Boat insurance question
Submitted by davewillo on Wed, 2020-10-07 15:38Hi all
Just about to get a new boat and have searched who people are recommending for insurance. I'm gonna get a few quotes including RAC. They asked what anti-theft device the boat has. It's a penned boat so hitch protection doesn't apply. How have others dealt with this question in the past?
TIA

Dickhead in Hillarys Marina..... ME.
Submitted by JohnF on Tue, 2020-10-06 18:30Well, I was 'one of those blokes' this arvo.....total cock up of a pretty simple boat rule.....keep to the right.
Took my youngest bloke and his cousin for a quick fish this arvo, missus dropped us off to the marina and we jumped on the boat which is penned and headed out.
I was just explaining to the two young boys that you need to stay on the opposite side to the side you drive cars in Australia, when two small boats come head long toward us, yelling abuse I was on the wrong side.
With my boat being quite a bit bigger, plus me thinking I was on the correct side, and given this happening many times before with beginner skippers, I suggested this is not a car on the road, but a boat and suggested they move to the other side.
They refused to move over, so being the bigger man I moved over to the 'wrong' side to miss them...... I was not able to retort to the low level abuse they shouted at me given I has two young boys on board......
Anyhow, about 10 seconds later I realised what had happened..... The missus had dropped me off and I was onthe passengers side, in the car, and subconsciously thought I was on the correct side as I was on the opposite side to what I was in the car...
Now, I have had many boats over many years and done thousands of hours on the water..... And still complete rookie mistakes like this are possible.
I Had a bit of a chuckle with the boys, and I would like to apologise to the young blokes in the two boats who were actually in the 'RIGHT'......
Bloody senior moment.... Haha.
anyhow, ended well, a quick 90 minute fish fonr the two young fellas netted two KGs, a flattie, a heap of sand whiting and a chunky Baldie that went hard on whiting gear

Submitted by plugga25 on Sat, 2020-10-03 16:38
Gday legends.
Me and a mate are away on a fishing trip and we can't source our
Preferred TCW3 outboard oil. All We can get is Fuchs Titan.
My question is can we mix oils with no problems??
Example: Shell Nautilus and Fuchs Titan. Are They able to be mixed in an oil tank in an oil injected Mariner.
Cheers guys.

Mack ID
Submitted by scotto on Tue, 2020-09-29 19:02Thoughts on what breed of Macky this is?
I'm 98% sure it's not a Spaniard. Maybe a broadbar?
Shot in 9m at shark bay over the weekend. There was a school of about 30 of them, which I originally thought were shark mackies so I ignored them, but then double took and thought they were Spanish so I nailed one. Measured 105cm, so not big, but no stripes like the normal spanyardas. I'll tell u what it tastes like tomorrow.

New boat trailer.
Submitted by Silver Fox on Mon, 2020-09-28 16:34Hello to you all.
Im needing to put a trailer under my big fat Shark Cat ( 8.5m ). Let's start a discussion on who makes the best trailers and does it need to be ally or steel?. On an even more fun topic a tow vehicle to mooove this puppy around. I'm needing to be thinking outside the box here with a trailer that's going to be capable of moving about 6000kg ( trailer included ) and a truck to tow it with.
Cheers people!.

These handles are lightweight and super comfy in the hand! Being slightly longer in the handle, it gives more leverage and also gives a more pleasant feel when slow pitch jigging...
They come with three different cogs to interchange with Daiwa/Shimano/Accurate but fit many other brands.
Available in Blue, Gunmetal and Gold for $149.95

Don’t see one of these very often
Submitted by sunshine on Tue, 2020-09-22 17:02Berkeley River north of Kununurra......and I didn't catch it my wife did, all I did was loose good fish to the oyster rocks and mangrove roots. But for anyone considering a five star trip (at better than half price if you watch out for specials) then the Berkeley River Lodge is highly recommended but not for your waistline with five course meals every night and huge seafood lunches

Flick rods
Submitted by timbo2410 on Tue, 2020-09-22 16:46Hi all, in the market for a pair of flick rods. One to cast lures from the beach (surf) with lures up to 3 or 4oz and the other that I can use for light lures for the rivers and dams .. I'm a bit tired of lure fishing with my 12 foot surf rod .. it's just too much .. so a shorter/lighter rod is what I'm after .. and i would also like to get my hand into river and dam fishing with soft plastics and small lures .. what are the opinions?
