After completing my boatsmart course last week it was finaly my time to take the boat out without my normal skipper, Hillaries was my target and the 3 mile i thought would be a good place to start. After 3 hrs without any luck i decided to head out alittle wider. My first drop at new location approx 4mile out i got what i wanted it wasnt huge but for my first time skippering a boat, finding new ground and finaly some fish i thouht was great. Anyway i managed my first (ever) dhuie from this spot and it was size (54cm). I then hooked 2 more im sure where dhuies but tried to pass on the rod so i could film the catch (Had 2 sexy ladies on board). But both were lost during the fight as they are relativly new to fishing). Happy Fish Hunting Shane (looking4mulloway)

Hey all forum users just to let you know the crabs are around in Mandurah, Plenty size lots smaller but easily pickyourself up a feed. I have been scooping late at night when the wind dies down but have heard reports of them early morning for scoopers aswell and boats are picking up there share also uo til lunch time being best.
nothing is more relaxing than walking the estuary at night, plus bringing home a feed helps.
I have emailed adam a picture to post as i am having difficulties posting pictures so hopefully you will see one soon
Good Luck!

Had a great day out in the south wester which didn't blow in. Lots of tackle lost and many big bustoffs, a few were landed. Hitting the sambo's after a few beers wasn't the best idea, but still bloody good fun. Oh, and notable mention must go to super dhue, what a classic...

Well, what a day.. Back from down south and straight into the sambo jigging action.. An action packed day awaited us, first thing the trailer wheel decided to pack it in, 20 minutes later we were back in action.. On the way to rotto we saw heaps of baitballs and 2 hammerheads cruising around with absolute magic conditions.. Once out at the sambo grounds it was on for young and old with 20kg + fish being brought in and hooked up on constantly.. After landing a few monsters and losing a few jigs I tried some new ideas, mainly putting a hook on a sinker and jigging that, well, didn't take long at all.. we now have a substitute for losing jigs to the wreck all the time.. later in the day i also tried using a trolling skirt with a bit of weight on it to jig, no problemo, sambo's on skirts.. With them like they are out there at the moment, you can practically jig anything in front of them and hookup.. I have about 45 photos to go through, so will post some up soon..
Magic day on the water!!! Biiiiiiig Sambo

WEnt up to Exmouth last week. Was hoping to get into a GT or two. Found them but not in a frenzy mood. Managed one miss hit. Not long after that this critter jumped on my 150gm popper.

The middle session provided more sambo action, triple and double hookups.. They were certainly aggregating all right, bolts got the proof of that.. :) We then went out to the fads and saw one dolphinfish landed (not by us, on a mulie with berley) we tried trolling for a while and had no luck.. the fish the other guy caught was around 3kg and a decent fish with a few jumps.. Not bad.. after no luck we decided to go back into the sambo grounds where nearly half of the perth boating fleet assembled.. Some awesome dolphin schools that were bow riding on the way in made it pretty awesome after a pretty good mid morning session..

Triple hookup sambos, 2 bustoffs and a pinky from the bottom which was very unlucky with the bottom half of the rig being snapped off..

This is a nice watering hole near Newman. Saw a bloke fishing here once but I reckon the swimming and diving would be far better. Recognize anyone Ad's? tough day at the office Nice

Back from Steep Point where 2 of us managed about 2 macs a day apart from the 1st day where sharks and gaff shots lost a few fish. Spent 2 hours fishing the cliffs on the 4th day, which was a nice change of scenery, but no quieter with a good pinkie on my 2nd cast. The highlight was probably on the last morning, when a 12kg mac launched a meter out of the water with my lure in his mouth and the gave me heaps of stick on my herring rod and 10kg mono. A great gaff shot 10mins later had my first spaniard on lure and our bag limit reached.

Been reading up on this pinkies on soft plastic trick the east coast guys have been bragging about. Found a few fish in the burley trail over the weekend, so cut off the snelled floater and tied on a rubber shad. White one didnt get a touch but a few minutes of bounching a red/pink one we came up tight. Big grin

Going fishing tomorrow.. Looks like the weathers going to be pretty good and from what i've heard, every man and his dog will be out there.. We are heading wide and might do some trolling and jigging if we can find the big sambo schools that are out there at the moment.. BOM says: Sunday: NE winds 8/13 knots tending N/NW'ly late morning before shifting W/SW at 10/15 knots during the afternoon. Seas to 1.0m. Swell 3.0m, easing to 2.0m during the day. Ocean Outlook Sunday: WSW 2.5m 2.0m 2.0m 12 11 11 ENE 8-12kn W 4-8kn SE 4-8kn Dont really know who to believe, but it should be good to get out there regardless.. Will post some pictures if we get into some.. Tight lines for everyone fishing this weekend.

Well, im off down to 'sunny' Walpole tomorrow, probably to do some black breaming, maybe go over to the 'infamous' skippy rock and will probably get some spotlighting done, depending upon conditions. Might have to go to some of the ol' secret spots to see if I can't find any big blackies, kg's or silver bream.. And if not, getting plenty pissed for the grand final should be good, Carrn the Eagles, atleast beat Sydney, they suck. Taking an assortment of soft plastics down to give them a test out and a few small hardbodies. Never been a huge fan of them, but might be worth a shot if the bite is heating up. Will take the trusty camera, just incase. Anyway, Hope you all have a good weekend and get into some fish.. Will leave Sam incharge of the site, so hopefully everything will run smoothly.. Let us know how you go!! Tight lines, Adam

a mate caught this marlin a month or two ago . got it aon a red an white bibbed minno. as you would expect a hard mouthed fish like this to pull the hooks it couldnt . first jump out of the water it spun in the air lassooing itself back onto one of the trebbles of the lure witch was hooked up just in front of the gillplate.if ya look carefully at the pic you can see where the leader went arond behind the dorsal fin.jack had a hell of atime getn it boat side due to the fact of the position of the leader.fish basicaly had its head.if ya know what i mean JACK THE LUCKY #$%$#@$$%^^&

average sharky i got up north about a month ago, took a halco streaker(40g i think) of which the knot un-tied itself upon boating it luckily. As you can see it has a bit of a gaff wound(made worse by it flipping everywhere) If it werent for the blood, it would make a nice shot with the shadow of my rod and reel behind it, which wasnt intentional .

If ya ever get to onslow and the wind gets up or you got a boat load of kids or just havnt got the time or boat length to really get out there. Dont under estamate the salt jetty. Its only 5 minutes from the boat ramp. Ive seen bait balls getn busted up many times, also a great night fishing spot. Ive caught everthing from oversize bream ,black jew and my pb cobia 17kg all out of boats under 13ft Ive had several bust offs using wire with things that were put simply" unstopable" Best day there saw 2boated cobia 1 lost cobia due to fact it was a double hook up with no gaff no net and three slightly inebeeerated yobos bussling for room on a12 ft tinnie with a 6 horse power packed outboard on the back great day. great black jew haunt.
