Wednesday Fishing Adventures with Tapout and Adam
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2006-08-23 23:15Well, what an afternoon on the water, probably the best day fishing in the metropolitan area that I have experienced in a long time. We fished for 3 hours and released half a dozen small/medium sized pink snapper upto 55cm, a heap of skippy, lost a couple of biiig fish to the reef, released a bonito and had the back of the boat buzzed by a big 8-10ft shark that followed up Tapout's Scaly. We caught all fish on 6kg line on baitcasters, highlight being my personal best 20 pound dhuie in 15m of water. The other highlight being Tapout saying I've got a feeling, less than a minute later he's on again! Was a session that I will not be forgetting in a while, I hope that I've restored your faith in the metropolitan pinkie mate. :))

1 bream........
Submitted by honsu chin on Sat, 2006-08-05 07:29Got out for a fish early Sunday before work. With only 40mins to fish before work......only river prawns to use. First cast......missed a take, second cast......hookup and bust off.......thrid cast......BLOWIE, awesome..........next 3 or 4 hookups resulted in pulled hooks and bust offs due to lack of sufficient leader.....only had 6lb leader.
Finally landed one, took a pic and time to hit MACCAs for breakkie......

Dan South's Coral Bay Photos - Mitch's Report
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2006-07-25 13:32I'm back from from the bay and would have to rate it as one of the most memerable weeks of fishing ive had. Dans boat is a bloody great ocean boat and I want to thank him and his family for a great weeks fishing. I think when it comes to highlights, trolling along with 2 pushers out the back and a teaser chain of old cds out the back we had been at it for about half an hour with nothing happening. Do those teasers work ? the call was made to stop the boat bring in the cds and skirts and hit it wide for a bottom bounce. So with the boat stopped I lent out to grab the line to pull in the cds, and hollie bloody shite directly under the cds was not one marlin eyeing them of but 2. Gun it was the call and within 30 seconds there it was a big billie slapping my lure. What an adrenilin rush and with a short hook up it was all over. The same thing happened the next day but this time on dans tld 50 im still shaking just writing this down.
So i can tell you give it a crack - 12 or so old cds about 500 mm apart tied together with some old heavy mono and drop them out the back about 4 or 5 metres there's nothing to lose and i reckon it works.
I didnt get any moster fish in the boat but did catch a few good red fish and learnt a lot about how to go about it. A big tip is to have a good sounder as theres not alot of lumpy ground out there. The trick was to find the schooling fish on ya sounder drift over them pull up and go around again. We actually spent half the time dropping baits down and the other half the time finding the school and setting up for another drift. Small circle hooks were the go so thats it from me. I will be back in the bay next year for SURE.
p.s Got a couple of pics but no cigar on the billies. Im gonna give it crack again that is a definate!

Andy's Coral Bay Pic's
Submitted by Andy on Fri, 2006-07-21 14:56We had an awesome time, we got up there the week before the school holidays and the weather was joy, warm with no wind. Over the school holidays it blew a bit but we still managed to fish most days. Mitch and Dan South are still up there, they are leaving tomorow, the last few days they have been trying to catch a billie. Dan south and my brother got a 8kg and a 9kg red that was one of the best. Two other guys from our group caught a 50-60kg Black on a halco POPPER!!

Exmouth Photo's - Part 3
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2006-07-19 11:42The 3rd lot of Exmouth photo's with plenty more to come. A memorable trip with plenty of highlights that won't be forgotten in a hurry. Enjoy.
Well, what a trip!!! We managed to get 7 days of fishing, some of them being half days focused on fishing the incoming tide as the mornings were very blowy.
Since my first report we went out to Peak Island and caught a few medium sized gt's, one monster queenie, quite a few spaniards - biggest being 14kg and smallest about 7. One 22kg wahoo, big red bass, good sized rankin, small trout and red emperor, a monster cod of 50kg released of course and a hell of a lot of fish that were destroyed by sharks. At one stage we had a tiger shark all of 9ft try to be an air jaws on hookup, very scary business within 25m of the boat when he's launched well and truly higher than the boat. More longtail tuna than you could poke a stick at and quite a few yellowfin amongst them. Quite a few spangled emperor, but none the size of my beast last year. So many more fish its hard to remember, guess the photo's will tell a few stories. My double header of chinaman were probably the hardest fight in 25m of water I've ever experienced, one going 9kg and the other 4kg. The last two days were totally blown out which gave us plenty of time to get on the sauce, it was a bit unfortunate that we weren't out boat fishing but the land based gave plenty of time for a few beers.
I will post up a few happy snaps from my camera to give you an idea and will get the rest of the hundreds of photo's from the boys when I get a cd to burn them on.
Rock on Exmouth, provided many memories once again, I love that place. :))

