Sunday: NE winds 13/18 knots, easing to 8/13 knots early afternoon and becoming variable 5/10 knots for a period mid afternoon to early evening.
Think we are headed out on Sunday, but not exactly sure what the plan is yet.

Billfish handling
Submitted by Gully on Fri, 2006-06-02 07:23Ok now I expect this topic to get some interesting replies so here goes.
The question is why do people find it neccessary to heave billfish up over the side of the boat just for the purpose of a photo. What is wrong with hanging onto the bill of the fish in the water and taking the photo like that?
Granted it wont look quite as good but is a hell of a lot better for the fishes survival chances. Heaving large awkward fish like that over the side of the vessel then up on someones lap/side of the vessel cant help the buggers at all but probably does some bad damage to them we dont know about yet let alone wipe the protective slime off them we all have heard about.
Righto folks thats my opinion and feel free to add yours but remember Im not having a stab at anyone just putting my preffered method across. I just think they are to nice of an animal and deserve every increase in survival rates they can get and if that means sacrificing the photo then who cares.

Fishing Ideas
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2006-05-31 19:21Heading out tomorrow morning as the easterly is forecasted to be light. Going from Woodies point with Tapout in his 18fter. Don't suppose anyone has been out from that way lately and got any pointers. Probably looking to head to the 5 or back of the 5. Heard there have been some big spanish macks caught around Rotto, but its so hit and miss it's hardly worth it so might just try bottom bounce and berlery up. Guess we'll just look for some cray pots, will take the camera just in case we got onto something. If you've got any better ideas of where the fish are I'd love to hear them.. :))))
Cheers,
Adam

Richter Lures Photo Competition - HUGE prize
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Sun, 2006-05-28 09:37Mark Richter from Richter Lures has given fishwrecked.com members an opportunity to win a $500 lure pack for the best photo or video which demonstrates his product catching fish over the next three months.
You can either enter the competition by uploading the photo's onto the site, by emailing me, or sending the videos to:
Adam Gallash
80 Evandale St
Floreat, Perth WA 6014
adam@fishwrecked.com.
Mark will decide who the winner is and which photo's he wishes to use for future promotions and publications.
Don't be shy to try in the metro area either, there has been some solid yellowfin tuna landed lately and you could see your tackle box overflow with a range of quality Richter lures. I hope this gives you all some incentive to get out there amongst them.
I will post up a few more example photo's once I've scanned them.
Tight lines, look foward to seeing some great shots.
Cheers,
Adam

Weekend Weather Forecast
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Fri, 2006-05-26 08:39Perth Metropolitan -
Saturday: NE winds 13/18 knots, easing to 8/13 knots for a period in the afternoon and early evening. Seas to 1.0m. Swell to 1.5m.
Sunday: NE winds 15/20 knots tending N/NW 15/25 knots during the afternoon.
Looks like it is going to be another weekend of strong and uncomfortable northerlies. To counter for this I'm headed down to Walpole for the weekend to try and get offshore on a mates boat. With the light 8/13 knot afternoon forecast and the northerly being an offshore, I'm hoping theres the possibility of tangling with some monsters from the deep. Will take the camera just in case. :))
Hope you all have a great weekend and manage to get into some fish.
Tight lines,
Adam

Mack Tuna
Submitted by jay_burgess on Fri, 2006-05-19 22:35Adam, I've got some footage from Dampier of a reasonable sized mack tuna I got recently on my barra gear. It is in .mov (quicktime) format so you might need to convert it for use with movie maker. I can send it to you if your interested (approx 169mb might need to post it on a CD).

