Can't wait to go and i hope you guys can give me some god info before i leave cheers jamil.

Any one need a deckie tomorrow?

Winds looking half decent around miday and onwards.

Any one going out to the barges for a jig

Got my own rods/jiggs will chip in for fuel/bait or whatever.

Around hillarys or cockburn

Would love to catch a ride out tomorrow.

Maybe even in the river, would rather go for a jigg but if no one then a river sesh would be alright.

Cheers, Troy.

Bottom Bashing Setup

Looking for a new set up I can use for bottom bashing back of Rotto etc (so something with balls, but not too big..ie tiagra 80w size aha). Prefer overhead set up. Been looking at some accurates and van staal rods. Any help would be appreciated

WOW what great fishin down floreat drain xmas

Well after driving from perth - bunno then back again on christmas day it got to 4pm and i said " stuff it!" Im going to the drain fishin.

I got there at around 5.30pm and i pulled the block of mulies out. I was using the back part of the mulies, cuttin the tail off and using about from the tail and and about 2cm of the mulie on a single hook for bait.

First cast and i was hooked up to something solid. After a short tussle i landed it and to my suprise on a 40 degrie day a nice salmon. Next cast another one and this went on all arvo till it went dark , took pics and released them.

As soon as it got dark  chucked out the big rod with a mulie and 5 min later i was hooked up to something big. 10min later i landed it. Big stingray *spewin*

Grbbed the flicky again then hooked into a nice flatty. Last cast of the night and i landed a nice skippy.

Could of stayed longer and got tailor but i was ready to die of thirst as i forgot my drinks :) What a way to spend a chrissy  arvo.

So beautiful down there .

Pics coming....

bream/flatties tomorrow

anybody hitting the swan tomorrow been doing ok lately.

Your opinions on this arvos winds

What do you guys think of this arvos winds? Looking to drop to 8knots at about 2pm and be round the 10knots til 6ish when it kicks back up...I want to head out say 10mile....?????

demearsal jigging for a beginner

hello wiser people,

i like the idea of demearsal jigging, got the jigs and soft plastics but not sure about a set up. this won't be my main mode of fishing, i have a 3.7 m dinghy and hence don't go much past the three mile most of the time.

Reels - i have a Stella 20 000 FA one spool with 30lb fireline, other 80lb, also have a twinpower 4000FB with 14lb one spool and other with 30lb fireline, also a Penn liveliner in about a 6000 (never use it really). I was hoping/guessing the twinpower with the 30 lb might be the go???

Rods - i have a monster mesh PE6 jig rod spin, and a penn 7' 6 - 10 kg boat rod which bends over pretty easy . not sure if either are the go? also a 8 foot live fibre which i love but probably too light and long i guess. i am thinking the penn rod may suffice???

Finally - anyone want to take me out and show me the techniques? Happy to chip in and pretty free coz am on holidays.

thanks !

RICEY.

karratha carnarvon fishing floods

i planned a 4 day trip to karratha and 2 days driving home with my mum and dad. the first three days were spent at point samson causeway. we caught many different fish but unfortuantely no travalley :(. am i right with these fish?spanish flag?

finger mark?

have got no clue?

some sort of bonefish?

at the end of the third day conditions got a little dodgy so we decided to go 4wding on the flats behind the back beach boat ramp. and yeh 1 almighty bog a towtruck and $200 this was the result hahaha

we saw that low pressure system coming that caused the floods. we decided to cut our holiday short and make a mad dash for carnarvon. we got caught in miniliya some 120km's short. they estimate 75-100 cars and trucks and 150-200 people. the roadhouse was laughing with the only working phone they were chargin $5 a call.

we finally got let out after 25 hours. and not watching the news we had no idea wat were heading into.

when we went over the gascoyne river i was expected it to be raging buut.

however no less than 12 hrs later

so we finally got let out after spending 7 days in carnarvon. only to drive all the way back to karratha to get a flight out on christmas eve. these last pictures are the plantations and the roads.

this is not my picture i got it of the abc facebook page.

anyway i got more pictures if ya want some pm me

Cut cray rope

Went out to pull the pots the other day only to find 2 of my mates missing.

We searched for a while to no avail.

Went 2 days later early in the morning to have another look and actually found 1 with the float cut off and the rope floating just on the surface.

My mates bouys were a bit hard to identify / read but where marked.

