3kg Baldy on micro jig
Submitted by tim-o on Sat, 2014-06-28 19:16Stopped at a spot on the way in today that showed a good school of fish and dropped a 20g jig down and was quickly eaten. Unsure of what I had, as I presumed the school to be skippy and clearly I wasnt fighting a skippy, needless to say I was suprised to catch my first baldy on a 30g jig rod! This topped off a good day with my mate Pauly (rocklobster), ended up baggin out with 2 dhus a black bum and this fella.
PS- If ya dont like the F word, dont watch the vid lol

Friday night Landbased Pinkie
Submitted by mjohns on Sat, 2014-06-28 08:51Scored this nice pinky last night, bang on 5kg gilled and gutted
Looked small coming up so i didnt bother with the gaff, then i grabbed the leader and tried to haul it up and it grew..
Half way up im thinking this is a bad idea but my knots and rig held up to the punishment and was safely landed.
Sorry about dodgy cropping but i dont wanna go back in the coming weeks and not be able to get a spot..
Had a couple of other bites but no hookups, was a bit of a surprise anyway.

abrohlos pic heavy
Submitted by scottland on Tue, 2014-06-17 16:14well another year has come and gone to quick. we recently just got back from abrohlos islands with craig and omar from saltwater charters. unfortuantly the weather wasnt to kind for us with only one day of nice weather. but the fishing was still constant enough to be happy.... very happy.
we left thursday night in some rough conditions but was worth it when we got out there with some nice pink snapper hitting the decks mainly on artificials and some big sharks on the second day we found a shoal with some bird action first ever cast with a stick bait for me resulted in a nice shark mack the rest of the boys had a ball on the shark macks dan lost a nice yellowfin and left with our tail between our legs the rest of the days were filled with filling our freezers with coral trout dhu bangers snapper and baldies... special mention on the demersal front has to go to wazza with this 810 mm trout caught on jig in midwater (note the stray hook in the mouth) omar the decky got this confused trout "sambo jigging" on the seriola and trolling sideof things might get some nice mackies tuna even a sambo on the troll nice aj on jig special mention on thisfront is pani with this awesome mackie on bull chop cheers for taking the time to have alook scott

Coral bay 2014
Submitted by hayden on Fri, 2014-06-13 13:02Well what a trip and we did have a ball out there on the water was up there for 3 weeks of beautiful weather well except the first week with rain
got some great fish up but also got a heap of sharks which were a pain as normal
this was my first trip up to coral bay with a boat under 6 meters well just anyway I went far and wide in my boat as people no it's for sale as I'm upgrading to a family boat. But this is what you can catch in mine even in rough weather
had 1 off my best days fishing with my old boy bagged out by 1 and was in by 2 he out fished me big Time getting 3 awesome goldband was a great father son day and another memory I have that is one to remember
the wife got her first marlin and she out fished me also but I'll just say I'm deck hand and don't really fish when she is on the boat lol but still happy if she is happy and if it's catching fish then I can't complain it was a great trip got to meet some new people and I can't wait for next year.
if anyone is interested in my boat feel free to ask I need it gone to make way for the new boat. It does catch fish as you can see

Submitted by BarraSlayer on Mon, 2014-06-09 22:00Here are some pictures from my March Trip to my folks place at Borroloola, 260km east of the NT/QLD boarder in the Gulf or Carpentaria. The bigger fish are land based, fishing the Macarthur River crossing 2kms from town. Using mostly soft plastic with a very slow retrieve either at sunset or sunrise. Chronarch e7200 & G Loomis 5 8'. Got a couple of pigs too which was a bonus.

more south coast fun
Submitted by Chris fish on Mon, 2014-06-09 20:27 the days count down and R&R finaly came and a week of some of the best weather ive even had greeted me as i got home to Albany, managed some awesome fish and did a lot of exploring including one day where i walked 7km with my backpack, ropes, cliff gaff and a 28ft pole gaff.
highlights include my 14kg sambo on a 3012H certate and plastic off the rocks solo while fishing about 7m up and had to cliff gaff it myself, Aron's 22kg sambo on the 50lb setup that gave him hell for ages before coming in, Aron with a magic double header of breaksea and harlequin off the stones. heap of good fish caught but off to work again and counting the days till 2 weeks at steep point after this swing.