Weekends Fishing Forecast
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Fri, 2006-05-19 08:03Saturday: E/NE winds 15/20 knots, easing S/SE 10/15 knots for a period mid afternoon to early evening. Seas 1.0m to 1.5m. Swell to 2.0m.
Sunday: NE winds 18/23 knots, easing to 10/15 knots for a period mid afternoon to early evening.
Looks like its going to be a bit hairy on the water over the weekend.
I think we are planning to go out late morning Sunday and head wide to a few spots we haven't tried in a while.
Hope you manage to get out over the weekend and into some fish.
Have a good one,

New Forums
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2006-05-16 13:40I have started two new forums :
Fishing Discussion :
Fishing Tackle Recommendations - Discounts
Discounts and Tackle Specials, Reviews, Recommendations
General Discussion :
Holidays - Fishing Trips
So where's your destination?
The boys at Oceanside are planning some tackle reviews and will be dropping in with specials and discounts for members from time to time, keep a close eye or you'll miss out on saving $$$ on your fishing gear.
With a lot of new fishwrecked members from a range of fishing hotspots over Australia and now the world, there is a great opportunity for new fishing friendships to be made. If your planning a trip away, post it up, you never know who might be reading and be able to give you that inside fishing knowledge, or catch up for a beer and a chat when you arrive at your destination of choice.
Its entirely up to you, but sometimes its good to have a 2nd boat at a new fishing spot when learning the grounds. I know for one that we are off to Exmouth at the start of July for 2 weeks, and Shizz is up there later, Mitch, Andy and the Pilbara Pirates are off to Coral Bay not long after.
Should be some cracking fishing stories, photos and videos to come soon.. So where's your destination?
Weekend's Fishing - 13th-14th May
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Fri, 2006-05-12 07:59Saturday: NE winds 13/18 knots, tending variable to 10 knots inshore mid-afternoon then becoming NE 10/15 knots throughout during the evening.
Seas to 1.2m. Swell to 1.5m easing to around 1.0m.
Sunday: N/NE winds 13/18 knots tending NW'ly 13/18 knots in the afternoon.
Looks like it might be a bit rough on the seas over the weekend, those terrible northerlies make it rather uncomfortable out there.
Our skippers having a weekend off fishing, so the v8 supercars are going to be Sundays entertainment.
Forecasted for 30 degrees tomorrow, should be a great day out. Anyone got any fishing plans?
Enjoy your weekend all! :)
Cheers,
Adam

Your Favourite Combo
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2006-05-10 16:28Just wondering what everyone's favourite rod/reel combo is? The one that caught that fish of the lifetime, the one thats stood the test of time? The one that didn't cost much but still did the job an expensive combo did?
Mine would have to be my Spheros 12000fa matched to an Ian Miller 15-24kg T-curve Jig Stick. Theres just something about a light short stick and hearing the screaming of the drag on those big sambo's that does it for me.
So whats your favourite?

WA State Records...or absence of them lately????
Submitted by Andy Mac on Fri, 2006-05-05 21:55http://www.aaawa.iinet.net.au/StateFishingRecords.html#_W
Has any of you noticed something bloody obvious about all these records and that is the distinct lack of anything caught that is bigger than what was caught in the 1980's. I think there are only a couple of records set since 2000 so what does that say for the state of our local fishery when we now have arguably better catching equipment and more of us fishing.
One to add to your list of things to ponder.
I'be taken to printing out a list and carrying it on the boat with me, you never know that next wrasse you catch might be a state record.
Cheers

Weekends Fishing Plans - 6-7th May
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Fri, 2006-05-05 14:27Metropolitan Forecast:
Saturday: S/SW winds 13/18 knots. Seas to 1.0m. Swell to 1.5m.
Sunday: E/NE winds 5/10 knots tending S'ly 10/15 knots in the afternoon.
The weekends reports don't look to special for Saturday, but Sunday looks like an absolute pearler. Not sure on what our plans are, have heard a few reports of dhufish moving into 40m's with a few really good sized ones landed.
Theres also a few reports of rat sambo's down on the 3 mile anywhere between Hale Rd and Swanbourne drain, with the likely bycatch of skippy or salmon. I dropped a thumper of a king george down there last week and also returned a small dhuie. Just never know what you might get down there, hopefully won't be too long before the pinks move in.
Salmon reports are still pretty sketchy, sounds like theres lots still out there if your looking in the right places. Which we obviously weren't last weekend, best of luck if you are targetting them this weekend.
Don't drink too much with the derby on Saturday, Sunday's looking the goods and you will kick yourself if you don't get out there. If you've got some fishing plans, love to hear them, if not, look foward to hearing or seeing the results. :)
Hope you all manage to get out on the weekend and into some fish. Will hopefully get some pictures and footage of the weekends action.
Tight lines crew,
Adam

