Arapaima gigas- Dream fish for every fisherman Fishing Thailand- BKKGUY
Submitted by bkkguy on Sat, 2018-05-19 15:24Arapaima gigas was originally regarded as the only species in the genus Arapaima, The species is among the largest known freshwater fish, commonly measuring 200 cm and exceptionally reaching lengths of up to 450 cm. Adults may weigh up to 200 kg.[4] A. gigas has a streamlined body with dorsal and anal fins set well back towards the tail. While the body is mainly gray to gray-green, its Brazilian local name "pirarucu" derives from an indigenous word for "red fish", thought to refer to either the red flecks on the scales towards the tail, or the reddish-orange colour of the filleted meat.
You don't have to fly to brazil amazon rainforest to target your dream arapaima fish anymore.
Over here in the tropical climate of Thailand , we have plentiful of arapaima fishing places to fish.
One particular and rather unique place is this New Arapaima Fishing Park, strictly only for luring & fly fishing enthusiastic fisherman.
I just want to share the wonderful fishing experience my clients had while fishing at the said fishing park.
Fisherman from SG and China BKK.
Enjoys the photos and our youtube channel.

So many options in WA
Submitted by Riles on Fri, 2018-05-18 05:14The last 6 months have been a blast. There are so many options in WA.
While I haven’t managed to get out as much as I would of liked, when I have, the fishing has been second to none.
There are so many options in WA for trailerboat fisherman, from chasing demersals, pelagics, tasty crustaceans and cephalopods. I’ve managed to catch my PB snapper, dhu, as well as land my first billfish and deepdrop species on my boat.
With the water getting cooler now and my son getting older, we’ve been having a great time targeting some big squid, inshore snapper and KG’s all writhin a couple of miles from the boat ramp.
Who knows what what the next 6 months will bring. Hopefully another run up to Exmouth, possibly the Abrolhos, and hopefully fine tuning my skills with metro deep dropping!!!!

Fishing Adventure in Thailand- Giant Snakehead 2018- BKKGUY
Submitted by bkkguy on Thu, 2018-05-17 22:20It has been a while since I last shared my Thailand catch reports.
"The giant snakehead or giant mudfish (Channa micropeltes) is among the largest species in the family Channidae, capable of growing to 1.3 m (4.3 ft) in length and a weight of 20 kg (44 lb).[1] It is native to the fresh waters of Southeast Asia"
The asia anglers will consider giant snakehead (toman) the strongest freshwater fish in asia.
It can smash up any lures easily with their razor sharp teeths.
Pound for pound it give fisherman a good fights in the wild.
Here are some for our recent wild snakehead catch reports and youtube videos.
Hope you guys like & enjoy these youtube video clips.

