Weekend Fishing in Exy
Submitted by Simo_ on Tue, 2019-05-21 10:38Managed to get into some fish on the weekend. Scored the Marlin while trolling a turbo head skirt at 14knots, was an epic hookup. Also on same day got a double header of Rankin, was reeling my line in flat out and got slammed 10m off bottom, called it for a shark at first.
Last pic was what I got in 4 drops out from Tantas.

anyone know when are the fads getting pulled?
Submitted by scotto on Mon, 2019-05-20 11:17I heard its going to be this week, but does anyone know what day?
also, if anyone knows what fads are missing, or not in their correct spot would be grouse!
I tried PGFC site and a bit of facey-googling, but not much info on which day.
who actually pulls them? RFW? PGFC? Fisheries? Dept of Transport?
cheers

Shelter Bay - June Trip Expression of Interest
Submitted by Belly Fish on Sun, 2019-05-19 20:51Howdy,
A few mates and I are heading to Shelter Bay for a fishing trip for a week in June. First night there is Sunday 9th June and we'll be heading back on Sunday 16th June.
We have campsite Easter 2 booked, which can take a maximum of 12 people, but at this stage we only have 4 of us in 1 boat.
Although I have a 7.5m twin engine boat, we'd be very happy to have another group join us at our camp so we have 2 boats to convoy for safety.
Let me know if anyone is keen. We travel up in 2 cars...1 with boat and 1 with trailer. We leave on Saturday and stay overnight at the Useless Loop turnoff, before splitting with the boat going to Denham to motor over.
We've been a few times now, so have the process pretty much sussed. I can provide more details if you are interested.
Cheers
Belly

A historical question
Submitted by meglodon on Wed, 2019-05-15 15:50I’m not To clued up on these sorts of things so please forgive my ignorance on such a matter, so here is my question, when shops close from what I have seen they hold a stock clearance auction, after the tackle shop Oceanside Tackle I think it was called closed last year did they hold a stock clearance auction or sale.
Just wondering as they had a huge amount of gear and I thought I may be able to get a bargain at an auction, I appreciate that is looking to get a bargain at someone else’s expense however that is the situation and not caused by any action of mine

ive also been told that the tails coming off the bottom is a good idication of good ground aslo (as per how to read a sounder book)

Fishing Batubulan
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Tue, 2019-05-14 12:46Managed to get to Bali for the first time with the family even though I’d been on the operating table having my bicep tendon reattached just 9 days earlier and can’t put any load heavier than a glass of water on it so on our last day I asked a few locals if they could take my oldest boy out fishing inside the reef with my watching and they just weren’t keen unless we booked it for 4 hours and paid full price for two so my cousin suggests we visit the snapper ponds he’s been to.

Alkimos/Amberton beach? Worth a try?
Submitted by MAGA2020 on Mon, 2019-05-13 12:04Has anyone had any luck up this way?. Girlfriend and her lady crew will be out from Sat arvo till Sunday morning (Ocean Reef is the drop off a pickup location) so i figured why not wet a line.
Dont fish NOR much but ill have a good 10+ hours to soak a bait and see whats what.
At the end of Idyllic View Road there is Amberton Beach, and just north of that carpark i can see (on google maps) a little reef outcrop, could hold some surprises.
Just north/south of the Shorehaven grassy area from what i hear is okay for bread and butter species.
Or i could say bugger it and fish near Club Capricon....
Any advice or suggestions?
Cheers.

Good article in today’s Sunday times about sanctuary zones
Submitted by meglodon on Sun, 2019-05-12 19:22Today’s Sunday times has an article about that Burke of a politician tony burke re introdcing sanctuary which where thrown out as not creditable by the libs at the last federal election. After a review it was shown that the proposed sanctuary zones had no merit and where only proposed to keep the greens preferences essential for him to keep his seat I believe.
what a waist of space imo

Mooring Set Up
Submitted by suzi q on Tue, 2019-05-07 20:36Hi All
Heading over to Mackerel Islands in a couple of months for a week or so. will be suing the moorings they have set there for the week. Just wondering what set up folk use to secure your vessel to the mooring? Have read a couple of stories about boats coming loose and drifting off over there, so keen to here what the best set up is. I'll have a 6.7M Bar Crusher.
thanks all
