanks,
