Willy weather
Submitted by Georgejungle on Thu, 2013-02-14 17:17Does anyone use willy weather ?. It seems they forecast about half of what seabreeze does so it makes for a very hard call when to go out or not. I Have been watching willy weather all week and its saying less than 10 knots yet according to BOM its 23 knots on rottnest at the moment. Is it usually that unaccurate or is it just a one off?.
Dont really want to fish in 23 knots for some unknown reason

Submitted by barneyboy on Thu, 2013-02-14 13:15WA fisheries would like all fisho,s who use the busso jetty to fill out a catch card that is available from the fisheries office in Busselton or the building at the start of the jetty.
These can be filled out and dropped in the letterbox at the same building or Busso fisheries office stating what you caught, ect, ect.
The aim is to see how the population of fish are at the jetty.

one of those days
Submitted by Gav475 on Thu, 2013-02-14 08:09Had a great day on tuesday. Headed out from Mindarie at 6am to Direction Bank. Conditions were as good as I have seen in Perth. First drop was a double header of Dhuie and black arse. The misus was on straight away as well with a good size Baldie. Set the tone for the next 3 hours. Pretty much every drop was a Dhuie around 70cm or a nice Baldie. Poor old release weight was working overtime. Ended up catching and releasing 10 dhuies 5 Baldies, black arse, fox fish as well as 4 unstopables which were never sighted. Headed home by 11 both happy campers. Was mint to see the wife having a ball and to see her technique improving to the point were she now needs no help from me at all. In fact I think I got my ass handed to me overall. All in all a great day with all number of fish released well . Kept our quota of 2 dhuies and 2 baldies. One to remember

TLD 25
Submitted by Luke_h_93 on Thu, 2013-02-14 06:43 Hey guys just spent $500 on a TLD 25 with a Shimano backbone elite as the rod,
As far as i can gather the TLD is a very popular reel, strong, lightweight and built to last.
Has anyone had any problems with it or know a bit about it?
Cheers luke

how hard is it for fisheries to patrol the most popular pier?
Submitted by old salt on Wed, 2013-02-13 20:36I took a walk along the ammo jetty on saturday night, there was quite easily well over 100 people fishing there. What i found concerning was there were a few asians fishing there with a cast net which i am certain is not legal. even more concerning was the size of there crate they intended to fill and were doing a good job of it working like little machines. the minute i mentioned the fisheries i got a look of disgust from them, there crate was an industrial sized container i would of loved to kick it over into the sea, but i didnt fancy i stab wound. so my bitch today is what waste of time our license fees are if they cannot be bothered patrolling areas these scum buckets fish? Ps i have many asian friends who do the right thing, id love for fisheries to not only fine them but confiscate there cars.

Shark Mackeral
Submitted by Wazza79 on Tue, 2013-02-12 18:38Headed out from Hillaries yesterday with a fellow FW member and trolled up this little Shark Mack just behind the 3 mile. Decided to keep it as I've never tried eating one before and couldnt find any info on their eating quality, so bleed and put into the ice slurry. Filleted up nicely and crumbed and cooked tonight for dinner and although the meat looks sweet and white, it tastes like shite. Very floury in texture and still had that ammonia taste to it. Happy to say Shark Mackies are now a catch and release species.
Caught on a Richter Jnr Tornado
Cheers again to Alwaysfishin for the day out and the happy snap.

22.5 Black Bart Dinner
Submitted by Knot Big Enuff on Tue, 2013-02-12 11:13Hey ...
Just thought I may throw this question out, may be someone out there has the same ..
I have a 22.5" Black Bart Dinner skirt (1998 design); it's mainly designed for Wahoo (high Speed), however, years ago, People recorded Billies being caught on them too.
Anyone out there has got one? I'm only asking as I enquired to Bart regarding the way they swim; they jump & dart like no other skirt in the spread! If so, any sucess on them, being Marlin, Wahoo or even Tuna?
Thanks for the help

Working in Onslow
Submitted by TAPOUT on Tue, 2013-02-12 08:09Looking at taking a job in Onslow. Be there for 4 weeks each trip. Just looking for info on what's in town and what the land based fishing is like. Anyone else working up there? Wondering if it's worth bringing the family up once in a while to break up the time away from them. Just not sure if there is much for them to do if they came up for a week or two. Any advice or info would be much appreciated.

New to WA
Submitted by maxor2008 on Mon, 2013-02-11 21:17Hi Guys,
I recently moved over to Perth from Sydney and I'm keen to get stuck into some fishing here.
As I am in unfamiliar territory and dont enjoy fishing alone, I thought I'd appeal to those of you who could do with an extra fishing buddy (be it on a boat or landbased).
I have all of my own gear for all types of fishing (light gear/beach rods/heavy jigging gear/rock fishing gear etc) and I am willing to pay for my share of bait/petrol/food/etc.
I'd consider myself somewhat experienced as I do quite a bit of fishing back east - chasing various bread and butter fish (bream/whiting/flathead) to bigger species (kingfish/mulloway/bonito/salmon) to bait gathering (squid/yakkas).
I'm based in East Perth and recently bought a car (so transport isn't an issue).
Shoot me a msg if you're looking for a mate to fish with.
Cheers!

Submitted by Oracle on Mon, 2013-02-11 21:08I've seen a number of what looks like big "hills hoist clothes hangers" in the river. usually around clubs of some sort. In the water, half falling over. pipes hanging from them.
What are they for?

dinghies stored along the swan river foreshore ?
Submitted by perth fisher on Mon, 2013-02-11 18:37what's happening with dinghy storage along the river foreshore ?
I thought i heard that some areas like peppermint grove have removed dinghies being stored on the foreshore, and people need to use kayaks and inflatables to access boats moored in the river ?
Is that going to happen for all areas or is it different for all the councils ?
In some river parks i can see there being space for dinghies, but along many parts of the river dinghies do get in the way of river access if you are walking or going for a fish from shore
