Wahoo in progress
Submitted by brown364 on Mon, 2019-11-11 22:36Just a couple of progress pics of the build. A little messy and time consuming using the Duralac on everything though hopefully worth it in the end for the added protection. I picked the best (hottest) day to get cracking on it although we were lucky enough to have a decent breeze to keep it comfortable. It took a day and a half to get it to this stage and happy so far with the build. Had a couple of missing parts which i believe are on there way and have ordered 2 centre rollers as i am not comfortable with all the weight sitting on the bunks aswell as adding to the ease of launch and retrieve. Happy to hear opinions in regards to set up and experiences as it is new to me.
Hopefully have over the pits in a week then load it up.

New Reel
Submitted by TJ on Sun, 2019-11-10 12:28Hi All.
Chasing suggestions for a new spinning reel, to run 10kg braid for tailor, salmon, mulloway that sort of stuff, mainly off the beach, but may be called upon to do some light trolling for mackies
I've got a couple of the last USA made Penn 6500 and 7500, but from all reports they don't play as nice with braid as modern reels do.
I was looking at maybe a small Spheros, but open to suggestions.
Cheers.

Landrover
Submitted by Shane O on Wed, 2019-11-06 20:14Not fishing related but please bear with me, want to have a look under the plastic engine cover on my freelander td4. And it has these bolts? Never seen them before and not sure of they have just been put there by someone. The car is a 2003 model so it's pretty old.
Anyone know what they could be

Redfin
Submitted by luke george on Wed, 2019-11-06 10:55I just got back from a 4 night trip to the pemberton area targeting redfin and thought I'd share the results. I spent alot of time kayaking and Bush bashing to secluded spots but most of the fish came from very easily accessible spots while fishing from the banks. All up we landed about 35 redfin, all but 2 or 3 were 35cm+. Also managed 2 nice rainbows one from the lefroy and one from the Warren. I was hoping I'd get to tangle with my first brown this trip but unfortunately no joy there although the reds more than made up for it

Novara Boat ramp
Submitted by meglodon on Tue, 2019-11-05 19:46Just a heads up good people, be aware there are problems at the Novara boat ramp at the moment,
Firstly the ramp has about 30cm of weed on the concrete ramp, if you do not have a 4x4 do not attempt to launch from there as you will most certainly end up bogged.
secondly the most eastern ramp can't be used due to a 16ft glass boat being sunk about 3/4 of the way out along the finger jetty. The only part of the boat visible is the coming of the bow, from what I have been told it has been there for about a fortnight I can't see any holes in the hull and it appears that everything that can be ratted from the boat has been except the motor which is an old johno I think. I find it a bit strange that the motor hasn't been taken as all other bit and pieces have.
I'd defiantly give this ramp a miss until the weed is removed.

Snyderglass rods for Alvey
Submitted by timbo2410 on Sat, 2019-11-02 11:09Hi all. been in the UK for 12 years and am back in the SW coast again. Disheartened to hear that Snyder are no more but am trying to find a rod the same as their MT8144. I wrote to Wilson Tackle (who had the original blanks), but they emailed and said they didn't have any more. What are people using these days with their Alveys for heavy surf casting/rock fishing? Or is it unfashionable to use the old Alvey (of which I have 3).

Popping for Whiting?
Submitted by Fathom on Wed, 2019-10-30 15:32I started catching Whiting 45yrs ago in Port Stephens NSW using live Yabbies freshly pumped or Bloodworms before digging for them was banned. I lived on a beach and only had to venture 50ft from my bedroom to catch one. I'm a bit skeptical and would never of thought you could get one on a lure, apparently you can and it's intrigued me into catching one on a popper, any advice on a good popper to try out?
