Borrow kayak in Carnarvon
Submitted by Xtreme Coolers on Sat, 2017-07-01 08:41Hi Gentleman
heading to Gnaraloo for the week and have lost our kayak off the roof along the way. Does anyone in Carnarvon have a kayak we could borrow to get to a moored boat to save a daily dip?? Brrrr... if so can you give us a ring on 0419 992 231?
Greatly appreciate any help and can discuss reward. And no, it wasn't me that tied it on..
cheers Dave

Roo Warning for those travelling north
Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2017-06-30 11:01Took an early morning run up and back from Denham to Carnarvon yesterday, dodged about 40 roos by the time I reached Overlander as the sun came up. There was literally over a hundred fresh carcasses on the road through from Overlander to Carnarvon so it will pay to drive extra carefully if you are travelling north for the school holidays
Another one for those heading in here to Denham, our local boys in blue are having a ball dishing out warnings and fines for those who like to sit in their boats after refuelling at the servo or IGA on the way to and from the boat ramp. They have enough to do without dishing out fines to someone who is too lazy to drive an extra car or walk to the ramp if no seats are available in the tow vehicle

Round 15 - Gabju Reaching 300
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Thu, 2017-06-29 11:17Gonna put the banter aside for a day to reflect on this little master.
In years to come we'll be telling our kids about this legend of the game the same as how my Pop talks about Toddy, Billy Walker and Hayden Bunton Jr and the way my old man talks about Cable and Matthews.
Impossible to tackle, untaggable, plays inside and wins clearances and can move outside with elite disposal and is extremely dangerous around goal.
Games - 299
Goals - 282
Brownlow - 2 ( should be 3)
All Australian - 8
Premierships - 2
The only blemish to ny mind is that I can't help but think what could have been if he stayed with Geelong.

Recent Solar Installations anyone?
Submitted by timboon on Wed, 2017-06-28 20:35Crew,
I've questioned the gurus here before about solar but because that was about 12 months or more ago and with recent power price hikes which to me is only going to continue i'm going to lock a solar system in asap.
I'm going large 6.5kw + a 5kw inverter, I guess my main reason for this is, 1 they've come down in price and 2, I'm no doubt going to be buying a storage battery in years to come...
Feel free to sway me if you think i'm barking up the wrong tree here.....
Has anyone in the past 6 months or so installed a system with someone they could recommend?
What price did you pay and how many KW?
I'm sure there would be plenty others looking into it so you're help will be widely appreciated.

Birthday time for the Quinnie
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2017-06-25 18:29Following on from my Gnaraloo post and the other post on here about a leaking Quinnie I thought I'd put this up as it's also something to look out for on the Quintrex boats. So the girl has had a hard working life and the cracks on the forward gunnel as you can see had gotten progressively worse I thought it time to strip her down and giver her a good refurb. There are also a couple of oher cracks here and there but nothing structural as I can see.
The gunnel section will be getting a repaint and just in time too as the paint bubbling had become bad around the rod holders etc. New windscreens, all new floorboards as the old one's are rotten and the new one's will be sealed properly with evadure. New carpets and new seating couretsy of Zoom. I went to the candy store errr Whitworths and came out quite a few hunge lighter with a new VHF, water separator assembly and other goodies. A very small tube of duralac for the screws and I will be greasing under the rod holders before they go down to help seal to the gunnels properly.
Drained the fuel tank today and it looks good inside from what I can see, some small particles but no water and any major crap. Will post more pics when she's done.
So thanks to photobucket all the original images are gone
But here are the latest
All the weld repairs are done, managed to find a few small cracks in the rib stiffeners but nothing major. She's all sanded down now and waiting for some dryer weather to get some primer and paint on. It's amazing the shit you find under decks when you rip everything out. No more muesli bars allowed on board, fricken wrappers everywhere under there. Hope to have some painted pics soon.

