Up they come
Submitted by Fuzz on Sat, 2015-01-03 13:40Few pics from last couple days on the water, plenty of big spiders around, we had the choice to size our quota and return the smaller ones before we come up on both days. Heaps of dhu in real close too, cn 6 fish all over 8 kegs one dive in 9m of water. Old mate mr blue hung with us for a good 20 mins before he ate the straight hook. Some dhu were from the rod aswell. And yes one of the 3 dhus was released straight after the photo, 3 nice ones over the side on one drift doesnt happen everyday.

I just love this place called home!
Submitted by southcity104 on Thu, 2015-01-01 22:12Looking back 2014 was a cracking year on the water. I probably should never complain! Perth has to be the best place in the world. 2015 is going to be even bigger and just maybe I'll boat that elusive swordfish.
Here's a few pics of last year which were on the phone.
Hope you all have great year ahead

New Tub, First Blood
Submitted by Spence on Thu, 2015-01-01 21:27Invested in an upgrade from a 5.2 Savage to the 6.2m. Lovely boat, joy to drive even in the rough.
Slow start with a few baldies, KGs and breaksea and a southern blue fin. but finished off the day with a 15kg big buck. Lost it first drift, and 3rd attempt re-hooked the same fish with the previous rig in its mouth....stupid fish. :p
Video of the dhuey surfacing and being boated is here: youtu.be/-z5ZTG-OsPU

big day on the blue!
Submitted by brenz on Mon, 2014-12-29 19:10With the 3.8 mt tinny in tow it was metro tuna that were the target for this morning ....
got to the ramp at 5 and were on the selected location by 530. quick sorting of the tinny saw us ready to go, almost straight away there was an eruption on the surface , so brett armed with a zipbaits monsoon breaker stickbait shot it straight into the disturbance and before one rotation of the handle was complete all hell broke loose ! first cast of the day and tuna landed... essentially this lasted the whole morning with bait and bust ups everywhere and in every direction ... ended up landing bulk tuna , amberjacks and tailor all on surface gear which kept us well entertained. Also managed to be graced with the presence of an overly large shark that was easily over the length of the tinny!
all day the monsoon breakers were the unstoppable lure with many other brands not even getting a look in !
all in all a top fun action packed day which entailed a large restock of lures ready for the next trip

My new boat
Submitted by Percula on Sun, 2014-12-28 09:02Hi All
Thought I would show off my new boat. Good tub with notmany hours on it, but hoping to change that over the next few months.
Had it a few weeks now and gaining a bit more confidence and getting to know it more each time I go out.
Really tested it on Friday, heading out for a bottom bouce, chased some tuna the other side of rotto and got smashed by some sambos out deep which were unstoppable! Good times!
Couple of photos attached of what we have caught so far!
If you see me out and about come and say hello!

Maiden Voyage success..
Submitted by Marky on Wed, 2014-12-24 11:41Gday guys, Long time between posts, finally picked up the new boat (440 renegade, 60 yammy) and took her on her maiden voyage the other day. Conditions were ideal and the fish were on. Launched around 8am and back at the ramp at 1230. Found a nice school of big jews which gave us all a hiding in 10m of water.. Also picked up a couple of nice bluebone and a trout... Jewies went 115,116,119cm and all around the 20kg+. Gotta love Broome wet season between the storms..

Submitted by perthblue on Wed, 2014-12-24 07:34 Hey all. went for a fish down local beach last night in hope of something big. Was pretty slow uneventful nite with only a few little ones. Got to early hours this morning just after i closed my eyes wen the first balloon 150m out decided to go for a solid run. 5mins into that fight my new avet overhead with a bigger bait on also started to run with alot if speed so give up first rod to a mate who always wanted to catch something big. After 30mins he had the first one close turned out to be 1.8m tiger. Another 30min on and had another alot bigger and fatter. Was about 2.4m and bloody fat. Also hooked a big a$$ grey ray would of been 6ft across.

Quick Reef fish 11th Dec
Submitted by Wishniwasfishn on Mon, 2014-12-15 13:08I had a few Assassin Rods on loan to try out and with a window of opportunity presenting itself I headed for my favourite Reef. I had 3 Rods to try but had a ball using the 9ft from the AMIA series catching a few chunky chopper Tailor in the low 40s & 1 x 65cm model released, some undersized Pinkies Herring etc. Loved using the Rod and could cast with it all day. Have one on my Chrismas list now.
Hope the post all ok

Day 4
Submitted by Bunny on Thu, 2014-12-11 19:53Day 4.
After a rest day we headed wide only to find the Wahoo etc. were off the boil so chased some other stuff.
Apart from a few Leopard trout and a Yellow Lip Emperor we got two big Blie Spot Trout at 75 and 76cm. Got an approximate 20 kilo Wrasse as well for a quick photo. The Spanish were still chewing and we left them alone as much as possible. Could had bagged out on them.
Had a Marlin buzz the boat which was cool and the Dolphins at the end was great. Got some more video to edit!! Photos are only the ones on the IPhone so will put up more with the full report.

