Robalo 265 Feedback
Submitted by pgreen1 on Wed, 2015-01-14 07:33Well the time has come that I may be upgrading from my 232 Wellcraft. I have been looking at either the Boston Whaler 255 conquest or the Robalo 265. I know the stats and the reputation of the whaler but I am interested in any feedback anyone can offer on the Robalo. Here is a couple of picks of a similar one I have been looking at. Maybe the whaler owners can comment as well.

Bar Crusher Gen 2 - Performance at Rest?
Submitted by Mick C on Thu, 2015-01-08 21:08Members,
I was wondering if anyone had feedback on the Bar Crusher Gen 2 hull design. My Hornet is very stable at rest and does not roll, but of course does not perform on the plane in moderate to heavy conditions. I note the Bar Crusher Gen 2 promotional material has stated an improvement in stability at rest but am seeking feedback on this. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Advice on a first boat
Submitted by Daly87 on Tue, 2014-12-30 23:09Hi Guys, joined a while back when I was just starting to fish although dont join in I read a lot. Great Forum.
So now iv been going out with a few friends on their boats, all around 6 - 7m in length, perfect for shooting across to Rotto. Now I have a bit of a bug and want to get my own boat.
I have a few questions I cant get answers from google.
A bit of info on what I expect, I have decided on a half cab, protection from the elements, somewhere to store things dry possible sleep overs with the misses, I can’t afford the lovely 7m boats iv been on so im looking at 5-5.5m. Pacemakers have my attention. Now as I live in east freo the boat will mostly be on the river, and taking down to mandurah. I know they will be great for that but will they take me to rotto? (tagging along with experienced mates who know the ocean fairly well) I seen the convoy has a 5m min so am I right in assuming they deem that a safe size to go over and therefore good enough for my needs?
Now a question about the pacemakers. Iv seen ads that say 16ft, 17ft and 18ft. Tried searching for this but cant find deffinate answers on if the pacemakers had these 3 different, but same looking, molds. I assumed that they would of only had 1 mold around that size, and then another for larger 21ft and so on, or did they actually have 3 molds a foot apart in size?
How do they handle chop?
how do they handle when stationary ( do they rock'n'roll more than anyother type or are they solid)?
Aaaaaaaand finally, are any of these owners on here, and has anyone any positives, negatives, recommendations about the following:
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/melville/motorboats-powerboats/chivers-thunderbird/1065747693
Thanks Guys, hope I will see some of you out there sometime!

23 ft pro line broaching considerations
Submitted by Relic on Fri, 2014-12-26 10:08Time to upgrade from my Baron sportsman, I cant justify pumping another $15K into it to upgrade the inboard as I just don't trust it anymore to head out far. I am considering a 23' Pro Line but am concerned about the transom in a following sea, seems to me it could be a concern considering the large gap. I was hoping any Pro Line owners or those familiar with transoms like this could give me some advice.
Thanks in advance

Fury 282
Submitted by Bodie on Wed, 2014-11-26 08:58Have recently had a chat with Scott from Fury boats and he let me know he has a new model Fury coming out in 2015, a dual console model. This will be ready by the Mandurah boat show next year.
As most probably know, I own a Fury centre console and rate is as the best riding hull of any boat I've ever been in. I've plans for an upgrade to the 28ft Centre console, or Dual console in the near future. Just about every person who has been out with me rates the ride of the Fury better than any boat they have been on.
I've put my Fury through its paces, from travelling 40 odd mile off Exmouth, to 4 metre swells off Jurien to 6 metre swells off Augusta, it handles all conditions with ease
I've seen the plans for the Dual console and it looks very attractive for both fishing and leisure purposes.
Fury boats are built locally in Perth and custom designed to any customers requirements. Scott is a fussy bloke when it comes to building his boats and takes a lot of pride in each boat he provides to a customer. When everything is built by hand one boat at a time the quality is nothing short of first class.
A lot of people would have seen the Fury's at the boat shows around WA, and some have probably jumped on board for a look. They are a premium boat of premium quality.
Anyone who may be interested in these, I'd be happy to take you for a spin to show you the performance of the Fury hulls.
So in 2015, Fury will have the Fury Centre console, Fury Hard top and Fury Dual console.
Here is a Video clip which will be aired early 2015 on a show called 'hooked on adventure'

Leeder Tomcat
Submitted by Willlo on Mon, 2014-11-24 09:31Well my mate has pulled out of our supposed boat syndicate,so i am going it alone.Although i wont be able to spend as much,i have been looking at glass boats 6.2 - 7.5 mtr,ie Cruisecrafts,Haines etc.I have come across Leeder Tomcat boats, made in WA a plus for me as i would like to support local. These boats mostly seem to have inboards which i have no idea about other than 'Gee they can be expensive'. I have seen a couple with outboards and that is the way i am thinking would be the go.Other than that would be good if any owners or previous owners could let me know how they go in any conditions. They look to be a nice solid boat with plenty of deck and nice shady cabin,as i have a haines c/c this plus the deck size is what i am looking for. Any input would be great.
Cheers