Fishing Report
Friday 18/5/18
What great weather we have been blessed with! Anglers have been making the most of the change in weather this week, lets hope that the small swell and light winds are going to stick around for a while!
With the weather calming down and the seas settling, the ocean has opened up new opportunities for anglers this week that most have been itching for! Long runs to trench to deep drop and pelagic hotspots like the FADs have all been accessible this week and well worth the glorious day out there.
Out in the deep blue, dolphin fish have been hanging off the Rottnest FADs, and have been anything but lure shy. These acrobatics speedsters have been taking most offerings including trolled skirts to stickbaits and small poppers. Keep in mind the FADs are being pulled in soon so make the most of the weather we have got now!
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/faa4cb8a-d7fe-4a34-a188-c7429cd5d335.jpg)
Out slightly deeper and in the lower water column, anglers have been having great success deep dropping for demersals. The usual suspects like of blue eye trevalla, hapuka, grey band cod and bass grouper have been popping up all over the place and in great size. Ben Willmott made the most of last Saturday and headed out from Two Rocks, nailing a few bass grouper! Check out this horse!
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/daccec23-bdc0-46ea-b4e6-a76f4075aa3c.jpg)
In close, demersal fishing has been hot yet again for another week. If you are looking for some easy inshore fun but still want a great feed, king george whiting seem to be fishing very well too, and geez do they go great on the plate! Again with the great weather we are experienceing, anglers have been taking advantage of the great afternoon weather, and enjoying a calm sunset session after work. We are seeing a lot of great fish coming an anchored burley trail.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/a9ad2acf-6715-404d-9701-ef24551c6a50.jpg)
Snapper are also beginning to fish very well. Our local charter operators have been putting punters onto the local fishery now for a few weeks, and it wont be long until the rec anglers start their cold early morning wake ups in order to chase snapper on the inside and edge of the sound – For the time being, fish are holding on the outside of the sound. Some great catches are coming from the 5 fathom bank.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/05819398-6e91-4e32-ae46-b710bf1422f2.jpg)
The landbased snapper scene is still roaring, it just has not slowed down and we experienced another lot of bag outs this week. John and Dylan filled their bag this week easily and mentioned the use of Shorecatch baits as part of their well deserved success. An arvo session down on the sand has proved to be a relaxing and enjoyable evening for all, with Veronika showing the boys that the girls can put in some serious work!
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/41d243a8-cf57-4015-92a2-47ebdee93a5b.jpg)
Squid have been fishing better and better as the weeks go by, and if you havent done so already now is the perfect time to stock up on jigs! Squid can be fussy at times and it can seem like only one jig will work, so make sure you have a wide range of colours and sizes in your quiver.
Although the salmon have been iffy this year, they are still sitting out on the usual offshore reef systems if you want to have a shot at them. Unfortunately we haven’t seen much of them along the metro beaches this year but the odd one has been popping up for the local beach fisho. Our work experience young gun Austin had a blast with a few mates last week getting stuck into a school with stickbaits on light gear.

Golden Trevally Spotted In Swan River
Submitted by chumstain on Thu, 2018-05-03 18:07Hi everyone,
I occasionally go for a snorkel along the cliffs of rocky bay to look for mullet for bait (and sometimes lunch). And on Wednesday, I am sure I saw a single, juvenile Golden Trevally swimming naturally. I was snorkelling on the drop-off you can see in the satellite image and about 5 metres away from me I spotted the golden trevally. It was probably just over 30cms. It had the exact colouring and exact porfile of a Golden Trevally, and had distict stripes. I could not believe my eyes. I followed it for about 5 seconds until it spooked and swam down to the depths. I didnt believe myself, but I couldnt see any other explanation. I thought about it for the whole night and resarched and throughout school today and I have decided it mustve been a Golden Trevally, if not a very similar species. I have no explanations as to how it got here though... Any ideas?
I found on an australian aquarium enthusiast forum post where members talk about Golden Trevally being kept in brackish water, and actually, an aquarium store called Vebas sometimes even stocks them and puts them on display, in brackish tanks. Check it out: www.perthcichlid.com.au/forum/index.php
Also, straight ftom a wiki, i found: "In the Philippines, a population of giant trevally inhabit (and were once common in) the landlocked fresh waters of Taal Lake, and are referred to as maliputo to distinguish them from the marine variant."
I think this is pretty crazy and reminds me of when that GT that was spotted and speared south of Perth
I know there will be disbelief, but I wouldnt make this up.
Id like to hear what everyone thinks.
Tight Lines!

