Anyone have an old fishing rod?
Submitted by artygunner on Thu, 2013-02-07 13:08I just snapped my good fishing rod :( I am heading out deep sea fishing and am in need of a boat road about 7"0 that can handle 15kg's on the end of it. I will be putting a Flueger Salt reel on it.
Please private message me if you have anything, top dollar cannot be paid as I am broke but I can fork out a little.
Cheers
Ryan

Murray River SA Help
Submitted by Wet Dreams on Thu, 2013-02-07 08:06Hi All,
Just after some help and info in regards to fishing the Murray between Mannum and Swan Reach (possibly further up river a little) on what gear to take/use there? What sort of fish I'm likely to encounter? And also lures/sp to use?
First time to SA hence all the questions, and will be on the river for a week solid of wakeboading/skiing but very keen to have a fish while I'm there. Currently have a pfluger trion 7ft 2-4kg rod matched to a 2500 Ci4 stradic (4lb bite motion braid) if that will suffice?
Any help or info will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers Sam.

"Simpler rules for better fishing"
Submitted by Brad Y on Thu, 2013-02-07 07:50Got ahold of the new fishing rules pamphlet and have a query that someone hopefully can answer.
Reading from the book:
Dhufish 1 per licensed angler max 2 per boat in West Coast Bioregion. No probs there.
Pink Snapper 2 per licensed angler in West Coast Bioregion. No probs there.
Breaksea Cod 2 per licensed angler in West Coast Bioregion. No probs there.
Now if I take 3 licensed anglers out and we have a killer day, I take it we can take 2 dhufish and say 4 pink snapper or 4 breaksea. All in all nobody exceeds the 2 mixed species daily bag limit.
However what if you can take 5 people out fishing. Does that mean 2 dhuies and 8 pinkies or 8 breaksea? Again nobody exceeds their daily mixed species limit. I cant see any other boat limit on the amount of demersal fish you can take. Is this correct?

Advice - Montes Charters
Submitted by buschy on Wed, 2013-02-06 20:15Hi all,
Considering booking a private charter for the 2014 or 2015 season out at the Montes (unless the Greens beat me to it). Keen to chase some pelagics and hopefully a billfish or two!
Does anyone have any recommendations on charters / operators out of the area? Looking at anything from 3-6 days at this stage, depending on price to get the boat.
Thanks,
Buschy

New reel for surf rod
Submitted by Justin M on Wed, 2013-02-06 20:04Hi guys, I've got an old 12ft Shakespear contender rod sitting forlornly in the shed pining for a new reel. Looking at running upwards of 30lb mono with decent capacity for the bigger stuff off the beach and am after suggestions on what sort of reel to chuck on it. After getting my new combo I don't have a lot of money left to spend and am not looking at anything flashy, just something that will get the job done...$120 would probably be my upper limit. Cheers

New bag limits
Submitted by Cortez474 on Wed, 2013-02-06 17:03Just been reading up on the new bag limits and it doesn't mention anything about extended trips.....estaminet overnight on islands for example......the way I read is you can have 2 days limits for an overnight stay......given that it explains a bag limit as the amount of fish you can take in a 24 hour period.....
anyone else read it this way or differently??

Heading out from Mandurah
Submitted by Lavs on Tue, 2013-02-05 23:14Hi all,
Reaching out for a bit of help here. In a couple of weeks I'm taking the boat down to Mandurah for a family holiday with the folks. I've never fished out form there before, but thought I would take the old man out for a bit of a session if the weather is ok.
Trouble is, I dont know the ground out there at all, and so looking for some help as to where to head. Not asking for your best spots, but if anyone could point me to the general vacinity of some decent ground where i can sound around, I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to PM me if you dont want to publicise any info :)
We're staying in the Mandurah canals so will be heading out from there.
Thanks in advance,
Lavs

Boat trimmer?
Submitted by oz74 on Tue, 2013-02-05 21:04Hi all,
can anyone recommend a decent boat trimmer? I am looking to have some canvas covers, with fly screen infills, made up to enclose the back of my boat for overnight stays etc.
preferrably north of the river or someone that could come out and have a look and provide a quote would be great as well.
cheers

Dhui
Submitted by nicmaddogg on Tue, 2013-02-05 16:56Went out on mates boat on Saturday after having dreams the night before off catching a 75cm dhui. Biggest dhui I have caught was 54cm so I would be stoked to have my dream come true. After about 2 drops my rod loaded up. Within a couple off minutes I had a 82cm dhui on the deck. I was over the moon. Got a nice big black ass which come in at 46cm n was over the moon. Too top it off, up come a tiger shark after a weird, easy fight. When he seen the boat, he took off quick. Good days fishing.

Stolen GPS..now need to buy replacement?
Submitted by black gen on Tue, 2013-02-05 14:02My parents house in perth was broken into and our electronics bag for the boat was taken.
to them it will be a useless navman screen but to me its 7 or so years of hard work....
luckily i have some of my prized marks stored away but there are literally thousands on there...
obviously now im going to have to buy a new plotter.
i already have a 585 sounder so dont need one that sounds just a gps only...
im thinking raymarine e7, e9 or a HDS8....
is there any good recommendations on either of these 3 units...
thanks.

2stroke Tohatsu help
Submitted by Shane O on Tue, 2013-02-05 13:02Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone lives near meadow springs and spare half an hour, I went out this morning and had no issur. Stopped the motor and went to restart and there is nothing, the motor will tilt up and down. The radio works,
I can here the choke going in and out, just not Mechanically minded and don't have enough cash to leave it at a boat service centre to find out the issue?
It is notin gear when I try to start, and there is plenty of fuel?.

Snapper in the Sound? Is it worth a go?
Submitted by Swompa on Tue, 2013-02-05 12:55Howdy all,
Well I have booked a couple of day off to spend with Mrs Swompa, and had a look at Seabreeze and saw that Monday night looks OK for a fish in the sound.
Question is, would it be worthwhile making a trip into the sound for an evening fish?
I note that it is the first day of the new moon, and we will have an incoming tide, I am just unsure what that equates to fishing wise.
I also know that if im not out there I wont catch anything, but as I am the kiss of death with it comes to fishing in general, is it worth a go?
