Anyone have experience using an EPIRB

Has anyone recently had the misfortune of requiring a rescue initiated by your epirb?

I also need to buy a new one.

http://www.e-marineworld.com.au/store/cart.php?

This one which hekser linked in another topic looks like a better unit than the GME due to battery life / warranty and it apparently updates your location more frequently.

Has anyone used this model before?

I have never had much faith in GME radios / CD players..... they dont last very long

Also, does anyone ever do the "self test" of their epirb?  I have always looked at doing it, but too scared I might set of a search party.

Images

Seems like everyone is having problems with attaching and viewing images, which seemed to start around a week or so ago.

Can someone from the site post a general notice as to what is going on, whether there is a work around and a possible resolution time?

Barred Creek, Broome

Me  and a  mate  fished  Barred  Creek  out  of Broome  today.  On  the  low  tide  there   was  very  little  water  left  in  the  creek,  with  the  sections  still  holding  water  appearing  very  shallow, a  couple  if  feet  at  best.  Can  anyone  offer  some  advice  as  to  whether  these  shallow  water  bodies  still  hold  barra  or  if  we  should  be  fishing  elsewhere  or  on a  different  tide? Apparently Willie  Creek  holds  more  water  on  the  low,  it's  this a  better  option? Any  advice  appreciated

Fun police out in force , literally.

Loaded the cruiser up and decided last min to head up to wedge for a night.

Absolutely stunned at the amount of Police patrolling around the wedge turn off.

Counted around 8 cars (1 unmarked) and 2 bikes and a bus.  Saw them pulling 3 different people over.

Must be a hell of a revenue raiser there.

They'd set up a roadblock into wedge (new road) with a big sign saying camping overnight illegal and fines given.

We initially joined the queue but chucked a U'ey as we were fully  loaded to stay overnight and had the mutt.

Well , that was our Easter trip done there and then.

Back home now.

It shits me to tears that they put those police resources into stopping people/family's  having a bit of fun beach camping.

It should be a right that is being taken away.

What is happening here?????

Getting like the UK .   It's a real shame

anybody get out?

Hey all anyone get out today ? Any good? Cheers craig

Fishing today

Wondering how everyone went today? I ended up with a shark, that be all... Went as far as the fads  did a quick troll but the seas were big, so came back in... None of the spots we hit had much at all, couple of pissy bites...

Least we have some fish for dinner, better than nothing!

Installed the a series Raymarine chart plotter and fired it up. The unit seems to be working fine.

BUT the chart is not detailing any information, such as channel markers reefs etc

Has anyone had this problem, any suggestions would be great.

Have only used C-Map before.

The Navionics card is a Gold.

Is there a difference between the US model Stellas and the Aust version?

Looking at possibly a 5000SW to match with my JM Evolution Titanium 150.

Also anyone know what the improvements on the new Stella is over the current model?

Thanks.

Killing billfish

Reported this to fisheries, they did some investigating and found there were a number of people on board with current WA recreational fishing licenses.

Would be interesting to see how many fish they have in their freezer!

explosive squid

Gives food for thought not only do you have to watch out for a squirt of ink but now for explosives something different

Highlights dangerous areas for sailors etc.