Fishing Report
Friday 4/5/18
If you’ve been following the Bluewater Fishing Report, you’d know about the absolutely red hot beach action that has been thrilling anglers all along the coast. Today marks 2 months of crazy shorebased fishing, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Again this week, we have seen an incredible number of mulloway and pinkies landed from the beach. Regular Mindarie customers Andrew and Brendan got stuck into some solid fish and although wouldn’t give up particular spots, did mention it was “very metro”.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/82b4e9bd-aea1-49cb-a637-59dc4a57dec0.png)
Yet again our young apprentice Austin has been out on the sand in search for mulloway and has been well rewarded for his efforts. It seems more are being caught than ever before.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/3144a766-c3a0-4df2-9968-d71293e55b21.jpg)
Further up the coast, particuarly around Yanchep and the lagoon, tailor have been going off! If you are after a bag of tailor it has been hard to miss them on dawn. For the angler that is spinning, there are definitely some bigger models cruising through and those big winter greenbacks are really starting to show up now. Want to break your pb? This winter season could be the one, and with the salmon still holding on the offshore reefs, it will be a lot easier to get a lure infront of a tailor’s face.
In the offshore world, demersals have been steady and consistent. Anglers are finding an ample feed seemingly wherever they go lately and not too many are struggling for a bag. Many anglers are having great success only a short distance from most ramps as of late, with some great sessions coming from dawn, and particuarly dusk. These late arvo sessions are producing mixed bags full of snapper and dhufish, along with the smaller reefies in between. Out much further on the FADs, mahi mahi have been playful and have proved keen to take a lure. Those who have been able to make it out there through the weather lately have had a blast mucking around with this acrobatic species. There are plenty of small football sized tuna buzzing around out there too, so if you are a fresh sashimi lover, look no further.

(Above: Staff member Tien with his first dhu)
Back through Fremantle and under the Traffic Bridge we enter the river where some great fish have been caught. The downstream Canning flats have been producing some good bream. Slow rolling hard bodies through the soft sand has proved to be a succesful method for some. The odd flathead has been popping up for anglers too, providing a welcome bycatch. If you want to mix it up, some decent prawns have been coming from the river of late, and if you are chasing the perfect feed there are always crabs around to add to the platter.

Much further South in the bream scene, great customer Ryan spent the week exploring 7 different systems in search of bream, and by the looks their lengthy efforts were well rewarded. Ryan wrote, ‘Some of the old faithful systems were totally shut down and so choked with weed we couldn't get a single cast in, so we decided to take a gamble and head out to an area that I am pretty sure has never seen a lure. Ended up finding some seriously awesome fishing in a few creeks that were literally no more than just snag filled puddles.”

(Above: Ryan with a cracker bream from his trip)
In the same region but on the saltwater side of things, some awesome fish have been coming from the stones yet again this week. Gido from Gido’s Land Based Fishing Adventures had a cracker 3 day fishing bender and landed some incredible species off the rocks. Check out his Facebook page to see action reguarly like this!

Montes 2018
Submitted by big john on Sat, 2018-04-28 11:33Well the Montes product testing trip is done and dusted. The dreaded clean up and pack away has also been done.
First of all I'd like to thank Slugger on here for the invite and pointing us in the right direction.
Few observations:
1) When jigging 3oz Bucktails around the bottom in 30+m, make sure that you are switched on when dropping them down as you often don't get a second chance to flip your bail arm over when a big trout drills them, and you into the reef.
2) Big fish eat little jigs - flicking small 1/2oz bucktails in the shallows can turn up anything, including a cracking blue bastard for the crewy. Light berley trails work a treat.
3) Jig heads for soft plastics were much more effective when they contrasted with the tail, rather than matching it.
4a) Take a heavy outfit to minimise losses when jigging plastics around the reefs in 30m+: and
4b) Make sure your jig heads come with bullet proof hooks if you are fishing them hard on 80lb braid. Mine passed with flying colours.
5) Saltwater Leadheads are a great option for fishing by leaving the rod in the holder, whilst you actively work a plastic or bucktail on a second outfit. Especially if there's a bit of boat rock.
6) Try and use the lightest jigs you can get away with, even in a quick drift. Cast forward of the boat and strip line quickly to get the jig working just above the bottom for the maximum amount of time, continually repeat the cast and strip during the drift.
7) Multi coloured braid is great for quickly stripping a jig to the desired depth.
8) Lightly weighted plastics often get smashed on the drop.
9) If fishing nylon or fluoro leaders, wind your jig back slowly. Had plenty snipped when winding them back fast.
10) Hard Head Leadheads or Spire Points fished with a strip of fish flesh (skin attached) hanging from the hook are still a deadly way of fishing.
Roll on 2019.
Here's a few pics.

