Save our country
Submitted by Deleted on Sun, 2019-11-24 21:05Hey lads and ladies.
Unfortunately not fishing related but sort of.
The family and I spent the weekend down at yeagarup with track care https://www.facebook.com/TrackCare/ , pemberton discovery tours
and fellow volunteers doing the annual beach clean up.
This is the 2nd year we've been. We've also been part of many other rubbish clean ups including wilbinga and mundaring powerlines.
This year we had 16 cars and a heap of kids involved
This post is purely aimed at spreading the word of what we are doing to our coast and bush land.
This small trailer load is just 6km of beach around yeagarup. Many larger bits are to be collected later.
I was also witness to rangers enforcing fines on people burning their camp scraps into the fire
All it takes is you picking up your own rubbish or a couple extra pieces when you see them.
Only future our kids have is one with no rubbish.
Cheers for reading

Prop info 14.25x19 for Honda 150
Submitted by bradz on Tue, 2019-11-12 11:29Hi guys
Upon testing my project rebuild (Regent Viscount), my 150hp Honda running a 14.25 x 17 3 blade is getting around 6300rpm at WOT. This is too high. Should max at 6000 according to specs. But only getting 3 0 knots. So I'm chasing a 19. Does this sound about right?
Are there any used props around?
Cheers

Diesel prices
Submitted by carnarvonite on Mon, 2019-11-04 13:27If any one is heading to Gnaraloo [roads not too bad, was up there on weekend], Coral Bay [rip off bay] or Exmouth and need refueling in Carnarvon, don't head in to the easiest servo [Caltex] on the tee junction. They are on average 9-10 cents a litre dearer than the servos in town. The new BP going out of town is 8 cents dearer than the town ones

Advise required for mounting electric motor to Alvey reel
Submitted by Alpha on Sun, 2019-10-27 21:14HI Gentleman.
I'm researching putting some 12v motors on a couple of Alvey reef master winches that i have laying around the shed so we can try our hand at a bit off deep dropping 200+ meters.
The main issue i have is getting the right motor, I can purchase a 12v motor 300w with 80 rpm and 22 to 25 newton meters of torque and that seems to be about the best torque motor i can get.
12v ticks the box
80rpm is a bit quick so a speed controller will fix this. i will need around 70rpm to retrieve roughly 50 meters a minute.
Torque,, here i think is my problem. 22 to 25 newton meters of torque i dont think is enough. If i've done the sums correctly, lets say 25 newton meters of torque only equates to 18.4 foot pounds or 2.54 kg-m , which to me doesn't sound like its not going to be anough to retrieve a say 30kg fish (assuming I"m going to catch 1)
If its measured in kg-cm now its 254 kg-cm which sounds like more than heaps to retrieve this fish and this motor is more than suitable
My question to all the engineers on here...... Is 25 newton meters going to be enough??
Ive reserched the heck out of it from people that have already done this and i"m not having any luck with what they have used. i've watched i think every youtube video and they all look great and I'm keen to make it happen but im stuck on the motor bit.
I have access to lathes and mills at work so that part will be covered. If anyone has already done this or can advise me it would be much appreciated

Deck cover advice
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2019-10-27 20:09G'day all
I've been asked to quote on building a pontoon roughly 3m x 2m which will be moored for kids to swim out to and play on etc.
I'll be fabricating from ali but of course there's the problem of heat during the day and I'd like to avoid the kids getting burnt feet etc when they climb on.
Can anyone suggest a product that doesn't cost a fortune that I can fix to the top that will absorb the heat.
Cheers
Andy
