Pajero turbo Diesel for towing
Submitted by bouttime on Thu, 2008-02-07 14:47Anybody tow with 1 of these or know someone who tows with one. Had a look at the Triton and towed the boat with it but found it tows like a dog, all over the shop and just doesn't feel right. Now looking at a Pajero VRX Turbo but i don't know anyone who tows with one. Will be pulling around the 2-2.2T. Have the current Pathfinder which goes well and so did my Terracan but if anyone out there has one would be keen to know what you think before i sign up on one for 4 years.
Thanks

Issues Register - Changing Avatars & Others
Submitted by Dreamweaver on Wed, 2008-02-06 06:34Gang,
I'm having problems changing my avatar. I've accessed My Account then clicked on the Edit tab, then scrolled down to the Picture section. Once there, if I just try a (presumably replacement) Upload Picture, by browsing to the relevany sub subdirectory on my PC, it doesn't change it.
I've also tried deleting the image (on the remote (Fishwrecked) host) - which makes the display of the old avatar dissapear. But then when I do Upload, the old one comes back again!
...and yes, I'm clicking on the Update button at the bottom of the pane.
The attributes of the (intended) replacement Avatar is well within remote host specs.
Any ideas?
If it helps, the URL for my existing avatar is http://fishwrecked.com/files/pictures/picture-1806.jpg
I've even tried a delete, cancel (browser) session, same prob.
Cheers!
Colin

Oil Changes...
Submitted by Dreamweaver on Thu, 2008-01-24 08:26For all those males that have changed their own oil - I SO can relate to this:
Oil Change instructions for Women:
1) Pull up to Jiffy Lube when the mileage reaches 3000 miles since the last oil change..
2) Drink a cup of coffee
3) 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a properly maintained vehicle.
Money spent:
Oil Change: $20.00
Coffee: $1.00
Total: $21.00
Oil Change instructions for Men :
1) Wait until Saturday, drive to auto parts store and buy a case of oil, filter, kitty litter, hand cleaner and a scented tree, write a check for $50.00.
2) Stop by 7/11 and buy a case of beer, write a check for $20, drive home.
3) Open a beer and drink it.
4) Jack car up. Spend 30 minutes looking for jack stands.
5) Find jack stands under kid's pedal car.
6) In frustration, open another beer and drink it.
7) Place drain pan under engine.
8) Look for 9/16 box end wrench.
9) Give up and use crescent wrench.
10) Unscrew drain plug.
11) Drop drain plug in pan of hot oil: splash hot oil on you in process. Cuss..
12) Crawl out from under car to wipe hot oil off of face and arms. Throw kitty litter on spilled oil.
13) Have another beer while watching oil drain.
14) Spend 30 minutes looking for oil filter wrench.
15) Give up; crawl under car and hammer a screwdriver through oil filter and twist off.
16) Crawl out from under car with dripping oil filter splashing oil everywhere from holes. Cleverly hide old oil filter among trash in trash can to avoid environmental penalties. Drink a beer.
17) Install new oil filter making sure to apply a thin coat of oil to gasket surface.
18) Dump first quart of fresh oil into engine.
19) Remember drain plug from step 11.
20) Hurry to find drain plug in drain pan.
21) Drink beer.
22) Discover that first quart of fresh oil is now on the floor. Throw kitty litter on oil spill.
23) Get drain plug back in with only a minor spill. Drink beer.
24) Crawl under car getting kitty litter into eyes. Wipe eyes with oily rag used to clean drain plug. Slip with stupid crescent wrench tightening drain plug and bang knuckles on frame removing any excess skin between knuckles and frame.
25) Begin cussing fit.
26) Throw stupid crescent wrench.
27) Cuss for additional 5 minutes because wrench hit bowling trophy.
28) Beer.
29) Clean up hands and bandage as required to stop blood flow.
30) Beer..
31) Dump in five fresh quarts of oil.
32) Beer.
33) Lower car from jack stands..
34) Move car back to apply more kitty litter to fresh oil spilled during any missed steps.
35) Beer.
36) Test drive car.
37) Get pulled over: arrested for driving under the influence.
38) Car gets impounded.
39) Call loving wife, make bail.
40) 12 hours later, get car from impound yard.
Money spent:
Parts: $50.00
DUI: $2500.00
Impound fee: $75.00
Bail: $1500.00
Beer: $20.00
Total: $4,145.00
But you know the job was done right!

Decapitated Kangaroo!
Submitted by Dreamweaver on Wed, 2008-01-23 09:48Every Friday night, we'd pack my little Ford Escort van (beast machine NOT!) and make the familiar trek down to Yallingup car park.
In those days, there where no freeway sections, and the stretch of road down near Madorah/Singleton was know as 'the mad' mile on account of there being one lane each way, and the tendency for everyone to put the foot down and overtake with absolute disregard for common sense and safety.
As I said, MOST recolections are fond, but one incident is most prominent:
My brother and I would take spells driving. On one particular occassion, having seen a few roos, as I was belting myself into the passanger seat, I turned to my brother and said 'don't hit any roos'. He grinned and said ' I'll do my best'.
What I should have said was 'Don't hit any kangaroos, even dead ones'. Let me go on.
No sooner had I lapsed into a chest on chin doze, cathartic by the constant drone of the motor and monoty of an unchanging night road view, then there was was a might BANG and the van lurged suddenly upwards.
Groggily, I arose from my slumber, to see the (very hard) head of a decent sized kangaroo, pierce the floor pan between my feet! The escorts where renown for very thin floor pans (as several bush track gashes had previously proved).
The forward momentum and sharp edge of the floor pan hole decapitated the head (of the already dead roo) and splattered blood right through the cabin and across my legs.
What a nightmarish awakening!
We made it to yally's car park and washed ourselves down thoroughly and, as best we could, washed out the cabin.
I might add that 'roo parts etc' had, by then, congealed on the hot exhaust and other surfers down there were not quiet about the smell.
Episodes like that are hard to forget!

Lost
Submitted by Jody on Fri, 2008-01-18 08:25Lost grandpa
All Grandpas, heed this WARNING:
Do not lose your grand kids in the mall.
A small boy was lost at a large shopping mall. He approached a uniformed policeman and said, 'I've lost my grandpa!'
The cop asked, 'What's he like?'
The little boy hesitated for a moment and then replied...
'Crown Lager stubbies and women with big tits'

Harbour Jetty High From the Water?
Submitted by Dreamweaver on Wed, 2008-01-16 08:56Hi Folks
Something that's driving me nuts!
I remember being on a jetty in a harbour/inlet in WA (south of 26) that is very high out of the water. I thought it was in Princess Royal Harbour - ALBANY - but stuffed if I can find it.
Sorry, don't have a photo - was ages since I've been there.
Anyone tell me where it is, or has it been dismantled?
