dead set slump

gee lads im in a fair old stink of a slump in regards to taking my boat out or posting on this forum.

have only hit the water once since returning from exy and would have been a while prior to that as well.

have had a few beach fishing sessions but more beers than casts hahahhaha

i havent even been following the weather or prepping the boat and gear for a day out, not sure my boat has hit water for 8 months +

seems like a mini premiership hangover after the fun i had at exy.

gotta find my mojo and get my boat back on the water either solo or find a new decky. gotta find that excitement

sat morning aus kick isnt helping matters but im okay with that

anyone else going through a form slump

Round 18 - Moore vs Darling

Seems the Pies are getting a bit cocky and told the AFL that they would like to play us at ES in rounds 18. With Pendles out it would normally be a very tough task without the only player capable of hitting a target but lucky for the Pies, West Coast can't play in Melbourne so it'lll be a walk in the park.

Wellingham won't be there to provide a step ladder for the superstar Moore this time around so Fasolo is going to have to carry the side (again) and try and kick about 18 goals. Grundy should have a field day against a side with no rucks which will be great for my Dreamteam but with no Pendles too much is going to fall to Patch Adams and the guy that looks like he should be the lead singer of a Nu Metal band, Treloar, in the middle.

West Coast by 23 and Bucks to come out and back Eddie and Eddie to come out and back Bucks.

Hawks v Freo should be entertaining... on here.

Happy Birthday Andy!

Happy Birthday to fellow FW'er and good mate Andy (sea-kem)!

May your day be filled with happiness

Your mug be filled with expensive bourbon

Your boat be filled with fish (don't forget my share! Lol)

And your night be filled with umm... things done by the missus! Lol

Have a good one mate!

Bloody wind

Dont know what its like now down in bunbury but i was down there with work today and the wind was blowing its guts out. traveled along one of the roads along the coast and it looked horrid. the water was so dirty with stirred up sand it was brown amongst the whitecaps.

windy as here in mandurah atm. just wondering if this weather is likely to bring the snapper in close for those that dare to brave it

Post Storm Fish

While sitting there in the pouring rain

For those who understand can feel the pain

Your hands and fingers are freezing and cold

Finding it hard with the rod and reel to hold

Waiting patiently for the line to start screaming

You find yourself in a daze and dreaming

You watch the end of your rod go tap tap tap.

And listen to your reel go clack clack clack

Your rod doubles over again and again

The line peels off under the strain

After fifteen minuits of time has past

Youve got that fish to the beach at last

You walk to the edgeto see your snapper

You find a ray and just yell at the top of your voice OH CRAP

Alternative Cray Pot winch

 Hi guys

looking to set up a winch and tipper for this coming cray season. Want to use a tipper as I like the idea of the working height when baiting etc. As for the Capstain winch well that's were I'm looking for something different.

Anyone have anything different? Maybe a capstan with an attachment similar to a professional Hyd winch.

Cheers

Chris

Taste of WA Video

With Saturday's crappy weather, I decided it was time to put together some video footage taken in January this year with my kids in Jurien Bay.  Even though there's no fishing, I think it will be something most of us will be able to relate to being ocean loving people.  For the record though, we did do one drift for 2 fish and then a snag and snap-off.  With a feed quickloy on board and the weather so great, decided there were better things to do.

Anyhow, i hope you enjoy youtu.be/qkiFsRiZDhM

Really hoping that my kids will be able to share this with their kids in the future. Let me know what you think.

Water in Fuel tank

So, last weekend, we had been fishing for a few hours, done a few miles and we stopped to top up the fuel tank. I only carry a 22l tank and Gerry cans if going further, as largely, we don't use more than half a tank at a time.

When topping up the tank, I noticed some crap in the bottom of the tank, almost like 'heavy' dust in the bottom of the tank sloshing back and forth. I topped the tank up headed in and agreed to take it out and clean it when we got home. Kept going without a problem and the old boy took the tank home to empty and clean it.

When he emptied it he said there was lots of water in it, and the 'dust' was rust in it. Unaware to me, the vent cap had a large crack in it allowing rain water to run down the float into the tank. God knows for how long but the motor has not missed a beat.

The motor ran fine though I am concerned that she may have inhaled a bit of water. It was running normally, not surging, not spluttering or anything along those lines. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I don't have a large external filter I can screw the cap off but in the motor housing, there is a small inline filter that I hope may have saved me.

What should I do? It will be a tomorrow job.

fresh feed of salmon

Just had a feed of fresh salmon that was caught just last night.

dont know what others feel about them but after trimming off the dark meat i portioned up 1 fillet . dusted it in flour and cooked in a bit of butter. and a squeese of lemon juice.

thoroughly enjoyed it.

what are others thoughts about the taste of them

Tig welder wanted.

 Hi Guys,

I'm after a person to do some tig welding, preferably in the Cockburn, Bibra Lake, Success area. I want to have a small stainless steel exhaust pipe welded, so it will be 3 - 4 but welds joining 25mm tube. I shall have the tube cut and prepared.

Is there anyone out there that can do it.

The welds do not have to have a pro finish, its only an exhaust pipe, and I have rods and electrodes that the person who does the job can also have, they are of no use to me now. I brought them a while ago when I had a TIG welder to use.