Fishing Report
Friday 27/4/18
No boat, no problem! The fish are here and there is plenty of action to be had right off our metro beaches. We have had yet another seriously hot landbased fishing week and for the 7th week in a row now an unbelievable amount of mulloway and snappper have been landed. The northern beaches are fishing exceptionally well at the moment, and even anglers like our work experience gun Austin have had luck in other spots south of the river. Check out this mulloway he pulled in off the rocks at North Mole.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/f3b5cabc-63e0-4cf0-a52c-98cd18d646d1.png)
If you are wanting to get into some local lure spinning, the bigger winter tailor are starting to reguarly show up. Again the northern beaches have been producing well, and with some luck you might be looking at one of these greenback models like local customer Anthony is holding below.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/0b7db7ad-c349-4497-86e2-7384ee37149f.png)
Off the rocks at Mindarie Marina, customers have been letting us know that there is plenty of bread and butter species around. So if you’re after a simple feed or some fun with friends or family, this could be a great option under some sunny weather.
The salmon are abundant on the offshore reefs and there has been no shortage of boats around Rowboat reef and Mewstone lately. If you want to get in on some of the hot action, be prepared to squeez in between the boats!
Not far from the same area, squid have been fishing very well. Some great numbers have been coming in, and regular customers have mentioned the weed banks close to Garden Island and Carnac in part of their success.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/ba35a120-f86e-4a0d-bd91-a01662b2f4f3.jpg)
(Above: Wazza's young fella getting stuck into some squid)
Demersal fishing has been somewhat hot and cold at times lately. Some anglers have been finding it hard to fill their bag in the shallower water but with some persistence you can end up with a mixed bag like Bordy Laroux’s below. It also looks worth while dropping cray pots around the chunky reef systems close in at the moment as some customers report they are getting great numbers of good sized reds. Who can complain?
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/bdac1b44-d4c6-4305-9041-232b5081c0b6.jpg)
Out deeper the fish seem to be a lot thicker. Over the last week we have had a huge amount of some great dhueys landed. Mindarie Charters cracked their pb this week with punter Steven Hughes reeling a dhuey that tipped the scales at just over 20kg! And this wasn’t the only fish of its size for the week! Some great fish have been coming from the deeper water, particuarly the 40s and 70s.

Sandy Cape report
Submitted by Justin M on Sat, 2018-04-21 23:15G'day all, been a while since I posted here. Thought I'd just quickly share my recent trip to whats become one of my favourite destinations behind Kalbarri. Got up there Tuesday just gone for the school holidays thinking it would be busy but nope, it was an asbolute dream, plenty of spaces and was able to set up right near the main beach access. There were quite a few day trippers and groups of offroad enthusiasts coming by during the day for some fun and it seems to me to have grown in popularity since my first visit in 2015. The weather was perfect (except for Wednesdays drizzle) and only light arvo sea breezes. For those who haven't been up for a bit, the place now has a food van so if you get bored of the old instant coffee swill you bring with you can you can grab something a little better from there plus you can also get bags of ice if a ten minute drive to Jurien is too much of a bother.
The first morning was a bit discouraging as I failed to land anything and also had to call it quits due to the rain sweeping in. There was quite a bit of seaweed lurking about as well which did not help (fishing the back beach would've been an absolute chore on all but the last day) but the next day things picked up, pulling up five decent sized tailor. The following morning saw six landed, lost a couple more and the sizes got progressively bigger before todays morning shenanigans. Took my wifes friends teenage son out back for his first ever tailor adventure and whilst I was essentially landing a fish each cast, the poor sod (whose no slouch himself) kept dropping them. He finally landed a couple to take the morning tally to twelve (kept four), with one 50cm specimen, with the bite lasting longer than the previous days. Lost several horses that I just couldn't bring up over the reef even with 30 pound mono and my trusty 12ft penn. I'll land one of them one day. Plus I finally broke out the old Smiling Jacks on my spin rod and landed my first fish on a lure ever which was quite exhilarating. Got enough feed for a few days plus some fillets to provide temptation to any hungry mullas. Cheers.

