Fishing out fromBunbury
Submitted by stoneFISH2 on Fri, 2022-02-04 13:02Hey guys we are moving down to Bunbury and as I have never fished down there, what is it like and how far do you need to go to get a decent dhuefish or snapper. We have a 5.3m with a 145ltre tank.
Cheers :)

Mmmmm bread.
Submitted by Silver Fox on Fri, 2022-02-04 09:15I know it's not fishing related ( unless it's a fish Sammie ) yet seldom is the weather good enough up here to be out fishing every day. Having no decent bread available on the Island and a bun load of spare time I thought I'd have a red hot go at making my own. It's been an interesting journey making making a sourdough starter ( Pierre is his name you have to give em a name according to the sourdough fraternity) and trying to make a decent loaf. After a good nine months of trial and error I'm starting to bang out some good bread. Drool on gentlemen, drool on!.

Where to go with 4.1m boat
Submitted by DunkerT on Tue, 2022-02-01 20:16Evening all!
Been a long long time since I was last on here! My old boat was sold many moons ago and I've finally bought a new one. Although I have significantly downsized due to room on the driveway.
I've now got myself a 4.1m polycraft side console. Picking it up on Friday, and can't wait!
My question is - what would you guys recommend with a boat of this size. I'm thinking crabbing in the Swan, soft bait for flathead around the flats in the river, and aiming for squid just out of Freo on a good day. Maybe heading out into Cockburn Sound on a good day.
Are there any other options for a boat of this size?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Two Rocks fishing dash.
Submitted by Puku on Tue, 2022-01-25 08:58Gooday All
I was offered a chance to jump on board the boat with the MACKDOG Tackle lads this past week, just out off Two Rocks where the idea was to put the new Mackdog Underdog jigs to the test.
It was the first time using the Hybrid style jigs and they did not dissapoint.
A good start with a 53cm Dhu and a size Baldie on the first drop, things slowed a little as the heat rose, however on finding a lump with signs we we then able to lift 3 decent size Breaksea Cod with the largest measuring 52cm a really nice fish indeed.
Another decent size Baldie was added to the keep and the day was done with a really nice bag.
The various colour Makdog Underdog Jigs worked a treat with the Pink and Purple being the most effective on undersize snapper and Dhus, and even a 6ft Shark.
Feel free to contact mackdog tackle at https://www.mackdogtackle.com.au - support local lads...
On the return trip a the most amazing event took place - you would not belive it if we didnt have the proof - a fair sze flying fish "flew" through the starboard side window (at about 25knts) of the boat maybe 30cm x 45cm straight into the cockpit past the skip and hit the port side window in the cab and ended up in the bucket behind the passnger seat, I was standing in the middle and saw it unfold we were amazed and I picked it up and released it with a short flight. It was a amazing event to have witnessed.
Tight lines all

Great weekend with afew firsts
Submitted by still trying on Mon, 2022-01-24 10:22Last week in the steering heat a mate of mine Started sending me pics of the stonking fish he was catching on his time off, that ontop of the reports being put on here made me change my mind on the snapper bash I was planning for Saturday to a trip out to the back of rotto to try and catch my boats first dhue for me. With some very helpful points supplied by a fellow fishwrecked member my son and I got up at 3am and headed out to 50m. First drop and I swear my son must have dropped the bait straight down some things throat. He had abit of trouble at first getting his co-ordination going but it didn't take long to sort out and he had my boats and his first ever dhue also his biggest fish, he has lost bigger snapper but this is way better anyway. We fished until 9 and I was worried he was sick but he said he was just tired but a pretty good day where he smoked me all I brought home was the black ass.

Fat day on the water
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2022-01-23 17:39Headed out early to a spot I have in the mid 30's and not even a bite for an hour and a half easy, started to think it was going to be a long day.
Had another mark about a mile away and thought would give that a crack, The drift was all over the show and was taking us north off the area i had pinged, well it was a blessing in disguise as the sounder lit up with big flares and my mate was on with a good fish. First Dhuie up a cracker, dropped my bottom meat and within about a minute I was on with a just size Dhue so decided to release him as he was very healthy imo. Dropped the jig back down with mauled bait on and it was hit before it even made the bottom, another cracking Banger.
Decided to shift out into the 40's on the flat coral for Baldies, which paid dividends of filling out the bag with two Baldies and Pinkies.
Topped off with 7 good size crays the beers went down well that arvo.

Stern saver
Submitted by Curndog on Fri, 2022-01-21 17:37
Has anyone got a seaworthy stern pad on back of there glass boat? I bought it online from boat warehouse and in description says jumbo has a strength of 400kgs. When I open packet it says max transducer weight of 3 pounds (1.3kgs). I was planning on fixing a tm260 to it which would weigh at a guess 2kgs. Not sure if I should do it or not

Thursday Session
Submitted by Brock O on Fri, 2022-01-21 07:47Day out yesterday in pretty nice conditions, head out 40ks to try me luck finding some new ground. Bit slow going early until we found some hard ground in the 50s resulting in a few solid BA for mate Leah...struggled for a bit before moving into the 60s and finding a small lump and showing which resulted in a nice 850 Dhue tipping 10kg, was a funny fight losing the initial fish well off the bottom before the heavier model jumped straight on...must have been following it up...seems the big fella had survived a previous fight with a 80g jig already in its gob.
Second drift didn't produce any fish but a first with a massive GW showing up from deep below...would have went 4m plus easy and very fat, amazing to see her circle a few times but after missing the first close show was under able to get any decent photos...but made my day, was a beast!!
Moved into the 40s for a bit...no fish but sounder shot had me thinking the big girl was still down there.
30s we tried for a few KG's, decided to rig the 80g jig found in the Dhues month...resulting what I was calling a massive kidney slapper...didn't last long before something took this hard snapping me off. In all an enjoyable day out.
Bit more good weather to come..get out there gents and tight lines!!
