Another dinghy adrift
Submitted by carnarvonite on Mon, 2019-01-21 06:30Got another phone call this arvo from a lady who's dinghy had escaped its mooring down on Tamala station and was heading out to explore the bay alone.
This one makes 3 in the last 6=8 weeks, 2 of which I believe were from mooring rope failures, either they have the wrong ropes or gear or they do not know how to tie it up properly.
To my knowledge all 3 haven't been sighted again or if they have Sea Rescue haven't been notified

BBQ (American Style) Caterer
Submitted by selthy on Sat, 2019-01-19 17:58Does anyone know of any BBQ caterer's in Perth?
I am looking for one for a function however can only locate a couple online and they are both already booked for the date I am after. When I say BBQ, I'm thinking ribs, pulled pork, briskett etc.

AAAAARRRGH!!!
At least that saved me another $120

This is EXACTLY why I stopped renewing it every year, like I used to, for everything, just in case I felt the urge to take the kids out for the day.

Box (container) for Epirb - Flairs - Life Jacket etc
Submitted by Mainey on Fri, 2019-01-18 13:24 Have a 4.2m Stacer Seahorse and have always had problems placing things somewhere knowing it would be there affter a road trip or indead a fishing trip
So when I had seen a BLACK plastic box with lid in a shop I had the idea it would be useful, only cause no-one could see inside it
AND.... it would float if I was turned over etc
My tinnie had no flat floor at the front, in front of the front bench (seat) so I made a sample from cardboard, so it would sit on the stringers and runners and be level.
I then transferred the sample to some 'marine' ply (look-alike) and it fitted nicely between the front seat and the tray under the front, as seen in the photo.
I put the box on the board and measured where the box had to sit, so it would not touch the front seat, then glued/screwed a piece of 3" x 2" timber across the board.
I then covered the ply platform and 3 x 2 in black boat carpet, to match the black plastic box.
As in the photo it can't be seen from the back of the boat.
Now will glue a bit of black carpet to lid so the RED CLIPS are not seen and it looks like it's just 'rubbish' in the front of the boat.

The black box IS sitting behind the front seat in this photo - is not seen unless you get up close and personal

Black box sits nicely in the gap available with-out hitting front ( or back ) of the first seat.

If it ain't broke don't fix it
Submitted by sea-kem on Wed, 2019-01-16 22:28So I go online to renew son's BFL the site and procedure is all changed. Anyway after declining to register with DOT (an option) I'm forwarded onto the renewal page and enter son's details exactly as per the licence. Error message saying not of the details entered match any in the system WTF!!
I've been renewing online for years without a glitch now this crap because some smart jockey wants to change it all up and try save the gov some money no doubt.
I now have to make phone calls to chase all this up and sort out, what a crock of shite.
The previous system was simple and easy, why change it you bureaucratic morons.

Cleaning fibreglass deck advice
Submitted by jay_burgess on Mon, 2019-01-14 08:08Hi guys,
Chasing some advice regarding cleaning the fibreglass deck on my boat.
Usually I just scrub with a stiff bristled brush and some hot soapy water but the Pilbara takes it's toll over time and I'm getting a few stains pop up.
Eventually I'm going to get Deck Armour so I'm not massively concerned but would like to be able to get it to come up a bit nicer so satisfy my OCD haha.
Cheers

Anyone had a trailer wheel work loose?
Submitted by Paj man on Sun, 2019-01-13 10:20I was driving back from the ramp yesterday when the trailer started handing a bit funny, before I could find a spot to pull over and check someone came up along side me and said the back wheel on the trailer was about to fall off. That got me off the road pretty quickly and sure enough, the back left trailer wheel (tandem trailer) was very loose.
I remember there was a vid getting on fb a while ago regarding someone who had their lug nuts loosened at the ramp, was wondering if anyone has experienced this in Perth?
Hubs were replaced 18months ago and apart from the coral bay trip which followed, Ive only done trips to the ramp since. All other lug nuts were tight on the trailer and we’re all originally tightened by myself. I know these things can happen but at the same time I couldn’t help but be suspicious. I’ve never seen it happen on a trailer other than the fb post.

Any spraypainters looking for work?
Submitted by pelagicyachts on Fri, 2019-01-11 11:54Hi guys
I have a 1980 short wheel base hilux project which is at the respray stage -
To give you and idea of the condition -
*the previous owner has sprayed with repco/supercheap cans and lets just say was not great at masking
*car is fairly straight with only a handful of small pressure dents which I would want faired prior to painting
* rust - there is non showing - however there is previous rust repairs on the passenger side roof (where the turret meets) and roof rails (both sides) and bottom of the windscreen on passenger side and in the tub at the factory join behind the cab - to be expected for a 39 year old car
*I have removed all trims etc
Criteria-
I am looking for someone to respray it, outside only - (inside of tub does not need paint) - same colour, does not need to be show quality but don't want it to be slapped on either - no real rush but don't want it to take a year either :-)
Happy to pay cash and would be interested to know indicative $$ amount (pm me if of interest)
Pic of car below :-)
cheers

Cricket commentary
Submitted by still trying on Mon, 2019-01-07 16:36Does anyone else think that channel 7 commentary is terrible. That on top of there being a double header of bbl on Saturday and no bbl on free to air tv. I know its on foxtell but i havent bothered to pay for sport the last few years. I think that foxtell winning this last contract will be the end of Aussie cricket for a few years the amount of young kids that won't get to follow the sport any more will kill it.

Second hand laptops
Submitted by timboon on Fri, 2019-01-04 15:25Does anyone know a specific place where U Can buy second hand laptops? Surely there are plenty out there that are still perfect but no longer needed. I had a great Toshiba Satellite notebook but the screen was damaged and sounded expensive to replace. My latest one was a cheapy and fine until my youngest pulled it off the bench and now it's half rooted.
I don't need anything latest/greatest but if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Outrigger bases WTB

They need to be gunnel mounted and a max mounting surface of 80mm wide. Gunnels are not wide.
Looking at either the hookum style flush mount or reelax style deck mount. Need to be able to handle 41mm poles.
Also any one know who stocks these in Perth.
Thanks

fish cleaning station
Submitted by Sea goat on Fri, 2018-12-28 18:40HI guys.
looking to create a bit of a makeshift cleaning/filleting station at home as the missus keeps hammering me everytime i mess up the outdoor bbq/bench top :)
nothing fancy, looking for a stainless steel table with sink, and hose attachmemnt.
just wondering if anyone has any tips.....would it be worth attaching a drain to let the water go into the soakwell? necessary to concrete the floor?
keen to hear how you guys process your bigger catches.... limited backyard so will be in small side area at front of house, no lawn/grass to soak up the wsater, just rocks overlying dirt.
any tips on wher ei can pick up a decent table?
cheers!

What poundage line do others use for the monsters from the deep.