Tuesdays bag
Submitted by mallon123 on Sun, 2014-06-08 19:26Took my mate out on tuesday to a spot north of rotto fishing in 30mt of water. 1st drop I hooked a 620mm skippy on a jig then we landed 5 dhuies one was leagal but was released. Then I had a big hook up felt like a big dhu the way it was fighting lost it to knot failure on my top snelled hook. Mate had a big hook up on a shark rig ran him into the reef. Then all went quiet for a few hours mate got a 430mm goat fish. Decided to come in close to hillarys to try for pinkys mate landed a 890mm 7kg pinky on a 1 foot shark bait. We had a few more sniffs but no more hook ups. All in all we had a great day and managed a good feed.

double trouble
Submitted by TheBradyBunch on Wed, 2014-06-04 21:06hey there guys just thought that i would share the success we had tonight. i decided that i would go for a fish an take my cousin so at 5pm we headed off. After about an hour we set out some fresh baits an waited then all of a sudden both rods took of at once an i thought that we were both hooked on the same fish but was not the case we had both hooked up on different mullies at the same time and back home before 7pm. That was a quick trip an i was told i could keep going if i could get these results all the time

Jazz Charters- Seeing Red
Submitted by TROOPY on Tue, 2014-06-03 12:16Managed to get out on jazz charters on Sunday with a few mates, and what a day we had. Snapper on the bite all day with the plastics and jigs getting smashed nearly every drop.
only using plastics and jigs on the gomoku and 20lb gear, doesn't get any better than that.
easily the best metro charter I've been on, great bunch of blokes and puts you on the fish. Cannot wait to get back out there with them.
cheers

Still some salmon kicking around
Submitted by beau on Mon, 2014-06-02 18:28Jumped on a mates boat yesterday and got stuck into the salmon in the shallows. Not huge numbers of fish like it was 2 weeks ago but still some decent size packs of fish lurking around. Hooked 2 fish on the 1 lure a couple times and I managed to catch the same fish twice within the hour, who says salmon are slow learners??
Cheers,
Beau.

Nice feed of whiting
Submitted by wogboy1963 on Sun, 2014-06-01 14:47It was a bit rough and cold Saturday morning but well worth it before the N/E got too strong. It was worth wearing the beanie and thermo's most of the hour we were fishing. Ending up getting a nice feed of whiting (42) with some real big thumpers around 181gm but mostly fat plump ones to fillet.

Submitted by Jorie on Thu, 2014-05-29 19:29me and a mate headed down to local jetty other night was pretty full on had a few salmon hook ups and bonito follows sighted a couple of decent sambos didn't touch baits tho. Srarted to get a few runs amd things where looking up for the night. Me and my mate had the gut feeling tonight was the night. Finally the handline got a run and the hook was set call was made straight away definitely a fish. I quick ran to my with the gaff and weighted for the colour. PINKIE my mate shouts its a horse. Few tense moments on gaff and before long we floppef it on deck! 105cm 14.5kg landbased pink mate was stoked!!! We then proceeded to try get myself one. Not long passed about 40mins and my torsa started screaming picked it up set the hook and again call was made for a definitely fish short time later we had a healthy mulla on surface and gaff was being deployed. Gaff sunk in amd bang mulla om deck for me!! We where verry happy boys! ! Few quick photos and Zzzzzzzz my mates reel was screaming. Again another hook up and a tense fight around the pylons and before long another healthy mulla on deck all within an hour!! Started to pack up and was home by 8pm both mullas went both 14kg.. hear are a few pics.

First Mulloway
Submitted by Finatic on Fri, 2014-05-23 13:14Hey all,
Finally after 47 years!!!!
Decided to go out to my local boat ramp for a last blast before flying back to work loaded with half a dozen leftover mulies. after 45 minutes and down to my last mulie this monster inhaled it. Fifteen minutes later and some tense moments where she erupted at the surface and tried to hide under the boat ramp this 122cm 16kg mulloway emerged.