Fishing Report
Friday 19/4/18
Haven’t found the motivation to get out lately? Well this week’s report has been red hot with a diverse range of species, showing us there is somewhere to go.
For the landbased anglers wanting to tick bucket list fish off their list, mulloway seem to be running better than ever before. We have had 6 weeks straight of non stop catches, with most fish packing a bit of weight to them! Many anglers have caught their first meter plus slab in the past month, and it might just be you next. The Masons fishing competition last weekend proved exactly this, with some seriously solid fish hitting the sand. A great example being local customer Alex with this ripper mulloway.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/5ab3b9f0-bb12-46b2-9538-20cca4c97c6c.png)
The bigger tailor are also starting to come in! Staff member Troy nailed some solid fish on the CID Shiversticks during the week, and it should only get better as we further into winter. With this weekends storm about to hit, a lot of the summer sand on the beaches should be pushed off, leaving some nice holes for the big greenbacks and salmon to cruise through. Now is the time to have your stickbaits and poppers on the ready!
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/91ecb82c-42be-4d23-b145-a10f15df578b.png)
(Above: Troy with a modest tailor on the CID Shiverstick)
Closer to the heart of the city, mulloway have also been caught in great numbers in the swan and canning, particuarly between the Narrows and Mosmans. Bream have reportedly been on fire lately too. We have heard from a few fish serious bream fishos that the river is thriving at the moment and you just can’t miss. With the rain we have had of late the fish will be pushing downstream and chasing the salt, so fish the lower reaches of the system to put yourself in a key position.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/8880afed-3f0e-4a66-a8fd-d1e74798aaef.jpg)
(Above: Staff member Pete Berlinski and his usual topwater bream antics)
Out to sea, squid numbers have been increasing with some bigger sizes too. South mole has been producing great numbers, and with winter fast approaching we should see some great catches coming from both the boaties and landbased anglers.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/45996342-7b8c-4053-9fe0-4d6d2308f810.jpg)
(Above: Phi with a beautiful squid caught off Woodman point)
In terms of demersals, snapper season is also on its way. Some good catches of snapper on the 5 fathom have been coming in. It will not be long until we see aanglers hitting them consistently in the sound on dusk and dawn. Get ready for the early wake ups and cold breeze, it should be a cracker season.
Fish are still holding tight onto the shelf, if you are after a great mixed bag try the 70’s, however if you are wanting to fish the shallower water and are looking for an alternative, some great numbers of king george whiting have been coming from as shallow as 8m. Regular customer Clayton filled his bag limit with ease just recently.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/3f8f3d78-01de-4746-a058-79a13eb44987.jpg)
(Above: Jazz charters putting some youngin's onto some great metro pinkies)
The salmon have been off to a somewhat slow start for the landbased anglers, however they are holding on the offshore reefs. Staff member Ando and Dan went out and just could not miss. Luke from the Myaree store was also out yesterday and had a blast getting stuck into some salmon on stickbaits with some great weather.
![](https://gallery.mailchimp.com/1cf0d02164495cebc2062e2a4/images/ecab78e8-497b-425f-b48b-e4a548a79061.jpg)
(Above: Staff member Ando with a perfect example of what is hanging at the offshore reefs lately)
More noticably, there has been some hot pelagic action, particuarly yellowfin tuna. Yellowfin have been popping up here, there and everywhere lately, with some being caught on the back of the 5 fathom bank and on the south side of Rotto, as well as a few in Jurien. Dylan Picken played with some decent fish up to 23kg on 8kg line in triple hook ups last weekend in the Perth Game Fishing Club Shimano WA Open 2018.

