Submitted by jack93 on Sat, 2013-06-15 18:14Hey all! Had exams and haven't been able to fish for what seems a lifetime ( a month) so as you can imagine I was itching for a fish so 2 mates an i went out on the tinnie again with no sounder or GPS ( 5 this morning was so hard finding the spot) fished from 615-930 and bagged out ! Photo doesn't do it justice but the one in my hands went 80cm the biggest 82 and the smallest 54 (Cockburn sound is where they was caught ) going out again tomorrow morning will keep you updated ! Fish from the Moles and rigs.
Submitted by PattoMelon on Fri, 2013-06-14 16:21G'day blokes,
Went out last weekend to the North mole for a fish and it didnt end to well. There was nothing running, A couple of people got really small fish and a couple of blowies.
Myself and my mate got absolutely nothing, Ontop of that. I ended up losing 1 of my new lures. Which im a little shitty about lol. But that is a risk i ran fishing off the rocks.
Curious which mole would be better to fish off, This time of year. North mole ? Or the other part in the southern part of Freo ?
Im looking to switch to bait if im fishing off the rocks, that why im only losing hooks. Not lures, What set up would you suggest? (Gang, Single, Double etc.) Would mullies do the job to catch all the species out there, Or would a bit of variety help ?
Cheers,
Patto.
This kid is awesome.

Best battery for 90HP 4 stroke Merc?
Submitted by Guardy on Fri, 2013-06-14 08:51I recently went to replace the existing #1 battery with a like for like as it wasn't starting my outboard. The model had changed from 460 to 530 CCA which I though was good. But it still won't start the engine. I checked my #2 battery and it is the same, a 460 CCA. I had never checked them individually before as I always started the engine with both batteries (I know, stupid of me not to check). That was how I was told to start it when I bought the boat. And, before anyone asks, yes the batteries are fully charged.
So my question is what size battery should I have?

Looking for a Travel Rod 4-6 pieces
Submitted by Buz on Thu, 2013-06-13 23:06Gday all. Have been looking for a very compact travel rod to take with me on an overseas holiday to match to my Stradic 3000FJ. Would like it to compact down as small as possible possibly 4-6 pieces. Don't want a Telescopic Rod though.
Did some looking around on FWrecked search and it seems alot of people recommended Nitro 007 traveller 6 piece rods(other than their price).
So does anyone know off the top of their head who might sell these locally? Will ring around all the tackle Stores myself, but just in case someone can save me the ringing around.
Or alternatively does someone know an alternative rod/brand that would be just as good? Would like the packed down rod to be no longer than say about 40-50cm, so think it would have to be 4-6 pieces as I had a look at a Shimano Raider 3 piece and while a good rod it was a bit too long packed up for what I am looking for.
Or alternatively again, if anyone has a 4-6 piece travel rod that would suit a Shimano Stradic 3000FJ that they would be willing to sell I would be very interested.
Thanks, Buz.

Crabbing - Is Ammo Jetty in Cockburn Sound?
Submitted by Z_fish on Thu, 2013-06-13 21:16Hi guys,
I love crabbing and the ammo jetty at woodsman point is one of my favorite places to go get a feed of big blues.
I know that cockburn sound is closed to crabbing from september to mid december, but im not sure if the location of ammo jetty lies with in cockburn sound. I've never crabbed there during this period because i'm unsure about this.
Could someone please clarify whether or not ammo jetty lis within cockburn sound and is subjected to the blue swimmer crab closed season?

Well the time has come to finally take the mrs out on the open ocean for a fish (started straight of with im going early!!!!) so was going to try and go out wide to scare the sht out of her so she has no interest in joining me again but no joy - she wants to stay in close, il have to figure something else out.
Anyway - was thinking about just hitting up hale road reef, anchoring up just outside the reef system and burleying the shit out of the water.
Just wondering if anyone else has had anyluck out there lately?

Prawn Stars
Submitted by southpoint on Thu, 2013-06-13 11:17Hi All,
Have been getting out on the Swan and getting a few prawns and having a great time. We anchor up early in our little tinny and get a position so we are all set when he run starts.
Over the last few years I have noticed that some people have forgotten the rules and seem to think it is ok to drive in front of you at anchor and sit up current and catch what ever was heading in your direction or coming right next to you with lights on full so you can't see a thing.
The other night down in the swan a twat in a centre console called "Slick" came right up along side us with their underwater lights on and massive roof spotties shining right in our eyes. I asked the guys if they could turn their roof lights off or perhaps just move a little further away to which I got some very rude replies asking if I owned the "f%$#ing river" no , I don't own the river but I do have common courtesy and try to be a polite human. They then proceeded to say that they didn't have any light on above the water? I am sure the four massive spot lights on your hardtop would count as light? When we drew their attention to the fact that the lights on their roof were in fact there, an on, they asked if we were jealous of their lights cause we couldn't afford them? Seriously this is what they said.
They then proceeded directly up current form us and tried to be smart asses until we started our outboard on our tiny tinny about to go and introduce them to some manners.
I am not sure if it a lack of respect, a lack of care or just a lack of education but be warned "slick" if you try that on again you will be seeing us at the boat ramp with an unhappy crab and some big spotlights. There is a thing in life called karma and when you see us in our normal boats you might think twice about your attitude and who your talking too
Not a happy prawn star

Jurien weather this weekend
Submitted by tigerfish on Wed, 2013-06-12 21:03Decided to head away somewhere this weekend with the missus and figured it might be a good opportunity to sample the fishing up at Jurien in my recently completed project boat. However, I'm still a bit green when it comes to sea fishing/boating and just looking for some opinions on what the weather and seas will be like up there on Sat/Sunday.
I've checked out seabreeze - Lancelin showing just under 2m swell and E/SE winds around 10knts. Is JB likely to be about the same? ANd what sort of seas would this make for up there? I'm not going to be heading out far (haven't got the fuel capacity yet), so prob just looking at hanging around in the bay area and maybe out the back of some of the close-in reef just north of the islands and target some snapper, whiting squid etc.
SOrry for the 'hand-holding' type question....just that it is a long way to drag the boat (and missus) to have a s**t day out or not get out at all.
