Exmouth Charters...
Submitted by timboon on Thu, 2012-09-20 12:51FW Crew... A bloke I`m working with from over East has hit me up for info on Charters running out of Exmouth...
I know there would be several but can anyone recommend someone? I suggested he steers clear of the big boats and look for a smaller operator but thats about where my knowledge of the topic starts and stops...
I don`t think he`d be worried about taking any fillets back east but is just keen to mess with some of what the West has to offer while he`s working over this way...
As always your help will be appreciated...

Submitted by Gav475 on Wed, 2012-09-19 22:02Can anyone give me an idea where to find some muddies in exmouth. Taking the boat up in a few weeks and keen to get a feed. Obviously dont want anyones spot just general pointers. Where to launch, is it safe water or shallow and rocky ect. Boat is only a quiny 475 so not huge. Would it be better to walk for them. Been there before and was thinking near learmonth jetty somewhere. Any pointers would be great

Fisheries and half snapper
Submitted by Walfootrot on Wed, 2012-09-19 15:15Just spoke to fisheries about the snapper being bitten by the sharks, and if they counted towards your bag limit.
And yes they do count as part of your bag.
Now for the fun bit, they must be size, and 2 halfs dont count as 1 fish ( I had to ask lol )
So this is just a heads up, if you keep half a snapper, make sure its size and it will count towards your bag

Wellington Dam?
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 2012-09-19 13:42Anyone been down to Wellington Dam for a fish latley? Whats normally on the chew there?
Longweekend down there and want to dust off my trout rods for the weekend - just wondering if there are any trout in there still?
Mate said to check the water level, as it was empty last time he was there..
Any good areas to fish there?
Is it Boatable?
Redfin made it into the dam?
Lots of questions I know, but what can I say, better prepared than sitting there wasting beer time on the side of a dam..
Thanks guys...

steep point lures
Submitted by bitten on Mon, 2012-09-17 23:24i know this topic has been done before...
i have a heap of mackbaits allready
anyone know who stocks the nillsmaster invincibles
i want to get x-raps not sure on the size though the sxr 14 is about 40 grams which seems a bit light i dont want to spend too much on lures i wont get the distance required with.
i plan on taking plenty of metals with me i love the halco gold twistys one of my favoutrite lures for mackies
any other lures you guys can suggest
is it worth fishing with softies i know a mate of mine did well on the big white grubs
most of the lures i have are around the 80 gram mark can probably still cast 60 far enough but i have not been up there so not sure i know you lose a bit of distance when casting from a high platform.
cheers

Light surf / rock recommendations?
Submitted by tainted on Mon, 2012-09-17 22:29Hay People,
I need a bit of help. After being a lucky lad and getting a regular spot on a mates boat over the winter months squiding I've taken a real liking to lures. Last summer I fished off the local beachs / rockwalls (NOR) with bait mainly targetting tailor. This summer I was keen to get into more lure action off the same locations/targets. The main reason is to be able to carry less gear, be more mobile and hopefully more efficient with my time.
So far I have seen;
Nitro Sniper 10'6" 3-6kg 9-40g
Daiwa Lateo Pirate PL106M 5-9kg 10-40g
but both have interesting reviews with some people raving and some people not so much. Does anyone have an alternative or experience with either of the two rods above that they would like to share. Ideally I would like to be around 10', be able to cast a lure as light as 10g, be light and have good components. I have a stradic 4000fj with 15lb braid that would likely be mated to it if that helps (although this might be out of action...... another story) Price wise I would like it to be under $350 but I dont have to spent that much if there is a bargin rod out there or could stretch if the next level is considered worth it. Just seems like there arent to many rods that have the lengh and the lighter specs.
In advance, cheers for the help people.
Brad

Chasing permit - any tips???
Submitted by Nath86 on Mon, 2012-09-17 20:31Hi guys, I've come across an area where I've seen a few schools of permit swimming around. Although I haven't had a cast at them yet I'm keen to give it a go. The ones that I saw were about 70cm long but I imagine there would be some different size ones about. Sooooo, does any one have any tips. What gear should I use, lures, etc?
Cheers Nath

custom boat covers
Submitted by Jc85 on Mon, 2012-09-17 16:15recently purchased this custom cover. bought it from iboats.com.. was $800 delivered.
very good and strong quality..
you go thru the form and it asks everything about your boat, including if it has twin outboards, or radar.