Bluewater Tackle Fishing Report 13/4/18
Submitted by Bluewater on Fri, 2018-04-13 15:08Fishing Report
Friday 13/4/18
As we ease off the back of summer, another week has passed in which we still wait for salmon. But do not fear, they will be here! Whispers of salmon behind the 3 mile have been making the rounds like highschool rumours, so it shouldn’t be long before they start to show up on the metro beaches.
There is still plenty of demersal action to be had in the deeper water. The weather has been great providing plenty of opportunity to get amongst it. Some reasonable fish have been landed closer in around the three mile and five fathom bank, however anglers have reported lots of coral spawn and dirty water in the shallows. If you are in a small boat or not willing to travel the distance, you may need to persist through the day in search for your bag limit in the shallower water. Deep, or atleast in the clean water is the place to be if you can get there.

Closer in, squid have been fishing well, but again, finding the clear water is vital. For the landbased fishos, hotspots like South Mole and Woodies have been producing pretty decent numbers lately.
For those who have figured it out, some good catches of snapper have been coming from within the Cockburn Sound but the fishing can be iffy. A strong but fine berley trail on dusk or dawn will definitely put you ahead of the game.
Yet again this week some great fish have been landed off the stones in our South West. More reports of reasonably sized blue grouper have come in and also some seriously big kings. Check out this horse of a yellowtail kingy on stickbait from Jamie Thompson!

Mulloway to a meter have been caught between Quinns and Two Rocks, with the odd chopper tailor in the mix. The northern beaches have been seriously consistent for the past month now, and are well worth a shot if you are in search of a silvery slab. It wont be long until the big green backs beging patrolling the northern beaches, so now is a great time to jump in store and get a few new stickbaits and poppers ready.
Inside the river, the bream have been particuarly active on dusk and dawn in our rivers. Anglers like staff member Pete Berlinski have been having a ball in these low light periods with top water lures and hardbody minnows like this Zipbait Kahmsin Tiny.

Are you getting away these school holidays? Or just getting stuck into the salmon. We have a huge range of gear that has just been topped up, not to mention all of the lures and bait ready to go for whatever you might be doing. If you’re heading away, make Bluewater Tackle your first stop!

Steep Point 23rd_28th April 2018
Submitted by Jenkos on Mon, 2018-04-09 11:44Hi
We are heading to Steep Point ( Blackies West ) on the week of the 23rd April via Boat from Denham this year
This is our 8th Year in a row, such a world class fishing destination, unfortunately one of our boating parties had to pull the pin so we are solo, which is all cool
Just reaching out if anyone on the forum is also going to be around Shelter Bay in a boat that week at this time, say G'day
We are in a Boston Whaler 255 Conquest, Call Sign/Rego| DT406 Elite | New boat this year from the Gemini Rib in years gone past
Some random Pics to get the forth on
It is amazing the variety we have had in the years too, but also the increase in sharks out wide. but more so the relatively new resident bullshark in close in Shelter Bay and the southern side of Dirk H, makes for getting Crays and swimming to the boat a fair bit quicker....

29.2kg Metro Spanish Mackerel
Submitted by Mick C on Sun, 2018-04-08 15:21Fished the MAAC comp yesterday with the daughter in what were atrocious conditions in my small boat. It actually became dangerous mid to late morning and we had no other choice but to come in early. Nice work weather forecasters!
The catches for the day were generally down on normal, EXCEPT Dave’s massive mackerel. In a combination of skill and luck Dave landed the fish on a snelled mono rig where the top hook had set in the corner of the jaw. Apparently, the first run was very close to spooling him too.
The fish was an absolute beast in real life and the photos don’t really do it justice. Well done Dave for a truly momentous metropolitan capture.