Short term boat storage on water sought
Submitted by lastcast on Wed, 2017-06-21 22:02Sportsfans
I'm planning to do a bit of work on the trailer so looking to drop the tub
into a dam or to a private inland jetty or some such for a week.
Or else if anyone is aware of a commercial place offering this.
I realise that I could pull it off but due to the nature of the work
I don't want to do that. Penguin Huntress.
Couple of slabs of VB in it.
Please don't ask for EB or tooheys as the answer may offend.

Trailcraft Trim Tabs
Submitted by zdslaugh on Tue, 2017-06-20 18:55Is anyone running trim tabs on their Trailcraft? I have a Trailcraft 5800 Trailblazer. Looks a bit hard to fit trim tabs with the transom ladder configuration since there is no clearnace between the ladder and transom. I have seen the interceptor trim tabs that look like they might work a treat. Does anyone have these interceptor trim tabs?

Shark Perception Survey
Submitted by clayd on Thu, 2017-06-15 16:55A student of Robert Brander, an Associate Professor at University of New South Wales, is studying people's perceptions of sharks based on their background and ocean usage.
Personally, i think it's the first piece of research that has the potential to move the debate forward. They'll be able to determine the perceptions toward sharks from people who do and do not use the ocean.
Here's what their aim is...
"The aim of the survey is to contribute valuable data that will help bridge the gap between policy, shark management and public opinion. We are particularly interested in how your personal background (e.g. where you grew up) and interaction with beaches and the ocean ahve influenced your perceptions of sharks."

Coral bay may 2017
Submitted by hayden on Thu, 2017-06-15 16:55Coral bay this year was one for the family and a memory for our hearts. This year was a bit harder than normal as we returned to coral bay since losing my niece a year ago to brain cancer so this year was a memory year off the great times we had in coral bay with her over the years.
fishing was a bit hit and miss at times and sharks were still in big number (cull needed) we got into some great fish with the family got my 2 nephews out a fair bit and they got into some great reds and other fish was awesome with them after what they both been through the past year. Got some great reds and my old boy got an awesome 9.5kg saddle tail catch of the trip. Did few days deep dropping nothing massive or anything that was good got sharked. Few screen shot of the sounder on here to new set up with the simrad nss12 evo 2 running a in hull m260 brilliant set up happy with how well and easy it is to use.
First trip also up this year with my daughter and hanging down at the beach with the wife and her was definitely one to remember even got her out for a fish at 1 year old was great fun
Already looking forward to next year

Renovation - builder recommendations
Submitted by bradz on Thu, 2017-06-15 11:23Hi guys
Ive got a friend who is looking to renovate an older house in North Perth. So far they have received 1 quote which on face value seems bloody high.
Can anyone recommend a builder who would undetake this type of job. You would think in this environment that builders would be able to sharpen their pencils a little.
Cheers

Final Bye Rounds - Danger, Danger!
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Wed, 2017-06-14 19:28Yes that's Patrick Dangerfield who is going to tear our midfield to shreds.
I can't see Hutch going with him and will likely take Selwood so will Shuey go head to head? Should we bother trying to shut him down? Does Simmo even have a game plan besides kick it to Kennedy and McLovin taking intercept marks?
I wonder if Partington will get a game if he wins the Sandover?
We need Darling and Lecca to fire against a young Geelong backline and with Cole and Barrass coming in I can see McLovin going forward too but the key is going to be stopping the Geelong mids kicking goals.
Too many questions not enough answers with my boys

Boat Insurance for vessels over 15 yrs for Glass boats 20 yrs for Ali
Submitted by Willlo on Tue, 2017-06-13 11:37Hi fellas , This has probably been asked before but here goes anyway. I recieved my insurance invoice the other day and it tells me i have to get the boat surveyed in order to continue insurance. Question - R there any companies about that don't require a survey for older boats. Am over these money gouging grubs and am thinking of doing away with it altogether, looking for alternatives.
