Chivers Predator 650 Cuddy
Submitted by big123dave on Thu, 2018-05-10 18:37Evening all, first post here so excuse the newbie questions but can’t find anything on them.
Im looking at a secondhand 02 Chivers Predator 650. It’s got a 130 Honda on the back.
Anyone got an opinion/ experience with these? I’ve spoke to Peter at Chivers and he had one himself and rated it highly. I’m looking for a family friendly fisher. Prob 25 family/ 75 fishing split. Something comfortable for the youngsters (2&5) to head to Rotto on.
Cheers, Dave

Inboards Versus Outboard
Submitted by Willy on Sat, 2018-02-24 11:18Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen
I am considering purchasing a boat. One that has piqued my interest has an inboard engine. I had never considered an inboard before.
What are the advantages or disadvantages of Inboards Versus Outboard?
I think
Inboard Adv: Lower CoG, ease of access to engine components.Bigger capacity?
Disadv: Hull penetration, possible build up of explosive vapours in the bilge area
Outboard. Adv. More common
Disadv: Exposed to weather, higher CoG.
Thanks for your thoughts
Willy

yamaha 200hp Engine power loss
Submitted by Sea Hunter on Sun, 2018-01-21 11:49Hi All,
I have an issue with my 200hp Saltwater series2 2 stroke engine.
On 'flat' water there is no issue and the motor pushes along my tub nicely. but particularly in a following sea but also 'big' seas, coming down to the trough the motor cuts revs. sometimes enough that I disengage the motor then put back in gear and power on. It does not stall and apart from this issue, it is extremely reliable.
I have read the other topics similar to my issue on the forum but my issue seems slightly different and I wanted a little more precise information.
I have had a boat mechanic give it a full service. There is no micro switch for the gear engage selector. I have changed all fuel lines and filters and manual pump. I have checked the high pressure pump for particulates, and still the issue persists. It does this with a full tank or half and even one quarter full tank.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Fibreglass centre consoles around 17ft?
Submitted by jay_burgess on Sun, 2017-12-17 08:24I'm still not sure which direction I am going to go down whether I decide to get a Plate Boat and use is for my offshore fishing as well as barra work or get a fibreglass centre console and a smaller barra tinny later down the track...
Anyhow, I quite like the look of the Haines Signature 543SF.
Any other fibreglass centre consoles around that size worth a look? Must have a decent casting deck and storage plus good size fuel capacity (150L+).
Cheers
Jay

Reflex Chianti
Submitted by Phat trout on Sun, 2017-07-30 22:22Has anyone had any experience with Reflex Boats sold by Hi-Tech?
If they are any good, they seem pretty good value for money.
I was looking at the 630 with a 150 Merc on the back.
All advice and reviews gratefully accepted.
Phat Trout.
Anyone here own a quintrex 420 busta?
Submitted by scano on Sun, 2017-07-02 08:46Hi all,
anyone on on here own a quintrex 420 Busta? If so feedback good, bad or otherwise would be appreciated.
Potentially bought one yesterday (second hand) that is 3 years old and due to the absolutely diabolical weather, didn't get a chance to trial it on the water. They seem to get ok reviews online but after some more real world experience from people that actually fish here in W.A and not just an editor of an east coast magazine.
if you have one of these, by any chance what sort of money are they new with a 30hp 2 stroke on the back?
Many thanks, scano

In the market for a 6m Fibreglass! What should I look for?
Submitted by sam321 on Thu, 2017-04-06 10:50Hey there,
I am looking for a 6m fibreglass second hand boat. Some key areas that I am am looking for is a boat around the 19-22ft range, anywhere from 10-20k. Must be an outboard. I wouldnt mind buying a cheaper boat with a shit motor and upgrading when that dies to a nice new 150 4 stroke.
I have seen a lot of boats for sale that are way overpriced! also seen a lot of really old shitty engines that would be a ticking time bomb. for example a fraser 626 with the original evinrude donk on the back.
The top 3 boats in order of preference I have been looking out for are:
1. fraser 626
2. Voyager 19ft or the voyager ghia
3. pacemaker 2100
What boats should i be looking out for, what issues for certain models and other miscalaneous information you can think of?

