Early cray season = great white attacks
Submitted by Sunburntfeet on Sat, 2013-10-19 21:06This is from the Busso Dunsbrough times, can't find a link so I've had to type the whole thing. You better laugh as hard as I did.
the department of fisheries has dismissed concerns an extension of the recreational rock lobster season will put swimmers at increased risk of shark attacks. The department this week announced a decision to extend the season into October, coinciding with the height of the metropolitan phase of white pointer sharks' southern migration.
Perth man Greg Baker, whose sons surf and paddle board at Geographe Bay, is concerned the bait of thousands of recreational lobster pots would attract these migrating sharks to inshore waters. "There will be trouble, if not this October then next". "The fisheries department are keen to increase the takings for rereational fishers.... last year they increased the limit from six to eight lobsters per person."but allowing fisherman to pot during the height of white pointer migration? "Surfers, paddlers and swimmers deserve better than this. Can't be bothered writing the rest. it goes on about the slick from th bait attracting sharks, but they can't get to the bait so their hungry and are going to eat people instead. This was a quater page report with no backing from anyone in any industry that has any knowledge of any particular species of shark......except Greg.

Biomaster 6000 PG
Submitted by shalesy on Sat, 2013-10-19 13:44HI,
I've recently purchased a Shimano Biomaster SW6000 reel which is all good but the Knob on the handle is a small T knob. I'm wanting to put something bigger on there, I've tried a couple of Jigging Knobs which fit some of the other Shimano reels but they don't seem to fit the Biomaster. Does anybody know of a brand that might fit?

Pro Crayfishing @!)&heads
Submitted by Riles on Fri, 2013-10-18 14:46I didn't know the pro crayfishermen thought they were gods gift to earth over here, driving their boat right through my lure spread cutting me off, no more than 15m behind my boat yesterday morning between Garden and Carnac islands. We had been holding the same course all the way from Pt Peron and this dickead couldn't alter course by 1 degree driving out between the islands. And before any one asks no we weren't in the channel.
I hadn't been that angry in ages. (I'm not saying all crayfishermen are dickeads but these blokes definitely need a good smack in the head)

Was good also to see the fisheries officers doing their thing at Leeuwin ramp and checking everybody I dont think they liked my comment when I said we had caught 5 massive dhuies and 8 snapper lol

Submitted by jdavies_99 on Thu, 2013-10-17 12:42Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone from the clubs has any news on the FADS deployment for this year.
Normally hear about busy bees and such the like but haven't heard much this year.
Also any news on the rumour that there were going to be 14 FADS this year due to a grant from the government?

ligh tackle lure karratha, dampier & burrup area
Submitted by scotty-perth on Thu, 2013-10-17 09:02hi fishos, just a quick question I have a rest day coming up on my next swing & was wondering if there are any good shore based spots around Karratha, dampier or burrup to throw a few lures?? I always look into whittnel bay from site & wonder if it is worth a walk along the shore in there? also the private boat ramp in dampier has a nice rock wall near it & small beach if that is worth a shot?? I know most locals go offshore but if anyone has some advice would be much appreciated! happy fishing all

lures for big queenies in shallow water
Submitted by jighead on Wed, 2013-10-16 18:55Was wondering what you guys have had most success with on the big queenies in shallow water. Been chasing them land based and have seen them so I know there there but so far no success. Been using whiptail jigs with the second feather removed and tango dancer surface lure so far but only school mackeral on the board. What else should I try excluding live baits because we are fishing along way offshore and carrying them out there with us is not an option.

shoreline marine/getting outboard electrical parts tested
Submitted by Versus on Wed, 2013-10-16 14:06anyone know of Shoreline Marine in o'connor/willagee? Can't find them on google/yellow pages.
The long story is, I want to borrow the old man's dinghy, but the 20-30 yr old Johnson outboard has died. He reckons it might be this particular part (think it's called a powerpack? smallish rectangular black plastic thing with plugs coming out each end and an earthing wire...I don't know shit about this stuff). He's given me the part to get it checked out as he works away and doesn't have time. Gave me the name of Shoreline marine via someone else who said they can check it out etc. Can't find a number.
Spoke to a guy at Chivers who said they can't really test just an individual part, would need to check out the whole engine, but wouldn't be able to do it anyway for such an old one.
Any ideas? (Getting a new outboard isn't really an option atm)