1st Boat 4 fishing
Submitted by BarraSlayer on Wed, 2014-08-20 22:33hi all,
I'm looking into buying my first boat, reside in Perth and was hopeful that the fw community could help save me from making a mistake with such a substantial purchase. I have lived in th nt my whole life and fished out of aluminium boats since I was a kid. Had no experience with the sea down here or glass boats. I'm keen on finding a boat that is safe offshore, relatively dry and smooth riding (no kidney belt needed!).
I have looked at a few models on the net but hard to make an informed decision with the marketing hype. I would like a boat that is 5-6.5m and easy to tow with my 2009 bt50. Budget is 25-45000.
Looking at several boats:
Surtees 5.5 workmate
Statecraft 1650/1750/1850
Formosa tomahalk
Sea Cat
Ocean Whaler
Any other suggestions?
Thx in advance guys as your advice will help heaps

Seafarer vagabond
Submitted by crano on Thu, 2014-07-24 18:45I have a mate who is considering buying a vagabond.Something that does concern him is the stories about Seafarers sticking their nose under the water.
Is there any truth in this or is it just a story? I would like to hear opinions about them from people who have owned them or been in one.
Please skip the opinions if you have not actually been in one.
Thanks

Fraser Cobia 6m - Any good?
Submitted by fats212 on Mon, 2014-07-07 16:35Hi guys,
I am looking at a Fraser Cobia thats listed as 6m/20ft. It has a low hours 100hp Yammie 4 stroke and the price suits me.
I am too far away for an inspection and I dont know much about those hulls. All the great things I hear about Fraser hulls tend to be referring to the older hulls.
I am a little concerned about the gunnel height - they seem a little low.
The donk also seems a little small, but I am assured it cruises fine at 20knots and can do 30knots WOT which seesm ok to me.
I guess I am just after any opinions on this hull. Good in slop? Dry? Stable? etc..
Cheers,
Anthony

Jenks craft 25 Refurb
Submitted by colesy777 on Mon, 2014-07-07 10:11Just thought I'd put a few pics up of my pride and joy, a Jenkscraft 25 I've been slowly doing up for a while now,
some things I've done, newer trailer, new deck,p including new flooring, new windscreen, targa arch,Bimini canopy and clears, 2nd fuel tank, new electronics constantly upgraded including big stereo, new marlin board, new bowsprit with electric anchor winch, new engine with bravo 3 leg, new helm and gauges, new gear shifter. New passenger seat, custom seating system with custom modified evakool esky to suit. Probably heaps more but too much to mention.
its an awesome boat in the ocean and I can personally vouch for its amazing performance in some extremely rough conditions. It loves it.

Seaswirl Striper 2301
Submitted by AaronC on Mon, 2014-06-23 11:16Hi everyone,
Interested to hear first hand accounts on this model boat. With an outboard. Anyone own one/ has owned one?
loking at the search function and there seems to be a few in WA but no real solid information. Interested to compare them to a BW. They seem to be a popular boat for the money. $50-60k
Tick most of my boxes, unsure about weight fully loaded- oversize towing? i can tow 3.5 tonne but does this fall into this bracket.
cheers in advance for any info

livin the dream...nordic 6.2 trailer cruiser
Submitted by fisherman54 on Wed, 2014-06-11 14:02Was wondering if this would be a suitable boat to trailer about the east coast coast of Oz on my retirement oddessy. My dream is to cruise the nsw and qld broadwaters and protected bays with the shelia. Kindda use her (the boat) as a caravan when we get sick of floating about. A little bit of ocean cruising about the close in islands of the great barrier ie. whitsudays, great Keppel, magnetic etc. and when a cyclone comes put her on the trailer and zoooooommmm outta there. Any one had any experience with these craft? I was kindda interested in a diesel economy little craft similar if anyone knows any....thx for any opinions. Brett.... Dunno if the site mods will allow the link, but here goes...... http://www.boatsonline.com.au/boats-for-sale/used/trailer-boats/nordic-6-2-trailer-cruiser/149084
Thanks to all who contributed and yes I did buy a boat but not the Nordic but a Finn 8..........Got exactly what I was looking for...economy in a diesel, lots of cabin space (for when the missus sends me to the dog box) a walk-a-round deck, potential to sail, lots of deck space and shade (over boom), now only thing to consider is a decent chartplotter as I have no ides of the east coast. http://www.boatsales.com.au/boats-for-sale/boatdetails.aspx?R=23995605&Silo=Stock&Vertical=Boat&Ridx=0&eapi=2
