Woodmans point jetty
Submitted by lachieH on Wed, 2014-11-12 20:56hi everyone, I'm probably heading down to woodies point jetty soon and will put have a mullet fillet out on a 6/0 occo hook for maybe a ray or a gummy at the most, I'm not looking for 3m Sharks if ur wondering. But the main reason I'm posting is how has the jetty been going for herring and whiting and the rest of the bread and butter species? I'm going to look for a feed and will be there most of the day so hopefully I come home with dinner which is what mum dreams of me doing
. She says fish is way too expensive from the shops so if I catch fresh fish that tastes better, she might give me $10 which I think is a bargain lol. But I'm willing to do it for free because that's what family do.
so any reports on whiting and herring would be awesome

Really hoping the wind isn't so bad it's not worth tryin to get a line out....

Any one used these clips
Submitted by Boydy on Tue, 2014-11-11 17:35G'day Crew,
Was wondering if anyone has used these clips at all, good or bad reports?
Thinking of giving them a run for smallish stick baits(30g-50g), don't think I would trust them to the approx breaking strain on the pack though.
Would be fishing around 30lb main line.
Cheers
Chris

where to buy strong removable chairs for my side console?
Submitted by Markie on Tue, 2014-11-11 16:15I have a side console and want to replace my 2 chairs. They just slot in the holes that are on that boat and can pull out. Problem is theyre plastic underneath and the bolts rip out of them so i am looking for strongly built seats/tube. Would also like the chairs to have handles on the top in case someone wants to stand behind them and can hold on as sitting can hurt at times. amy reccomendations on where to go have a look or even online stores?

Towing out of dead Whale
Submitted by aaasnapper on Mon, 2014-11-10 19:54Cant believe it took that many years for the government to realise the towing of whale carcasses to sea (at least in the metro area's) was the best choice. Obviously, the operation would be weather dependant.
https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/25474822/whale-removal-cost-170-000/
The issue was discussed on FW previously, and more to the point for us fisho's someone advised towing out a whale to decompose at sea would benefit the marine food chain for years.

Polarised view vs not
Submitted by crasny1 on Mon, 2014-11-10 12:41Dont know if anyone would find this interesting. Was at Monkey Mia and it always is a great view from the beach side cabins. Took 2 photos, one with the camera and one through my Polarised lense and the difference was amazing.
First Normal, then through lenses.

Whiting Weekend
Submitted by Mick C on Sun, 2014-11-09 23:10For some reason (moon, tides, sun, swell, sea, etc, etc) most fish seemed “shut down” this weekend. Fished the MAAC comp and it was hard work getting fish for the weigh in – was the same for everyone though.
The only species that seemed to be on the bite were the whiting. We were lucky enough to get a couple of cracker King George early, 500m off the coast, with the biggest going 560mm and 1.05kg. An afternoon “try” for the sand whiting increased our bag but everything was hard work – lots of fish on the sounder but no bite – even the sambos didn’t take the live bait on proven ground.
YPM managed 4 species which gave him the 6th juniors win in a row and the “expert repairer” won visitors, KG, and fish of the day so it wasn’t all bad. A lot of hours for little return though.
We did find the depth of the sand whiting so I took out the better half and the young daughter for a quick trip to hunt them today. The purpose was to stock up pinkie bait for after the ban and get a few fillets for Nana. At least this worked and the whiting catch with 2 rods, and licences, was about 30 per hour. With lots of quality bait carefully stored away, bring on December 16.

Underwater Go Pro Footage - Housings for Trolling and Anchor Images
Submitted by Mick C on Sun, 2014-11-09 21:33Following my posts last week containing underwater Go Pro images of fish trolling and at anchor (http://fishwrecked.com/forum/targets-aquired-and-captured: http://fishwrecked.com/forum/targets-aquired-and-captured-again), there was a lot of interest from members about the housings used to obtain the footage.
With permission from the manufacturer, I took some photos of the gear as shown below. I know it took a lot of time to perfect the design and based on the footage we obtained they work really well. The downrigger is also an important element as you certainly don’t want to “donate” the Go Pros to the ocean.
I am still intending to post some video but haven’t had a chance to edit it all yet. These devices allow you to learn so much more about the ground you are fishing, and fish behavior.
