Elactric outboard battery
Submitted by Fathom on Fri, 2022-04-08 20:36I bought a watersnake electric motor for my kayak, all I want is reverse (drag) to stop being dragged out to sea or into the mangroves , even little catfish have towed me into the unknowns, let alone 30 kg Northern Mulloway......can be fun....can turn into a nightmare with tides, crocs, sharks etc. real fast.
I need a battery, manufacture (Jarvis walker) says never go lithium, too many volts will cook the motor? Lots of videos on youtube showing blokes "testing" the motors but can't seem to find many that are still using the motors? They BBQ"d them? I dunno
So.....is anyone out there running a watersnake on Lithium batteries?
OH.... Department of transport reqiures my kayak to be registered now, I need to get a HIN, proof of ownership, serial # of motor......FFS

No Bait No Lures Needed
Submitted by Tom M on Thu, 2022-04-07 11:25People working on solutions to catching and eating fish. While I still fish for enjoyment and catching fish is a bonus there looks to be a new alternative to creating a new type of fish.

Broome Lures - Baramundi, Threadfin & Mangrove Jack
Submitted by br3nno on Wed, 2022-04-06 15:43Hi all,
Will be targeting the listed species. Mostly off the beach, and some around the mangroves.
What does everyone recommend!
Personally I like using hard bodies and metals.
I was thinking of just using tailor lures for the beach and the threadfin salmon.
Cheers

Seakem JNT hooks size 18
Submitted by little johnny on Mon, 2022-04-04 20:03Vs Tainawa mustard hooks . JNT have wider gap they cost $12 to $14 bucks per hundred. From Taylor’s marine . What we used when I fished with my son on pro boat around Abrolhos islands to Kalbarri. They caught everything from big tigers . Reds. Pinks , coral trout . Even that small marlin I put up years ago .and that huge Queensland gropper . Unreal local for dhues down to kgs . Cheap as chips . Invincible . Skipper was using singles .( big hanging baits ) whole calli squid with whole small fish over the top . Ruby’s and cod in deep water .excellent hook rate . I was using them double snell. Don’t know how to put pic on your post .

West Coast Demersal Scalefish Questionnaire
Submitted by wagyl on Mon, 2022-04-04 18:20I have just read Recfishwest's questionaire, and it gives you multiple choice questions that you must answer to submit the survey. It does not give you options to accept none of these alternatives, and blindly accepts the goverment and fisheries assumptions that there is a need to reduce the catch. I would be happy to support a reduction if I believed or was convinced there was a problem. In their previous report Fisheries said stocks were recovering well and there is no need for further action. In the latest report the same scientists using the same data working for the same department decide that there is now a problem. Were they correct last year or this year, it can only be one of the two. Which proves their science is crap.
The survey is biased as you must choose an undesirable option. Recfishwest should be ashamed for blindly accepting the fisheries report without any investigation. I guess the goverment grants them the funds so they must agree???

Abrolhos Island Red Emperor
Submitted by Piggy on Mon, 2022-04-04 12:53Fishos
Planning to do a sneaky Abrolhos island trip for a couple of nights probably around May. Have another Mackeral Islands trip planned later in the year so this Abrolhos trip will be just to get away for a couple of days. We have been over a fair few times staying at the middle island group. Over the years we have had plenty of luck on the trout, baldies and dhuies, but I wanted to ask whether many of you on here have cought Red Emperor out off there? We have never caught one nor seen one caught there. A quick search on the search bar Ive found limited info with a few people saying they caught them on charters. Anyway if anyone has caught them off there and can give me an indication on depth it would be much appreciated.
Pic of the bombies we were fishing last time we were there...... Amazing place!!
Cheers

Boat seat
Submitted by C.P on Sun, 2022-04-03 17:09Hi all, Im hoping someone can provide some advice
I dont have the drivers side seat installed as it only gets in the way. The passenger side seat became stuck and would not budge at all. Normally the seat can be taken out or turned around to the required position.
I had to cut it off and cut inside the shaft to get it out because i needed to get the floor boards out. You can see from the pic i cut too far and cut into the pvc housing. Hopefully that wont matter.
So now i want to install the other seat back into the passenger side but the shaft still wont fit back in. It seems the plastic has expanded or whatever, i dont know but it wont fit. So can pvc be filed or sanded? Would be difficult to sand inside the pvc pipe. What do you suggest .

Dont Take Our Fishing Freedom - Sign the Petition Have your Say
Submitted by Jenkos on Thu, 2022-03-31 16:29
Just Sharing, surely a better way than just believing West Coast Demersal Scalefish Resource (WCDSR) Harvest Strategy Reference Groups recommendations immediately being a 50% reduction.
Our WA's great fishing community who the vast majority 99% do the right thing to date and will contiune to do so demand better research and better data presented for consideration.
Penalising Recreational Fishers is not the answer to sustainable fishing so many factors are at play including but not limited too, commercial, increase shark populations, environmental considerations etc.
cheers Adam for sharing !

interstate boat transport advice
Submitted by rac on Sun, 2022-03-27 15:34
Hey guys, I want to bring a 5.4m boat over from Vic to Perth. It's on a trailer but I dont know if I trust the bearings for a trip like that.
On the trailer overall length is ~7.1m, 2.2m wide, I'm guessing something like 1400kg all up. Can anyone recommend trucking companies to reach to and get a quote for somthing like this?
thanks.

Submitted by saltyseamen on Thu, 2022-03-24 20:55Hi all,
I was chasing some info on splicing tm185 10 pin furuno transducer to a 7 pin Simrad adapter.
Is this doable and is it as easy as just soldering the same colour wires together.
I can't seem to find a 10 pin adapter that runs to a 7 pin simrad/ lowrance on the internet.

Submitted by Cracker Fish on Tue, 2022-03-22 15:32Hi folks,
I have a Curado 150 HG and a Curado 200 HG reel and looking to match to two rods around the 6-12 kg for flicking lures off a boat for barra etc. People talk about a Shimano T-Curve and others but I looking for real life wisdom and experience. Would one rod rigged with 25 lb braid and one with 30lb braid be silly? Thannk you. Richard

Monkey Mia
Submitted by Sully on Sun, 2022-03-20 10:50Hi guys, heading up to Monkey Mia early May with the missus and my 6 year old twin boys will be taking 6m boat. never fished the area before and know the pinky ban will be on. Not looking for anyones marks or anything but just chasing a bit of direction off anyone who has fished the area before. Have had a bit of a look at the charts seems shallow threw most. Iam I best sounding the interesting looking contour lines that are on charts or best trying to find lumps in the flatter areas? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as kids don't really find it that much fun driving around trying to find lumps holding fish