Question is if the fisheries found these pots / floats and could not read the id properly would they cut the float off or pull and take the whole pot.

Or would someone of just ran them over and cut the float off..

Still one pot no-where to be found.

Cheers............

South australia- fishing charter reccomendations

Hey guys my Mrs ended up organising a shark cage diving charter to go see the great whites some thing i have always wanted to do. I will also go out on a fishing charter for another day does anyone have any suggestions on which charter to take and best time of year?

Lb saltwater fishing in England

Mate and I were talking fishing yesterday (what else should we talk about), when I made the observation that I had never seen any show/movie etc that showed anyone fishing fronm the beach/rocks in England

A quick (and not comprehensive) google showed a lot of angling clubs but they all seemed to be on the rivers and lakes.

Do any of you expat poms know if it is done in England?

Just curious - have no plans to return to 'the od Dart' to find out

regards

Phil

Fisherys out and about,,

I just heard about this and its good to see the Fisherys checking boats at the ramp up Cervantes way but checking boats twice in 20 odds minutes at the ramp then at a road block just down the road again in the blistering heat on the side of the road in the middle of summer ? Don't really see the point wasteing the officers time and the publics ?

No fishing tomorrow

Had everything ready to take the family out for a fish tomorrow but then come up on the news weather on ABC

christmas goodies - what did you get

Love Christmas. Did you get what you asked for? (if not buy your own and pass them on = what i did LOL) Early presents for me - jigs and soft plastics for demearsals.

Now all i need is for someone to invite me on their boat and show me how the heck to use them ... (wink wink, nudge nudge ... )

Which lure??

Going to rotto tomoz:D

One engine is broken, so we're going across at 10knots, ideal trolling speed

I have one with 30lb nand the rest are all bream sticks, so i can only put one lure out.

A barra classic 120 (rob gaden) a 160 laser pro and a 190, but i'm not sure if anything between rotto and freo is big enough

to hit any of these lures. If so, which one?

Thanks, Andrew

hapuka

We ventured out into the wild blue the other day to a spot we had previously

landed double headers of hapuka, but on this trip we only managed one of around 5 kilos

Although i could still see fish on the sounder we couldnt manage to get anymore

Do they only feed on tide changes?etc etc

or has anyone had similar experiences, any info would be great

as driving thirty odd mile and not returning with alot can be a real bummer

Xmas Calamari

So it goes like this,

We have Fish, We have Turkey, some Calamari would be nice for Xmas dinner.

Rightio then, your wish is my command, She Who Must Be Obeyed.

Benz I need a Stealth moment, Calamari is need for the Xmas dinner table, no problem, so the Mission Began almost under the cover of darkness.

Cameron kicked off the session, Iam told he always does, then followed by Brenz with me reserving my best for the "Big Ones".

Kanji Prospect Clicks were working all morning with two or three colours being standouts.

However the Calamari did have the last Squirt, with us having the last Laugh.

Great day, lot's of laughs and a fantastic way to cruise into Xmas.

Mission Accomplished. Peace and Calm is restored to the Abeldog household.

Merry Xmas All!!!!

exmouth?

hey, is any one heading up exmouth way? i heard the you hav to go up the great northern highway due to the flooding. does any one know how much longet thet would be??

cheers

Surf rod recommendation.

Hey guys.

I'm in need of a new surf rod and was looking at the Shimano Aero Wave rods.

I have no clue which one I should get as they have  3 types of blanks- Glass,Graphite,Composite.

Am wondering if there is a big difference in the 13' and 12'2 models.

Rod is going to match up to a Penn 850ssm I have and to be used on Tailor/Salmon/Rays/Sharks.

Thanks! And Merry Christmas!

Xmas day dive? anyone keen?

Just found a good spot today off hillaries, its close in and there's a few nest of crays there. Only managed 3 today but was limitied by time and air. I'm keen to get back out there tomorow to see if we can score a feed of fresh crays for tomorow's lunch. Want to get out early and be back for lunch. Can do a double if time permits..

Let me know if anyone's keen.

Boat is a 5m trailcraft with door and ladder :)

Demersal Sess Boat 2 Photos

A few photos from boat 2.......none of the snapper as too busy with marauding sambos on PE3 at the time! None of my dhu on jig as released immediately.

My PB Black Bum on jig was nice, and we certainly had the better of the fish, but a seargent baker did get one back biting hand as I tried to release him!!!!