Tuesday's Fishing Adventures
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2006-07-19 10:31Went out yesterday with Gully and his mate Kletch for some fishing action off Two Rocks. Unfortunately Mr Weatherman had done it to us again with the forecast being 8-13 knot north easterlies and us expecting a pleasant day on the water. It turned out to be well and truly 15-20 with us getting blown out to the fishing spot faster than we could drive. Moving at a relatively slow rate we decided that a spread of lures was in order due to the average conditions and reports of large yellowfin tuna being caught recently.
With little success we pulled them in a tried a few drifts over ground which screamed fish, but with large lead and such a strong wind blowing holding the bottom was a tiresome feat. Eventually Gully managed to land a nice breaksea and the first fish was aboard to some grateful sighs. Shortly after I knew I was onto a decent baldchin and with the trademark never give up fight it was at the side of the boat ready for the ice slurry awaiting. With two fish in the bag things went quiet again until Kletch decided to give up on jigging and turn to the darkside, using bait! The wind and current started to drop and finally things were starting to look a little more positive.
Within minutes Gully and I were witnessing the Kletch show, pulling up Pinky, Baldie, Pinky and to top it all off a Dhuie at the end of the day. It turned out to be quite an amazing feat, with Gully on one side and me on the other with the same baits and we couldn't even get a bite whilst Kletch kept on keeping on. Eventually I managed to pick up a small pinkie and to drop a dhuie half way up on the second last drift, sigh. All in all it was a top day out and good to be on the water. Cheers Gully. Here's a few pics.

Kasey Leong's Exmouth Expedition
Submitted by Kasey L. on Sat, 2006-07-01 02:58Hi all,
Just returned from the 12 hr drive from Exmouth in time to watch my beloved Deutschland overcome the odds against Argentina through penalties.
Here are some pictures from our trip. It seems Andy has fared much better, but I still managed to take some (hopefully good) shots of what we caught. Didn't manage well at the bottom bouncing department, except a plethora of sweetlip emperor, and trolling was mostly quiet... in between stuffing around and being stuffed around with (some unlucky incidents). Anyway, it was all good, and it was a great trip, with many memorable experiences. By the way, this was my first trip to Exmouth, and I think I might be hooked onto gamefishing/trolling too (another pricy bug), as well as frequenting the trip more often. Much was learnt, and many thanks to my travel companions Rob and Honsu+family for their previous experience and company.
Enjoy the pictures =) They were taken with pride.

_________________________________________________________
P.S. You may notice that none of them involve me. I will leave that conclusion up to you, but despite that, I am content with experiencing Exmouth for the first time, and not for the lack of trying. I popped almost everynight until my arms just about fell off, and still made another 10 more casts... and another 5... and another one for good luck... and another and another. Unfortunately it was not to be, but I still enjoyed my holiday. I believe I have tried my best, and sometimes luck is just not on your side. Perhaps we should have met up Andy, hehe ;) I did get my bag limit on Sweetlip, but nothing worth bragging really. I certainly learnt alot.
That is fishing. Exmouth is great, I would certainly want to do it again soon.
Thanks for reading, Kasey.

Got to Got to have Sol
Submitted by SHizz on Sat, 2006-06-24 14:39Had my soul for a little while now but havent had a chance to use it yet, tried woodies today but no fish wanted to play ball so headed down to the river and had a ball on blackies. Unfortunatly the Sol and ian miller raider where an overkill but still fun never the less(Had no other gear with me :P )
Managed to get about 10-12 fish all over size except for one, some fish well over 30cm. Heres one i took a quick snap of. Only stayed an hour or so.
[img_assist|fid=26525|thumb=0|alt=Sol meets Bream|caption=Testing out the sol, not a worthy opponent but still a nice fish.]

Fishing - FW Long Weekend Photo's
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Mon, 2006-06-05 12:33Was a good day out fishing yesterday, Bolts had some awesome success on the light gear inshore. In 14m of water his 60cm pink snapper and 20kg+ samsonfish were steam trains, but he managed to hold them off the sharp bottom. After the wind and the bite quietened down we headed out behind Rottnest to do some jigging. Once out there we noticed the only boat was hooked up, we tried jigging with little results and then turned to bait. We started getting into them and had some awesome afternoon fun, it went quiet on the jigs even thou we had them stirred up, was a bit wierd. Did someone say VORTEX? lol :)))
Anyway, hope you all had a great long weekend, has been some great conditions, hope to hear some good fishing tales. :)

Port Hedland Jewies - Spooled's Weekend Action
Submitted by Spooled on Mon, 2006-05-22 09:44Hey boys, yeah had a very memorable day out in the creeks on Saturday. The Thredfin were like herring and we got the kingies early morning as you can see. We got three and the one I am holding in the photo was the biggest but the other just under by a couple of KG. We had double hook ups on them which was mayhem. Yeah pretty stoked with the mulla's. Alround the day was awesome. Salmon were a little smaller than you could have hoped but atleast we tried a thousand lures as well. They took anything. I have some footage and more photo's of kingies but the blood may be a bit excessive! These Dhu's are alot better eating than the ones down south!! The photo's are in my brag board if you'd like to see them in full size.
Regards Spooled
