Any chance of big mackeral landbased never ballooned or kite fished before but have a basic idea are there places to do that

Huge schools bunbury
Submitted by drew_ward on Sat, 2011-03-26 13:44Dont get excited, not salmon schools:P was down at the rocks in front of the bunbury light house having lunch and noticed a huge circle of what look like rippled water. kept looking out and noticed about 3 or 4 more...soon realised it was just bait fish coz every now and then would see a hole heap jumping for there lives as some sort of fish was snapping for some lunch. each scool was about the size of a small house and soon got parted by a few passing boats..they were porpbaly 20 metres from casting distance. talked to 2 blokes and they said a few boats were trolling around over top of them. one guy caught a chopper so they could of been tailor chasing for a feed. ive never seen anything like it in bunbury ecspeicaly for the back beach... white bait?? mulies?? what do u guys recon??spewing i didnt have my kayak and rods:( did any one else see this?? fishing addiction!! maybe there should be a help line:P

coral jizz
Submitted by dumper on Fri, 2011-03-25 21:39Any exie locals know what the fishings like when a mummy coral and a daddy coral put on the barry white cd and lay down by the fire?
does the fishing shut down or fire up?
A spectacular event is about to occur off the WA coastline, but you'll have to be in the right place at the right time to see it happen.
The annual mass spawning of corals is about to occur along the Dampier Archipelago, Ningaloo Marine Park and Abrolhos Islands for just four days from March 27.
Department of Environment and Conservation marine science program leader Chris Simpson said the event occurs over the period of the lowest tidal range, seven to 10 nights after the full moon.
"This fascinating event in the coral reproductive cycle looks something like a pink underwater snow storm, and it attracts many divers and photographers each year," Dr Simpson said

New member of the Marlin club - ME!
Submitted by ricey on Fri, 2011-03-25 21:03Yesterday headed out with Craig White (Seasport) off Jurien. Was second on the strike, and early on we had a solid strike and was a fat striped tuna. Me up next. Super excited and waiting with baited breath... waiting... waiting. No sniff though huge schools of bait worked over again and again by a hard working Whitey. No birds working the entire day.
About 2pm we hit the FAD and all have a go at live baiting for Dollies. They fire up straight away and all four of us land at least one. I got my first and was stoked. It thought it was a marlin with at least 5 free jumps on lightish gear.
We make the trip home and lures are all out and there are even fewer schools of bait on the sounder. But I am still sitting with the gimbal on raring to go.
About 4pm the Tiagra 50 (yay it was the 50) screams to life and its all action. I put the rod in the belt and 200 m out to see MARLIN free jumping and the crowd goes wild. It repeats the dose a few times. Finally the drag stops screaming and the line is solid and I am feeling (hoping/praying) that it is a solid hookup. It seems rock solid. All lines and teasers cleared and captian and decky talking well driving back and forth to assist in reeling in. All went to plan and maybe 15 minutes later tag is in and then marlin board used for what it was made for and fish on deck for a quick few snaps. Swum for a bit and free to go to be caught again.
First time I ever have gone for a marlin and stoked. Estimated 45kg and 2.3 m.
Thanks to the Fishwrecked members for the day and to Whitey for a memory never to be forgotten (again).

My New Toy... HDS 10
Submitted by Black Pearl on Fri, 2011-03-25 11:59Hi Crew,
Got it on Wednesday, took the boat out yesterday to give it a run and see what the settings were like. Only had HDS5 in first but now having the HDS10 we connected both together now it seems the 5 is a lot clearer and more defined. It also holds the bottom travelling at higher speeds compared to what it used to.

I am planning on taking the young fella land basedsouth metro to try and get him to experience a big run whether its a ray, shark, mulla what eva just want him to experience some big fish action.
any members thinking of heading out south metro tonight let me know as we would love to meet some fellow fishwrecked members. I am not too sure as yet to where the young fella and i are going to go. We wanted to go to E-Shed or Ammo jetty but i think its going to be super packed.
