Fishing / camping Walpole?
Submitted by randall df223 on Thu, 2012-06-28 17:39Thinking of a week in Walpole after New Year. I understand there are two caravan parks, Rest Point and Coalmine Beach? Which is best for a powered site and access to fishing areas by boat? Anything special to fish for at that time of the year? I have read some books and mags, KGW, skippy, herring, bream, flathead inside? Outside? Will there be any tuna about at that time of the year for trolling or should I think about bottom bouncing or jigging? What is the wind and the river mouth like during January?

Not a good sign for our river systems these guys getting in. Could be some interesting fishing though. Would be good to catch a "wild" golden and silver perch in WA.

Need Some answers to sum possibly silly questions.
Submitted by Zoggy84 on Thu, 2012-06-28 12:34By no means am i new to fishing but definatly new to this site and alot of the lingo going around, so im keen to learn a few new things. Was wondering if u can shed some light on a few things.
1. My rod has a line class of 5-10kg? Does this mean dont go under and dont go over?
2. Demersal? type of fish i figured
3. Demersal Jigging? Never heard of it lol
4. Are u allowed to use a Throw net in perth?
5. Can u cast lures of a Beach rod or is it best just to use a smaller rod?
Thanks to anyone and all that can answer me. Knowing me i will have plenty of questions About other stuff at a later date

The Taxman strikes again at Quobba
Submitted by Tony on Thu, 2012-06-28 09:10Since moving to Carnarvon six months ago I've been spinning up at Quobba quite a bit in an attempt to land a trophy fish of the rocks.
No trouble getting hook ups, landing a whole fish is a different story tho.....
Tuna, mackies and a monster queeny have been shreded by the taxmen, last saturday it was this Bludger Trevs turn.
Low tide combined with almost no swell and I couldn,t lift the trev to the safety of the lower ledge, went 500mm from nose to the
inside of the bite mark. Would have been well over a meter before the shark.
I'll try again next week.

Fish/4wd
Submitted by james14 on Wed, 2012-06-27 18:20Hi all,
Recently got myself a Holden Colorado and I'm looking for a place to go for a fish/4wd north of Perth.
I have little to no 4wding experience, so I'm limited on where I can go.
Not really bothered how good the fishing is, just looking for a place to get both done at the same time.
Anybody have any suggestions?
Regards James

7/0 Elevator Jig Head hooks the wrong eyelet - how to rig?
Submitted by mrbishi on Wed, 2012-06-27 16:02Has anyone else noticed the Berkley Elevator Jig Head 7/0 hooks sold separately have the eyelet the wrong way around? Are you meant to rig them with the hook coming out the side of the plastic rather than the top?

Saltiga s extreme reels
Submitted by AlwaysFishin on Wed, 2012-06-27 15:42I have been looking for a nice jigging combo and the Saltiga s extremes caught my attention. However, after a fellow fw member revealed that they were out of production, I'm hesitant. On top of that, a guy I know quite well who is in the tackle industry told me to stay away from them because daiwa has been known to randomly "replace for free" the whole drivetrain upon it's first service. This really rang the alarm bells, as a reel with the price tag they carry shouldn't need anything "replaced for free" , especially after only 12 months..
Does anyone have any further knowledge of this or even any experience with these reels, good or bad?

deckie spot wanted 7/8 July karratha/dampier
Submitted by crushed on Wed, 2012-06-27 12:34Hi, I'm heading up to Karratha for work 4-6 July so thought might be great to delay return and get out for fish whilst up there. Never fished up that way, if anyone is heading out would really appreciate, a spot. Split bait, fuel etc and have own boat so know the drill. Once confirmed I will have to sort accommodation, work won't cover extra days, so any ideas on cheap options would be great. Cheers, Karl

Submitted by Aaron Santos on Wed, 2012-06-27 09:12Hi all,
I have slowly been getting into the jigging game for demersals using my botttom bashing gear. with a little success of a couple of small dhueys on the last couple of outtings, Im looking at getting a set up just for jigging. Dont want to go too over board just yet as Im still a beginner in this game but want to spend around the $350 - 400(thanks to Birthday Vouchers). with that I would like to get rod, reel and braid if possible. Can you jigging pro's please give me some advice on what to buy, including braid strength and brand.