Day 1 and day 2
Submitted by Bunny on Wed, 2014-12-10 06:01A mate and I have a few days off and the first two days has produced some good fishing. We left them biting both times as we had enough fish. The second day was a struggle early on the bottom but the top water action was pretty special with flying Spanish hitting stickbaits in amongst GTs. The first day we never went more than 5 miles offshore and had a ball. The trout in that pic with the Cobia is around 65cm. Will put a full report up with video when we are done.

Stickbait caught Mulloway
Submitted by Chris fish on Tue, 2014-12-09 19:09My brother has been killing it on mulloway on bibbed minnows lately with some days getting up to 11 in a session and he has even caught 2 big giant herring from the rivers down here in Albany so i decided it was my turn to tag along and have a go myself.
Typical me being me i like to do things a bit differently and my obsession with stickbaits is a bit crazy. anyway went for a quick hour flick before dark and ive landed myself a healthy little fish on a maria loaded 140mm sinking stickbait worked just under the surface. Was awesome watching it nail the lure and the big paddle tail come out of the water just after the strike. was a very healthy fish in great condition and released to fight another day. so so happy to have achieved that even if it was only a small fish!!

First Swan Mulloway
Submitted by shorething on Mon, 2014-12-08 17:39For a few years now I've seen photos and reports here on FW of Mulloway caught in the Swan. Everything sounded awesome except the amount of hours people had to put in to get one (and how many people haven't yet got one at all). I'm also predominantly a lure over bait fisho and trying to get one on a lure could take even longer. A few weeks ago I decided to finally give it a crack for the first time ever so I called a few mates, bought some mulies (because I'd tried and failed that day for some fresh river tailor) and we made our way to the Narrows area. Knowing we could literally be sitting there for hours for nothing, we brought some snacks and outdoor chairs and I figured that if worse comes to worst, we'd just sit around and chat. The thought came to me that some people really love to catch up over coffee, I'd rather catch up over a chance of a mulloway!
Went down for a few hours and after nothing happening all of a sudden my mate was on! Excitement levels were high but quickly extinguished when, after a long fight, we saw Mr Eagle Ray rise to the surface. We packed up about 10:30 with no more hits but also with a vow to return.
We went the next week for our 2nd night of sitting and chatting and maybe catching. Decided on the narrows this time but our baits were just getting demolished by pickers so at 9:30, with only 6 mulies left, the call was made to head to move to where we'd fished the week before. Not long after arriving my mate had a 20 second run which dropped the hooks but otherwise it was a non event.
It was pretty cold so we decided about 11 we'd soon head home. As we were pulling in our baits, I vaguely recalled reading somewhere that often Mulloway could just be cruising around close in so before we left I said let's just drop our baits right at our feet and see what happens..
We continued chatting and a few mins later there was a *tap* *tap* on my line then zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I was on! Whatever it was was big and going very hard...then everything went slack. NO! I thought it was off..but then after winding in a bit, the rod loaded up and I was still on. It must have just quickly turned in the current or something... ahhh nervous moments!
All this while I was thinking it was likely another eagle ray but something in me was also clinging to the fact it was a fish. I could feel what I thought were big head shakes but I know that the wings or tail of a ray can sometimes resemble that too.. Regardless, It didn't matter what it was unless I got it in.
After a few runs and a decent fight it finally surfaced almost in slow motion......
"IT'S A FISH!!!" It was a big mulloway!! Unbelievable!!! We were in shock that our plan had somehow worked!
After some very tense moments the fish was landed! A big high 5 was exchanged and team morale was at an all time high! First ever Swan Mulloway which went ~17kg and caught on a snelled half mulie and 15lb braid. I couldn't stop smiling the whole way home knowing that, having only put in about 5 hours of fishing, I'd seemingly beaten the odds in a big way. Great times!

The Last Hoorah
Submitted by beau on Sat, 2014-12-06 18:56Hadn't planned on heading out this morning, but when I woke to near perfect conditions and the possibility of it being the last session on the boat with a potential buyer veiwing the boat in the arvo I had no choice but to get out on the water for a quick session. Day started off great with Cody getting his first Kingie on fly then mayhem followed with fish falling to baits, stickbaits and fly.
Cut it fine when I had one hour to get home and get the boat scrubbed spotless but only a few hours after catching the last fish the boat was sold!
I'll post more on what an experience it has been owning our first boat during the week, lots of piccies!
Cheers,
Beau.