Western Derby #46

Derby time and Freo’s bi annual grand final. The tally stands 25-20 in favout of big brother.

Like in any family sometimes the little brother gets a bit brave and tries to take on big brother and may land a few shots before big brother has to remind him who’s boss. After a cute little run of 6 games from Freo big brother has dished out a series of hidings and Sunday is going to be no different and a nice little percentage booster for West Coast.

The new Freo cult hero Millhouse is going to find things a little more difficult this week against an actual backline and a return to form for Darling, Lecca and the return of Kennedy spells danger for Freo who are clinging to the hope that Hamling is going to get up for the game so he can watch Kennedy kick the ball over his head another 6 times.

West Coast by 80 points and Darling to win the Glendenning Medal.

Car parking near airport

Parking around the airport T4, I have to scoot over to NZ next week 9 days as both my mums been crook and oldest brother had a stroke.

What options are there good value for parking?
I know the full airport parking is pretty pricy but are there small businesses nearby doing it as well, harder to find online?

Spot Lights for 4wd

 Hi Guys

I need some new spot lights for my 4wd. Can anyone recommend a place to go in the Rockingham area. Looking for a place to supply and install.

Cheers

Bit of a cheeky question

I know this is a bit cheeky but, being new to mandurah and just investing in a tub, hopefully be in the water by august. what we are needing is somewhere to start.    Is there anyone willing to maybe give us some advice or spots up to aprox 20 nm out to try out (no im not after dhuie spots lol ) . in exchange we can pass on some spots out of rockingham or even Coral bay once i have my gps up and running.

if you wish to do so a pm would be good

Thanks in advance

Putty spray gun needed

 Willing to pay carton tax.

I've recently rebuilt the bowsprit on my boat and due to the lack of a spray gun able to spray gelcoat unthinned, I opted to brush it. The problem is that the results are very uneven and by the time it is sanded back to a factory look the gel is too thin. I have it in usable form again but I have just enough colour matched gel left to have a go at spraying it to build the thickness and hopefully result in a finish that only requires a light sand and buff and leaves me with a satisfactory gel layer thickness.

I can't find a cheap gun to purchase and don't want to spend a lot on a tool that hopefully I won't use much again.

So if anybody has a spraygun (putty gun) with a 3 to 3.5mm tip that they'd be willing to loan me, it would be greatly appreciated and I will have much acetone on hand to ensure is is cleaned as returned in the same condition.

Question for hilux people

Have got this hose hanging down on the front left corner of a hilux at work, can anyone tell me what it it. It doesnt appear to screw onto anything and the hose is maybe 8mm plastic.

Trailor brakes

Hope someone can help me out.

when it comes to trailor brakes what is the minimum requirements to get a trailor licenced that is rated for 2000kg

E.G. Drum on both axles , Disc on single  or electronic.

Also what are peoples thoughts on using led lights on the boat trailors, are they suitable or just go with the standard ones.

282 days to go! But hey who's counting....

Every April school holidays we try to get away with the kids, normally we head upto Kalbarri but this time we've decided to head a little (a lot) further north to Exmouth... we've decided to keep the boat so that will definitely be in tow!!! Can't wait to explore the inner gulf and maybe outside the reef on the western side!

Mooring Transfer

Has anyone transferred a mooring at Mangles bay?
Looks to be very complex, have to transfer boat to the moorings old owner, then transfer it back to me.
Must be an easier way?
Or am I missing something....

Weight Distribution Hitch (WDH)

G'Day Guys

There are a lot of big boats on this forum being towed by a variety of different vehicles. So a question has come up about WDH. Does anyone on this forum have a WDH arrangement fitted to their boat trailer ?

Most vehicle manufacturers recommend one but are they a legal requirement ? If you don't have one and you lose your car/boat/trailer, what will your insurers do ? Will they say it was recommended that you do but you didn't so we wont pay ?

Its a very gray area and I am yet to get a sensible answer from my insurers or vehicle licensing. Appreciate any feedback that anyone has on this as lots of people might have some exposure here.

cheers in advance

Round 16 - And Then There Were 11

Looking at the ladder we have 2 teams outside of the 8 by 1 game and another 4 teams outside by 2 games but the percentage of Gold Coast, Hawks and Freo basically puts them 3 games out unless they can start winning all their games by 10+ goals from here on in. I have 11 who have a realistic shot at making the 8 and have West Coast finishing around 6th or 7th from here. Huge game for my boys on Sunday with a swag of players coming back into contention for selection.

Of most interest is the Bulldogs and you have to go all the way to 1999 for the last time a team in Adelaide didn't make the finals the year after winning a flag and it doesn't get any easier for them play Radelaide at home on Friday night.

Interesting to read in the news that the GOAT Tyrone Vickery has been arrested for (alleged) extortion. Word on the street is that Jake King (allegedly) kidnapped Clarko's prized budgie and threatened to bore it to death talking about how many push ups he can do if he didn't give the big fella a run in the seniors.

Recycled Pallet side table

made a few weeks ago after not being able to find what we wanted, anything that did come close was $500 and above! This only set us back $60 and a few hours in the shed.... most time consuming part was sorting  and de nailing what we needed, went through 5 pallets to get The job done...
