These are a few, can anyone tell me about any real good solid vans similar to the list above that i'm missing and if you have any buying advice feel free to sling it my way...
Or even if you have one of the above thats a great model as there are soooo many feel free to give me the reasons you reckon you'd buy what you've got...
If its a well built van i dont care if its rated "4wd or offroad" i'll just go a little slower......

recommendation on a ducted evaporative air conditioner please.
Submitted by bilge rat on Thu, 2017-06-08 23:00Anyone recently installed an evaporative ducted air conditioner? Doing a reno and at the stage of selecting the air con system. Can anyone recommend a brand of ducted evaporative air conditioner? I have checked previous posts but much of the information is several years out of date and a lot can change in that time. I also don't need to be sold on the merits of evaporative versus refrigerative. I intend to run both. Evap during the day to keep the themal mass of the house down whilst running off the PV panels and split refrigerative in selective living areas if necessary. Any thoughts on your experience with a brand either positive or negative would be welcome.

AFL - the bye rounds
Submitted by randall df223 on Thu, 2017-06-08 06:23So this sort of marks the halfway point of the season.
Peoples thoughts on where your club is at?
Personally? I am happy with freo's progress. Two of our trades have fitted in really well and playing some great footy (hill and hamling). The other two are taking some time and still very inconsistent week to week. Kerstan seems to play on confidence alone.
The young kids played last year are developing well. Weller, blakely. Tucker sort of.
Fyfe will improve. A few critics just need to give him time. Sorry, not sorry. But noone can be expected to come straight back in at brownlow winning form.
All in all i didnt expect we would have six wins and be in the eight.
I am happy.

Where did we end up over WA Day?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2017-06-06 07:50So did anyone get out adventuring over the long weekend - where did you end up from where you started?
I started at Karratha and headed to Marble Bar for a frothy at the Ironclad and then found a hidden away billabong 30km from town to camp for the night. Ventured out to Woodie Woodie and Carrawine gorge and pushed through skull springs road through to Nullagine and found a nice camping spot on the Nullagine river. Never really been that far into the back country - bloody nice time of year for it.

Celebrating WA long weekend, updated
Submitted by Rob H on Sun, 2017-06-04 09:37WA long weekend.
Drive onto the beach in front of my WA house
A few k's along a WA beach
With (some) of my WA kids
Throw out the swags
Arc up a fire
Crack a coldie
Catch a WA tailor
And watch a WA sunset
Morning surf on my WA made mal with my young bloke
At a recent meeting with our Council CEO, he made a comment "I'm from the east coast, and I'm surprised your still allowed to drive on the beach over here".
The freedoms we enjoy here need to be protected into the future, whether it be fishing, coast access etc
Apathy will give it all away...

RIP John K Watts
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sun, 2017-06-04 09:34I was lucky enough to meet John in a pub that he owned back in 2001. We on a footy boys night out when all the country lads came down to the big smoke. Pretty sure one of the lads is married to his daughter and he kept the jugs flowing and sat with us telling some ripping yarns.
Larger than life character with a big heart and big laugh.

Trailer height
Submitted by gruntre69 on Tue, 2017-05-30 22:07About 90% of my trailer is going to the galvaniser tomorrow for stripping and re-galvanising. I've cut some roller brackets and welded on new conical rollers which has greatly improved the drive on ability of my trailer. I was only going to get the roller brackets done but I've decided that with surface rust starting, the whole frame is getting done.
Anyway, I pull it with a lifted 200 series and with the height of the tow ball on the cruiser, the ass end of the trailer ends up with about 90mm ground clearance. I know I could install a drop hitch which would help slightly but since I had the trailer in bits I decided to put the axles under the springs for a look.
Unfortunately the brake setup with offset axles means that to make it work the height change is a lift of 200mm giving a new clearance of around 280mm. The frame also sits level and the tow height matches the cruiser but it is higher than I really wanted to go.
Now I know I will need to drive the trailer further down the ramp (should be about 1m at Ocean Reef) to launch, the boat will tow a bit higher on the road, and other than higher storage height, but are there any other serious considerations I need to think about.
I think the shallow angle ramps will cause a problem and will mean the cruiser wheels will need to be in the water on these ramps.
Anyway, I have a few days turnaround at the galvinisers to decide whether I go with the lift or go back to the ass dragging setup I had. At least the trailer will be sparkling with new galv..
Any opinions appreciated.

I have a mix of Swibo and Global with stuffed edges
What is the best way to repair them DYI? assume it would be with wet stones but I do have a bench grinder :-)

Driver fined for not wearing Seatbelt at BoatRamp (Qld)- Interesting!
Submitted by Moking on Fri, 2017-05-26 16:41I wonder if this would apply in WA?
QUEENSLAND fisherman Nico Brand had spent a night on the Sunshine Coast’s Pumicestone Passage before an encounter with police that “flabbergasted” him.
He saw a host of police officers and Department of Transport and Main Roads officers at the public jetty next to the Power Boat Club at Golden Beach as he pulled his boat up to the pontoon on a Sunday morning in March.
He passed them as he backed his van onto the ramp, loaded his vessel then drove about 15m within the parking area before stopping to tie down his boat the Sunshine Coast Daily reports.
When a police officer approached Mr Brand and asked if there was any reason he was not wearing a seatbelt he was “dumbfounded”.
“I said ‘It’s a car park’ and she said ‘it’s not a car park, it’s a public road’,” he said.
He was fined $365 and given three demerit points, some advice on tightening and tidying his tie downs, and went on his way.
A couple of weeks later Mr Brand asked for the fine to be reviewed.
“I wanted to know where’s the fairness where you’ve backed into a waterway where the chances of rolling backwards into the water are far greater than hitting someone at 5kmh,” he said.
“Is it really fair to expect someone to put a seatbelt on when he’s on a boat ramp and comes up and parks 15m away?
“If I was really breaking the road rules why haven’t I been fined for driving with an unsecured load?”
Caloundra police officer-in-charge John Mahony said boat ramps and car parks were road-related areas so normal traffic rules and regulations applied.
“The legislation states that if the vehicle is in a forward motion on a road-related area then the seatbelt is to be worn,” Senior Sergeant Mahony said.
“You do not have to wear a seatbelt if you are reversing, however, prior to the vehicle commencing a forward motion following a reversing action you have to wear a seatbelt.
“Now at the same time obviously police quite often act with discretion and depending on the circumstances police may wish to use their discretion when making the decision to issue or not issue an infringement notice.”
He said Mr Brand’s query about why he was not fined for having an unsecured load was an example of police using discretion.
“That’s normal boat ramp etiquette; you prepare your boat prior to getting into that (ramp) area and you leave as soon as you can and go and secure your boat nearby,” he said.
Snr Sgt Mahony said high-visibility police operations, like the one in which Mr Brand was stopped, were as much about educating drivers as enforcing the law.
“It’s well documented that even low-speed traffic accidents can cause significant injuries to the driver and occupants, and the wearing of approved seatbelts significantly reduces injuries to drivers and passengers as a result of vehicle accidents,” he said.
Mr Brand has since received an answer to his review request telling him the fine was appropriate and explaining he could pay it or contest it in court.
He has not decided what to do next but said drivers should not have to wear seatbelts on boat ramps.
“Everything’s underwater and now you’ve got to climb in and put a seatbelt on?” he said.
“While you’re in the water you’d want to jump out as quick as you can if anything goes awry.”
