Kalbarri Offshore
Submitted by Pembo on Thu, 2019-04-11 22:25G'day Gang
Before I start, i confirm i have used the search function on this site.
I am at Kalbarri for 8 days from this Saturday with a 24ft Kevlacat. From what I can devise i need to head SW some 20-30 NM to find good ground. That is not a problem, but i was hoping to take my 8 year old out so looking for something a bit closer....any tips?
Also, from what i can gather, the ground in close proximity is fairly flat but has some coral. Is this correct (ie no structure but still fairly productive)?
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Cheers
Brent

electric trailer winch
Submitted by slam on Thu, 2019-04-11 12:15Hey all,
Just back on the wagon after a few too many years away from boating and fishing. As my years have go on, finding a tad harder to pull boat up on manual winch. Have been reading all old posts on winches but was wondering if any new winches on the market are worth looking at?
I see many people dont think they are worth it but my heart says otherwise!!!

Getting boat to coral bay
Submitted by crano on Wed, 2019-04-10 18:43I am going to coral bay getting there on 28th of april. We have got a caravan now and want to take that and the boat. If need be I will do two trips but was hoping I could pay someone that is going there to take the boat. I live in bunbury but could get the boat to perth before I leave. Even gettig it to carnarvon would be a big help. The boat is a 6m glass boat on a good trailer that has four brand new bearings and two spare wheels and a complete hub and I have tools and a jack. Some trips out fishing would be part of the deal if interested. If anybody has any ideas could you ring me on 0417829899.

Help with Combos for Dampier
Submitted by Syzygy on Wed, 2019-04-10 14:34I was wondering if I could get some help on the right combo to get for bottom bouncing and trolling in Dampier, mid range depth, no 80+ work. Don’t do a lot of boat fishing so haven’t needed to get anything! I currently have a tyrnos 30 reel with 50lb braid on, but no boat rods. Should I get a dedicated bottom combo and use the tyrnos 30 for trolling or just use the t30 for both? Any ideas on what rods will suit. I’m thinking around the $200 mark for rods and the same if I need to get another reel.
I have checked the forums and a lot of recommendations say go for talica and t curve which is out of my budget!
Thanks in advance

Fuel Filter
Submitted by Deckie on Tue, 2019-04-09 14:33Hi folks, can you tell me the pro's & con's of putting an inline fuel filter in after the seperator between the primer pump and motor.
Had problems with gummed up carbies the last time i went out. Had it all cleaned & repaired with new gaskets & parts, but would like the security knowing that nothing is going to get into them again and spoil a nice day out before it begins.
Was probably related to just sitting around for 10 months with a start in the driveway every month.
Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated as usual.
Cheers.

Sounder advice
Submitted by luke george on Mon, 2019-04-08 08:18Hey guys I'm chasing some advice on a sounder for my kayak. It will be mainly used for locating redfin and bottom contours in the dams and rivers, I don't want to spend too much on it as there's a good chance it will end up submerged at some stage. Have looked at the lowrance hook 2 for 119 but I think I'd prefer a tall skinny sounder rather than the wider models. Perhaps the pirahna max series from hummingbird?

Salmon rods and reels
Submitted by br3nno on Sun, 2019-04-07 21:14 Hi all,
Im sure this question has been butchered :/
But I am looking for rods in the 8-10ft range to cast lures for salmon, plugs, poppers and 20-30g twisties. Most likely off the rocks or small surf beach.
I imagine 20lb braid and 30lb leader. Budget is around $80-130 (rod/reel ea), could go less.
Any specific suggestions? Also fibre glass or graphite?
Thanks friends.

I have been going crabbing / prawning Mandurah way quite regularly this last few weeks and i love it so much, only the drive is starting to kill me. I use to go to a boat ramp near the raffles but never had luck till now. Does anyone have any successful spots they would be willing to share with a girl haha. Jetty/scooping... unless of course you have a spare spot on the boat
