Anybody towing with a transit?
Submitted by Josh on Sat, 2014-04-19 17:46Now thinking of getting a transit instead of a Ute.
Anybody have one?
I drove one during a short stint I did as a courier and it went pretty well.
Anybody towing with one? How does it tow? Do they like to drink on the tow?
I am looking at 08 and newer, 2.4 or 2.2 diesel, low roof, short base, preferably two sliding doors.

Woodies ramp boat fire
Submitted by southcity104 on Sat, 2014-04-19 12:50While slipping the boat at woodies this morning there was an an explosion in the Cockburn power boat club. I turned and saw debris flying above a 30ft launch followed by smoke. The crew seemed to be ok and attempted to fight the fire but after the engine hatch was lifted it all went down hill. Anyways within minutes there was no saving. After the mooring lines melted off it drifted onto the rocks. I hope for the owners sake it was insured. A fair bit of damaged was caused to the pontoon ramp too.

Footy on Good Friday
Submitted by Dale on Fri, 2014-04-18 13:09Yeah I know it's a sacred day and all and some might see it as such, but it's really about time the AFL started setting games on Good Friday. Imagine what kind of a feral crowd they could squeeze into the G if they put the Hawks / Geelong game on today. The dollars would be huge.
cheers

Driving north? through Dongara?
Submitted by slothwan on Fri, 2014-04-18 12:43Hi, I'm currently attempting to sail to Darwin. I need a few small parts delivered to Dongara but it's the longest long weekend and express post isn't going to get here until Wednesday at best. All that's holding me up is a particular light globe I can't get in town. Without it, I can't sail at night and a Cray boat is likely to run over me in the dark by accident (instead of just for fun).

Take Care driving
Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2014-04-18 08:52For those who are driving please take extra care and arrive safe at your destination.
I have had the misfortune to tow the car in from the Blowhole road yesterday afternoon where the young bloke was killed and again early this morning , a ute and boat of young couple heading down for their break when they cleaned up a cow not far from town. Luckily the couple and their toddler were not hurt but the car is wrecked and the boat trailer is badly damaged, they are the lucky ones when the parents of the teenager and his mates are missing a son and friend, gone for ever.

(not) Friday funnies
Submitted by Michael Yoni on Thu, 2014-04-17 15:42Since I won't have access to computer this weekend ..... I thought I would get this one posted early. (Got to thank my brother for this one
)
"Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose girl."
The priest asks, "Is that you, little Joey Pagano?"
"Yes, Father, it is."
"And who was the girl you were with?"
"I can't tell you, Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation."
"Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?"
"I cannot say."
"Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?"
"I'll never tell."
"Was it Nina Capelli?"
"I'm sorry, but I cannot name her."
"Was it Cathy Piriano?"
"My lips are sealed."
"Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?"
"Please, Father! I cannot tell you."
The priest sighs in frustration. "You're very tight lipped, and I admire that. But you've sinned and have to atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself."
Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco slides over and whispers, "What'd you get?"
"Four months vacation and five good leads..."

Expert Knowledge
Submitted by Safetyman on Thu, 2014-04-17 14:42Had my just finished restoring Penguin Phantom out in Cockburn Sound the other day when an alarm started sounding, thinking it was the overheat alarm there were a few worried minutes until it was established that the motor was not cooking itself, so headed back to the ramp at low speed with everyone within earshot hearing the alarm , at this point a bloke with "30 plus years in boats" gave me a lecture on why my motor was overheating and how he recognised the alarm from 50 metres away and how I should just throw the motor away because that particular make and model were just crap anyway.
Well dude hopefully you or one of your mates reads this this cause your full of S&*T and a moron (I counted 9 empty stubbies in your boat not including the one in yr hand).
Many thanks to Andrew at A&M Marine in Mandurah who was good enough to listen to me on the phone and not only diagnosed the problem but was good enough to tell me how to fix it.
Turns out it was the 2 stroke oil pump alarm, the pump is disconnected and I use Pre Mix, however the electrics to the pump had not been disconnected and when a new alarm buzzer was fitted it was sending a fault signal.
The moral here is Beware of dickheads trying to big note themselves and do consult genuine experts.