Design a lure!
Submitted by Fly on Wed, 2006-05-03 22:25Ok what features, would you like to see in a lure that you can't already get now in one of your favourite lures?
Can be for soft plastics or hard body plastics, trolling or casting or both etc!
I'm giving serious thought to designing a new lure range!!
Looking for ideas of what anglers want!
Glow in the dark paint? (Charge with camera Flash and troll at night??)
Contrast?
Rattles?
Interchangeable bibs?
Catch scent chamber?
Infrared and ultraviolette LED's inside?
EAL sound emitter?
Jet head?
12 knots speed capability?
Hit me with ideas folks - you just never know, you might see a lure or two come your way incorporating your own idea! ;o)
Cheers!

Cant catch crays? Try This!
Submitted by SHizz on Wed, 2006-05-03 21:55http://www3.tky.3web.ne.jp/~edjacob/vending.html

This bizarre game was found in a video arcade in Sapporo and sent in by Tom Krolak. It's based on the popular UFO Catcher games and you have to manoeuvre the yellow claw to try and grab one of the lobsters. It costs 100 yen for one try or 500 yen for six.

Submitted by Andy Mac on Wed, 2006-05-03 17:09Got my copy of May's edition of the FWA mag this arvo and low and behold they published my first article. (Woo-Hoo!)
Hey Flywest, do you want to be my agent? (Hahahaha)
Seriously mate, thanks for the encouragement to actually do it (nowhere near Steve Starling quality though) but I certainly enjoyed the process and the thrill of getting published. Any other budding writers should give it a go, though I do warn you that you won't be giving up your day job.

Engel Swan Bream Classic
Submitted by SHizz on Sun, 2006-04-30 17:12Aloha,
Just got back from the Engel swan bream classic, what a hard slog it was today! Luckily i wasnt the only one haha we only ended up weighing in 1 fish and we(Team Tackle Shack) still came 7 out of 55 to give you an idea! Alltho it wasnt my fish it was also the 2nd biggest bream caught.
First place went to team WAFM with the biggest fish being 1.31kg from memory caught under the narrows. Unfortunatly the 3 bream i landed today were all just under legal and were not "strechable" heh
Weekend Fishing Plans

Sunday: S/SE winds 10 knots tending S/SW 10/15 knots in the afternoon.
Anyone got any fishing plans over the weekend? Think we are heading over to Rotto tomorrow to West End for some more salmon action and maybe a bottom bounce.
Looks like a great weekend to get out amongst it, tight lines crew.

Accolades to Fisheries WA Dept
Submitted by Fly on Wed, 2006-04-26 11:39Anyone follows my internet rantings would know I am one of the most harsh public critics of Fisheries WA Dept anywhere!
That said, when they do something good or worthy of positive comment - I feel it is only fair to give credit where it's due!
I can think of TWO instances of late where Fisheries have actually done something good!
One of my frequent lamentations has been in the area of Charter fishing statistical returns!

Easter Photos
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Tue, 2006-04-25 14:16I have just got a hold of the Easter photos. Make sure you check out the fishwrecked and scenery gallery, some really good shots amongst them. I would put them in a forum thread but there are a few too many. There are a few snaps of my queen snapper, first tagged and released samsonfish, the days catch, surf and scenery photos. Hope you enjoy.
Cheers,
Adam
Here's a teaser. A reminder of catching most of the fish that day. :)