Hard day on the water until dhuie o clock
Submitted by sunshine on Fri, 2018-04-06 17:24Thank goodness for retirement as today gave a real opportunity to enjoy what has been really scarce good conditions. Launched well before dawn and to the moron who went out with NO lights whatsoever honestly FFS.....you were invisible ! I headed out initially to the high 30's but bites were really scarce apart from a good KGW and some fox fish very little doing. The wind dropped to nothing making drifting impossible so I headed out deeper and simply sounded until I found a good show....actually the screen lit up ......dropped three baits all of which were monstered within seconds.....what to do when you are by yourself, took what I thought was the biggest expecting a good dhuie but pulled up a stonka baldie, second rod going ape so fought that fish to the surface , a good dhuie around 8kg but the final rod was now bent double making it hard to get out of the rod holder, now this was a fish, deep surging runs with strong tail beats.......a male fish over 94cm so the smaller one went back and swam away strongly. Came home at 26 Knots @ a nautical mile to the litre....just love the yammy!

Easter Weekend fishing
Submitted by gdupagne on Tue, 2018-04-03 10:37Started off good Friday taking the kids out for a squid session in Cockburn sound. fished one of our usual spots alongside G.I with only 1 squid in about 6 drifts. we moved to another spot near the causeway which resulted in 3 good size squid in 2 drifts. this included my eldest son getting his first squid.
Sunday was spent at whitehills with the family and managed to get in a sneaky fish before the sea breeze. 6 good size herring in less than an hour.
Monday was time for me to have fun. Left point Perron ramp around 6.00am headed to the 40's. the easterly was gusting and the chop was pretty rough. first couple of spots nothing and the days was looking bleak. we headed to the 3rd spot of the day and first drop landed a sea sweep. Second drop resulted in the first sized Dhui for the new boat. the mood shifted dramatically on board. Next drift 2 blackarse. esky was looking much better now. 3rd drift resulted in a nice Baldy. happy with the mixed bag and sea breeze immanent we headed home.

Exmouth 2018 done and dusted
Submitted by Deleted on Mon, 2018-04-02 11:11Well thats exmouth for 2018.
Tough time with the southwesterly winds this year and a swell that was breaking across the north chanel on the first day making us turn for home. We lost a couple of days to wind but turned those into beer days
With the winds up making trolling for bills to uncomfortable, deep dropping was the next plan and we did well. Loading our freezers with our limit of ruby and 8 bar fillets made this a great trip none the less. Minimal issues with sharks made life easy.
Still managed to raise a handful of small black marlin and chrisG getting to issue his first tag on a acrobatic little rat marlin was a plus.
Make sure you hit up mick and the boys at shore catch for quality bait, we had ordered some squid for this trip and man they were huge ruby lollies. We tried herring for first time this year and the 8 bar demolished them. Thanks again mick callum and hutch.
If your looking for accommodation close to tantabiddi ramp then i suggest yardie homestead. The new managers have got the place looking great and enjoy a beer. Being 2min from the ramp is huge bonus
Not a great amount of photos and funny how water looks calm in these pics.
Already planning nexts year trip

Submitted by KenTse on Sat, 2018-03-31 11:22Being a teacher has its perks. Recently, we had a week of school holidays in March. I found some cheap flights to the Canary Islands and decided to spend 7 days there. We started with 4 days on Fuerteventura followed by 3 days on Tenerife.
I haven't had time to write the blog yet...I just managed to edit the pics and upload them onto the blog. Maybe I can work on the writing on Easter Sunday.
Let's start off with a bang with some panoramic views...

Did you expect me to go anywhere without catching some new species? There was a bit of overlap in species with the Mediterranean, so it wouldn't exactly be easy to do well on with a large number of new species in the Canaries. However, with a bit of determination, I did catch 21 new species :)