Dave Lee - A tribute
Submitted by sarcasm0 on Thu, 2014-04-17 14:05Just got back from a funeral for a close friend of my family who was killed in the motorbike accident on the freeway last week. Dave was a great bloke who met my parents nearly 20 years ago on a 4wd camping trip. He was a great sailor, surfer, musician and environmental scientist, father to Ollie and Jen, son of Rod and Kerry and married to Di, a friend of many. He will be greatly missed by his amazing family and all his friends and people who knew him. Rest in Peace Dave.
This is a song Dave wrote and played about the 1998 Sydney to Hobart Race, he really was an amazingly talented musician.

Xtreme products at Compleat Angler Claremont
Submitted by Xtreme Coolers on Thu, 2014-04-17 10:37Hi all.
I am very happy to announce that Compleat Angler in Nedlands is now a stockist of Xtreme Products. I must say that i was very impressed with the shop and with the products available. This is another of the quality stores we have in Perth.
Feel free to call in to the nedlands store to see what they have in stock. I dropped off a few products yesterday which included a few smaller coolers and a cryovac machine.
Now it is even easier to get into the Xtreme range.
Oceanside Tackle and Marine along with Compleat Angler in Nedlands are the best local stores to view our products.
These are stores i am proud to be a supplier of and look forward to hearing of your comments about your experiences in both these stores.
Don't forget about Dusborough outdoor Sports when you are down that way. Dave and the crew have been carrying our range for a while and you can also get down to Getway in Bentley to speak to Glenn about the cryovac machines.
Have a great Easter.
Regards
Xtreme Dave

Road Conditions
Submitted by bluemule on Thu, 2014-04-10 21:03Hi all,
We are off to Exmouth in July and want to try the Mullewa -Carnarvon road with the boat in tow to Carnarvon.
WA Roads sent me a Email to say that this road is now sealed all the way.
Has anyone used this road, and is it now sealed as they say above? Its a bit longer but we would see a bit more of the country as we travel.
Traveling from Sydney and travel up through Kalgoolie,Listener,Sandstone,Mt Magnet,Mullewa and continue through to Geraldton in the past trip. And is a great sealed main road.
Regards Jim

Graphic Designer - Looking for work.
Submitted by saltydog on Thu, 2014-04-10 13:31Just thought I'd put my feelers out there and see if anyone (or if you know of someone)
that might require the services of a Graphic Designer.
Do you, your partner or a family member run a business?
Do you work at a place that does flyers, advertise or uses a lot of business cards.
Basically anything that needs to be designed or printed.
Reason... I'm up for $4000 for my auto transmission,
plus just having lost one of my bread 'n' butter clients due to retirement
as well as other businesses not spending much anymore on advertising
I'm finding it a bit tough at the moment!
Two young kids, single income etc etc.
I have over 25 years experience in the industry plus
I can get some good prices for all your printing requirements.
You would have no doubt seen some of my work around the place....
Bluewater tackle adverts, Swan Patios, Aristocraft, Ezystorage signage, GAPerry logo, WestBin logo, IFISHIVOTE sticker . . . just to name a few.
For further details and contact info PM me or have a look here...
https://www.facebook.com/dogartdesignsperth Appreciated. cheers

Landcruiser 100 Turbo Diesel - Fitting Redarc or other VSR between batteries
Submitted by Happy Hooker on Thu, 2014-04-10 11:33Hi all
Just seeing if anyone has anyone done this to their vehicle ( ie split the two factory parallel battery system with a redarc VSR etc and installing a deep cycle/marine to run fridge etc) .
Good/ bad/ problems/cost/DIY or Auto Sparky ?
Had a look at doing it myself but there is a fair amount of wiring happening between the two batteries which I am not sure about redirecting or whatever.....
Any feedback appreciated

Advice:- with car repairs please
Submitted by psion on Thu, 2014-04-10 10:12Hi Guys
My daughter has just left school, she spent three years saving for a car, went to the bank and secured a loan for the balance and bought a 2nd hand Yaris on Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday some one jumped a stop street (also a "youngun" driving her first car) in the car park and smack the side of her car.
Now the back door is dinged slightly and both back and front door has paint smears on it from the other car.
She cant afford the excess ($1100 because she is on P plates), so I am looking for advice on how to get the paint off her door, without respraying or doing any more damage to her paintwork.
thanx
