GoPro WiFi Underwater use
Submitted by paulsmez on Wed, 2012-10-17 13:45I think I saw a post where someone said they were going to try towing a GoPro + WiFi unit behind a boat to watch live footage of fish striking lures on an iPad with the GoPro app.
I thought this sounded like a great idea but wasn't sure if it would work so I emailed GoPro. They just replied to say it won't transmit underwater.
Just letting anyone that ight have been intending to purchase it with the same intention.
Cheers,
Smez.

Fishing shirts for kids ?
Submitted by Dan on Wed, 2012-10-17 09:38Hi All,
I'm taking my young bloke up north in a few weeks for a camping/fishing trip.
Whilst not the greatest fashion statement - the columbia style long sleeve, vented, collared shirts I believe are a must have when fishing long hours in the sun. I wear them religiously
Been looking for some small ones for my son - with very little success !! - have checked most of the chain stores; but no luck
anyone seen them anywhere, or suggest somewhere to look ? need sizes 5-6
cheers
Dan

fishing
Submitted by nicmaddogg on Tue, 2012-10-16 19:23Hi,
me and a mate hit up the ocean today n went out for some fishing. As the ban for demersal fish is on, our main targets were King George. We tried a few spots only to be hasseled with wrasse so we thought we would try find some new ground.
We found some good structure about 20kms off mindarie and started fishing. In quick succession we hooked up to 3 big Baldchin Groper. Spewin the ban was on coz we hadnt tasted a BG before.
Few undersize pinkies n BA.
Got searched by fisheries when we got in so dont be silly and try and hide a catch coz they will get you.
Good day in the end
Keep those lines wet
Cheers

82% say no
Submitted by Fish guts on Tue, 2012-10-16 18:4682% of the public say no to culling great whites. I know it has been talked about previously in FW. But seriously I wonder how the FW society would vote. Personally I have never seen one in the flesh and therefore never had a reason to want to destroy one. But I support the program to cull them. I don't think they are an indanged species anymore. And with the recent loss of human life and their more noted agressive behaviour it would be interesting to know your thoughts.

Boat and Land base Fishing in Esperance
Submitted by Newy25 on Tue, 2012-10-16 17:13Guys,
Recently joined fishwrecked, and have picked up some useful info already. I am heading down to Esperance in the first week of December for 8 days with a 24ft boat. Asking for info / suggestions on where to go (not asking for GPS points!) just general areas, as local knowledge or people that have fished there before is always good to know. What fish should we chase at that time of year? If it is too windy - where to go for land based / 4wd fishing?
Any info would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers,
Newy

Good rod in the 6-10kg mark
Submitted by viking22 on Tue, 2012-10-16 08:19Hey guys, in your opinion what would be a good rod and reel 5-10kg for soft plastics, metals and smaller poppers i will be chasing trout to small Gt`s using jig heads in the 1-2oz range Also using bait occasionally. I have a really nice 3-5kg loomis and its tippy as hell but has a really strong back section. I was thinking of something like that, any ideas and a reel to match.

What's the chance off catching a Sambo at the moment?
Submitted by Spitfire56 on Mon, 2012-10-15 20:22Hello all,
I have my farther and brother visiting from Melbourne this weekend, so hoping to find some jigging action. With the dermersals off limits, what are the chances of getting into the sambos. I know this seems like a dumb question however I haven't fished Perth for long. I hear the 'season' starts soon, is it worth trying the barges? I usually fish Mindarie so would prefer to stay north, however happy to give anything a crack.
Any thoughts would be great
Thanks
Matt

Best Rock fishing PFD for Quobba
Submitted by tailor marc on Mon, 2012-10-15 19:43Im heading to Quobba in november and plan to have a pfd on at all times.
I have fished steep point for many many years no probs but now im not as agile and cant swim as good as i used to makes me want a good comfy pfd.
I have a "pull cord" one but want one that auto activates in impact with water incase i get knocked out on the way down seeing as though there are more ledges than steep point.
I tryed the search function but felt a more up top date PFD thread is always good with newer and safer stuff always coming out.
Anyone know a very reliable and good brand thats pretty comfortable to wear?

Another Jigging Newby!
Submitted by KeenAsFisho on Mon, 2012-10-15 08:15G'day People!
Haven't been a fishwrecked member for long but have been reading up on all the reports and really enjoying it all!
I have fished me whole life with baits, never plastics (unless trawling of course). I have done fine over the years with this but you sort of get the feeling after a while you are living under a rock only using one 'style' of fishing. So with the demersal ban coming in this week I think now is probably the best time to do some research on the ever popular jigging so that when the ban comes of I can be ready to have a crack at it!
Being a complete noob at this I just have a few questions I would like help with.
I would like to set up a 'jig pack' that I can use down here in perth and also on trips away (up north etc). Yes I have my own boat and no I don't particulary wana spend all my dollars on this adventure (some of it though).
With all that said What sort of rod/reel combo with line type poundage etc shall I need. Is it better to have smaller overhead combos or larger egg beaters?
That being said I also obviously have no idea what to use in terms of jigs. So I'm not going to ask a thousand Q's on that because that would take too bloody long! I live SOR and am just wondering if anyone can suggest a good tackle shop to go into and have a chat with someone who can help set me up in that department. Also if a need to get another combo to add to the many I already have they can help me with that as well (the wife has more pairs of shoes than I have rods so I never get in trouble hehe)
Any help would be much appreciated and we shall see if I can get some good outcomes in the new year!
Cheers
