The Right Way to Vacuum Seal Fish
Submitted by Alan James on Wed, 2020-11-11 12:42I came across this on another fishing forum and thought it may be of interest to some. It clearly has US origins but that shouldn't be an issue.

pothauler with integrated capstan winch vs pot tipper + capstan winch
Submitted by chevaps on Tue, 2020-11-10 12:44Hi all.
Planning on getting into some crays once i relocate back to Perth in a few weeks, and need to sort out some pot lifting gear on the boat.
Interested in hearing people's thoughts on a pothauler with integrated capstan winch vs pot tipper + capstan winch as separate items. Particularly keen on hearing personal experiences from people that have used both.
After making a few enquries, the pothauler option is the more expensive option by a long shot, so the way i see it, i will be paying for the convenience of a more compact and portable solution (i.e. far smaller, weighs less, removable winch).
Look forward to hearing back.
Thanks.
Tom.

Mandurah Accommodation with Jetty Tips
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Mon, 2020-11-09 10:11Has anyone got a tip on waterfront stay in Mandurah with a private jetty to take the family away for a few days? Somewhere around Halls Head where the kids can scoot to the IGA would be ideal and not really interested in staying on the Murray/Serpi.

Dropping a GoPro into fish marks and lumps
Submitted by Seahorse7 on Fri, 2020-11-06 08:05Anyone dropped a GoPro down to fish marks and lumps? Any ideas on how to rig it up ? I was thinking it would need a fin on the back to stop it spinning around in circles, and be weighted a bit.

Gme gx700 vhf issue
Submitted by TerriblePaulzy on Mon, 2020-11-02 17:33Hey guys
Im having an issue with my gme gcom gx700 vhf. When I try to use the radio it comes up with the busy icon. Has anybody else had this drama? I can’t find anything on the net or looking through the manual so here I am. I’ve just put a new antenna on there as the old ones wiring looked dodgy and the unit itself would be around 12 months old. Any help would be much appreciated
thanks
Paul

Ice makers
Submitted by Goodz on Sun, 2020-11-01 16:48Hey guys,
just wondering if anyone has bought a dedicated ice maker for drinks/esky filling and has as recommendations.
Lots of different ones online, production and storage capacity varies so much. Wanting to be able to take it away on fishing holidays so not sure of how the water filling situation would work too, some with small water reservoirs and others with mains water connections.
any advice? cheers!

Early Sailfish cat hulls.. Any good??
Submitted by Andy82 on Sat, 2020-10-31 09:25Hey all
Just wondering if anyone has any experience good or bad with the early model Sailfish cats (Pre 2006).
I have heard all sorts of opinions from a number of people already but nothing from anyone who has either owned or knew someone who owned one.
Again this is only for the early hulls not the new Gen 3's which I know are pretty impressive but unfortunately I don't quite have the bank account to match.

ebay
Submitted by anypuddle on Thu, 2020-10-29 09:01Gday fishwrecked.
Just a word of warning about purchasing on eBay.
I put a largish order in for rod holders, squid jigs, hooks,a fishing shirt for my wife etc.
Got a postie note saying collect your package from the post office, ok so wife goes, signs for the package and brings it home. I opened it to find a small skirted lure that I dont remember ordering. Anyway another "late night" ebay purchase i presume.
Weeks go by and I ask the seller where's my order?. They reply you have it you signed for it. Ive sent 100 messages explaining my wife signed for a little lure that I didn't order and have sent photos in etc.
Point of the story is they sent a tiny item to get the postal tracking signed for and have not sent the real items. The return i opened on eBay has now closed.
Buyer beware.
Cheers anypuddle.

catching occys
Submitted by Mack1 on Tue, 2020-10-27 17:30I started occy fishing a couple of months ago. Not done it before. I have 5 of the square commercial black weighted pots on a 20m length of rope that is weighted each end. In 5 pulls each 2 weeks, I have only got 1 occy. I am in 4m of water in Warnbro in brocken weed/sand. Any hints on improving the catch rate would be appreciated.
