Reels from Minstor Online (Malaysia)
Submitted by surfhead on Fri, 2013-08-16 04:31Just would like to know from all of those who have purchased from Minstor whether they got the reel(sic) deal, or else some type of copy/fake. Their prices are soooo good, maybe too good to be true ? grateful for feedback first before I spend any money.

Quobba Advice
Submitted by artygunner on Thu, 2013-08-15 13:27Hi Everyone,
I will most likely be heading up to Quobba next week. Never been there before and have no idea where to fish, what to take etc. Can anyone that has been there before let me know of any decent locations for fish and what type of fish I am likely to catch this time of year?
Thanks,
Ryan

Recreational " Trigger Trap " Ocky Pots
Submitted by Oceanside Tackle on Thu, 2013-08-15 13:15Recreational " Trigger Trap " Ocky Pots - In Stock (Limited numbers)
_________________________________________________________________________
Have you always wanted to catch tasty Australian octopus like the professionals?
Well now you can, after many years of research and development its finally been made. Cost-effective and eco-friendly octopus trap that is 70% more effective than the traditional shelter pots currently used by commercial octopus fishermen.
These pots are designed for both commercial and recreational use. Yes recreational, the Fisheries Department of Western Australia now allows recreational fisherman to fish for octopus. You as a recreational fisherman are now entitled to own and operate up to 3 pots per person (2 Traps on frame = 1 pot) or up to 6 individual traps. So now you can catch and cook your own octopus or get yourself some quality fresh bait.
* The full setup is in kit form that you make up but its quite easy. The kit includes frame, trigger pots (2), LED lights & crabs(2),screws,bolts,washers,anode and rope bridle etc
* You just need a rope and float that we sell here and away you go
* With every setup we will supply a Construction Instruction and Exemption paperwork which also outlines the full legal requirments/details etc
$ Full setup of 1 pot (2 Traps on frame = 1 pot)
More info from the Fisheries Department

Land Based Fishing Metro area. Fremantle Direction would be sweet
Submitted by Owndm8 on Thu, 2013-08-15 09:48Gday Everyone,
New to fishwrecked and have just recently been getting back into fishing after a 20+ year layoff from the sport. So i am very green in regards to fishing. I only ever really went fishing with my Dad before he passed away. When I say Fremantle direction it is because i work in Fremantle, but any info on where i can get some decent fish around metro area and what type of fish i can expect would be greatly appreciated. As i say very green, but keen to learn.
Can pm me if you like.
Cheers Guys

King Fisher WA
Submitted by Fisheagle on Wed, 2013-08-14 21:21I watched a TV show called King Fishers tonight where three anglers from three countries fish for different species with different methods each having a turn to host the others. My definition of a “King Fisher” is somebody who can adapt their fishing method to catch fish in most conditions. These “fishers” did not fit my definition which got me thinking.
Here’s the go. I believe that I may be a “King Fisher” and hereby throw out the challenge to any aspirant King Fishers out there. The challenge is as follows: Four anglers each chipping in $200 to show commitment. Six disciplines – six sessions of 3 hours each:
Day 1 off the boat on FFB – morning session plastics only, followed by the afternoon session of bait only.
Day 2 from the shores of the Swan – morning session plastics and/or hard-bodies (no bait), followed by the afternoon session with the fly.
Day 3 from Preston Beach – morning session with bait, followed by the afternoon session with lures.
The biggest fish wins each session – 5 points for the winner, 3 points for second and 1 point for third if the person catches a fish. Four co-ordinates for each discipline into a hat which is drawn by a neutral person. Winner takes all, but the catch is he/she has to donate the winnings to a (recognised) charity of their choice. The title of Western Australia’s “King Fisher” will be the accolade. Who knows we may have a tackle dealer sponsoring the effort and the winner may take home some tackle .
I will make my CruiseCraft 625 available for the boat session. Maybe Adam would like to host this under FishWrecked’s banner?
Any bites.....?

seamartin reels
Submitted by crezz on Wed, 2013-08-14 19:12does anyone use or have used the old seamartin reels. when I was about 15yo I got a brand new seamartinII from a local tackle shop down south, filled it with 20lb mono and took it for a spin. I found that the line use to get twisted after using it for a while. I haven't used it since. i'm thinking of dusting off the cobwebs and giving it another go. What are your opinions of the old seamartin?

Just wondering if anyone has owned or been out on a chivers 5.9 centre console. Im interested in a 1997 model, any info on ride quality, stability at rest, how much of a wet boat they are and any issues that i should look for when inspecting would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks regards

Salvage? updated photos and video!
Submitted by bitten on Wed, 2013-08-14 12:51So hypotheticly your cruising around and see what you think is a dead whale in the distance.
upon closer inspection it turns out to be this.
with a bit of tlc the motor starts first pull some new fuel and clean the barnacles out of the carby it runs like a dream
no id apart from the
HIN number and a serial number on the engine
do i own this boat now ???
shes looking good now will up load a pic of it all cleaned up and running this arvo
so here it is all cleaned up
3.4 m Savage Gull and 15 hp mercury
it runs really smoothly starts with half a pull, its missing the engine cover (aprox $150?) and needs a new fuel fitting where the hose from the fuel tank attaches to the motor (cheap). hull is in mostly good condition has a small ding up front nothing major
has an anchor, 2 oars more like paddles than oars 25 ltr fuel tank, foam seat covers
here is a video of the motor running
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151805482254049&set=vb.747074048&type=2&theater
obviously needs a trailer could be a car topper though i guess keeping in mind what it has been through what do you think its worth

Snapper Ground - Cockburn Sound
Submitted by Tradewind on Tue, 2013-08-13 02:07Hey all,
Hoping to take my boat out on my maiden voyage on Sunday morning early.
Chose Cockburn sound because it's relatively sheltered for my first skippering and with using the boat properly for the first time
I've read about D9 and the gravel patch being the go-to places, and also Harding Rock and Sulphur Bay.
For this time of the year can someone recommend a spot (Can PM if you dont want it public)
If you can think of an area that might also have breaksea cod etc in the confines of the sound without venturing out past Garden Island i'd be grateful
Thanks for any advice, would love the first trip out to be productive =)