Cross-country Boats Ezytopper 4.1
Submitted by mullows on Sun, 2017-03-05 13:40Hi Guys
Doing a bit of research into tinnys/roof toppers. Got long LSL owing next year and already looking at a big trip with the mrs and 2 boys. In the meantime could use it locally here in Karratha as a creek boat??
Came across this one and interested to know if anyone on here has one or been in one. I'm looking at Sea Jay Nomads/angler 3.85m etc and this is just that bit bigger and same weight range maybe even a bit lighter.
Interested in your thoughts
Cheers

Ocean whaler 565
Submitted by straith on Fri, 2017-02-24 01:40Well finally got a chance to take my "new" 2nd hand ocean whaler out in some decent chop.
I have to say wow!
Having been an ally monohull man most of my life Id have to say Im now a believer, firstly in fibreglass and secondly in trihulls.
Mighty impressed with its stability and the ease it handled all directions of sea. Particularly the following waves over 3 mile reef today.
A good indicator is always how many hail marys the finance minister/deckie says when shes out with me in any sort of weather.
The good lord would have been thankful for the rest as she never bothered him once i dont think!
She was "very comfortable" when asked as we surfed down through the shallows between breakers.
Certainly the dryest centre console ive ever been on too.
Looking forward to seeing how it handles the late return trip from rotto.
Great fishing platform too!
Can highly recommend if anyones thinking of a change from the traditional ally monohull.
Got some fish too! :-)
Cheers!!

Towing weight of 6.6m Redline and Razerline
Submitted by chevaps on Sat, 2017-02-11 01:49Hi all.
I was hoping some forum members here that own a 6.6m Redline or 6.6m Razerline Olympian could comment on the loaded towing weight of these boats.
I had my heart set on a 7.6m walkaround, however I would then be forced to upgrade my car to a Land Cruiser or Disco 4 or similar, which adds another significant hole to the wallet.
After speaking to my wife extensively, a 6.6m version may be a better option, but I need to know I can tow it with my current Hilux with 2250kg capacity.
Both manufacturers have provided a rough figure which is pretty close to the 2250kg capacity of my Hilux.
Unfortunately when building a boat, until it's built and put over a weightbridge, it only becomes a best guess, so having some validated data from owners will go a long way.
Thanks in advance.
Tom

Ocean whaler 565
Submitted by straith on Sun, 2017-01-29 16:50Hi all,
Just wondering if I can get some opinions on the ocean whaler 565 performance and handling.
Been doing alot of research but whilst the previous threads on here generally give a positive view Ive also read a lot of generic trihull opinion that really bags out the design as a whole bone shattering experience.
If you've owned one or been a passenger in one at any stage would really appreciate your take on them.
Cheers

Belvedere 550 widebody mackerel series.
Submitted by straith on Wed, 2017-01-18 04:00Hi all, long time since i posted. Looking fir a littlw help re boat id and review.
Just looking at a boat thats called a "Belvedere 550 Widebody Mackerel series.
Anyone heard of them? Cant seem to find anything on Google.
Saw something that said coraline were using the name belvedere boat builders at one stage?? Any connection??
Would love some history and review of this boat if anyone knows them?
Good looking plate ally but only has a 4 stroke yammy 100hp on the back.
Seems like it might be a tad under? Quite a large boat for its size if that makes any sense.

2006 Sea Fox 256
Submitted by stumpie on Fri, 2016-10-28 17:33hey Guys
Wondering if anyone here has owned or have had dealings with the 2006 Sea Fox. Do I run away?
I've read on hull truth that the older sea fox had issues with quality but not sure of the year when things started improving.
